...Unfortunately, I had not learned the martial applications, Pierre showed me, but it was so fast ! He always told me that there were many for the same movement and that I would find out for myself. It's been six years since that time is past and it was the best experience of my life practicing. I live far from him now and I no longer see him, I paid tribute to him.
Thank you Kent Howar, you do us a big gift through your videos.
I learned Wang Shujin's Baguazhang with Pierre Portocarrero, known as 8th dan Karatedo. I had the chance to learn in private lessons, as he himself has learned Bagua from Wang Shujin. It took me almost six month to learn the circle walk on judo mats, it was very painful, and he learned me the 8 palms.
I had the chance to learn Shujin Wang's Baguazhang. But aside from my teacher, I had never seen another practitioner who has mastered this style. In fact, I felt a little lonely in my practice. There is no video of Shujin Wang practicing his Bagua , best known for his Xingyi and Taiji. Thank you very much.
@taijibagua04 : You're right, except for a brief clip of Wang performing in Japan, and an even briefer one in Taiwan, there is little to see of his bagua practice. I have a lot of photos in my book, Bagua Linked Palms. But it would be nice to see him actually perfroming the set. He was quite secretive about his practice of bagua; although, very open in his taiji and xingyi teaching.
Yes, and besides you, I have not really found what I learned elsewhere. There are Huang Jin-Sheng of Taiwan but there are differences. Maybe what he shows on YouTube is diluted by comparison with his true practice, or he personalized his practice to make it accessible to all people. I don't know...
Thank you for responding. I really must buy your book, but it's difficult in France, especially when you live in Haute Provence. Best regards
I'm very sorry for my last comments about Huang Jin-Sheng, it was the fruit of my ignorance. I didn't know you are a student of Master Huang. His practice isn't "dilueted", but great.
I want to tell you I found a great video of Wang Shujin's Bagua on Youtube at "huang011 : 八卦連環掌應用2 Bagua Continuous palms-Form & Application". There are the sames applications that my teacher showed me. I am very happy. I love this Bagua. Best regards.
@29jarheads: That is the point of these applications, they can be used on your friends. They are heavily influenced by my work in Nonviolent Self-Defense which is used by mental health workers. Thinking man's defense. And it works!
your stance look a lot like hsing metal is there an energetic reason for having your hands like that?
