Old player here - this looks awful. Part of the game I loved was hunting down armor that not only looked good but was decent in battle. This is a perfect example of what I feel was the downfall of the game - hand-holding. The game became so easy that you never really felt like you accomplished anything, now you can't even have the enjoyment of collecting and agonizing over your suit of armor. Ah well, if current players like it who am I to criticize?
@mikepalomino I know this is a late reply, but I just started up from scratch again. Frostfell. Leveling to 50 is extremely simple and people still do play and there is an economy. People will help you out, it's a bit intimidating, but easy to jump back into it.
Amazing game. Amazing community. Died off for me in 04 because so much of the community was/had left. Best Pvp I've ever played though. Nothing like 2 battlemages at Ayan Baraque.
AC is a genius game. if it looks interesting to you then play it and try it out, it takes a long time to level up tho. Turbine lost a lot of subscribers over the years, when other games have better graphics. Darktide is the only good server. Lots of people are harsh because its a player-killer server but since there is not many players left somebody will want you in the clan.
@UnarmedP0wer do a youtube search on "asheron's call pronunciations"... the resulting video is where I got the reference for the pronunciation, which was from a developer of the game.
I have never played AC but I have to give props to the developers for coming up with this. Even something simple like this could breath new life into a game that - by most standards of computer gaming - is ancient.
I have given thought to picking up AC but my main concern is I'll be starting from scratch. Will I find other low level players to team up with? Usually mature games like AC have higher level players who have moved on from the noob zones. So I don't want to find myself stuck.
@mikepalomino There is no better time to find low level players running around than now, as the introduction of the new race has many older players interested in creating new characters.
@mikepalomino Another great thing about AC is that there aren't really newb "zones", so to speak. There will always be players in towns, and even as a low level, you can run all over the world (if you can survive, heh). There is also a central meeting place that all characters can go to regardless of level (marketplace), and global chat makes the world much smaller and accessible. You really should give the free trial a spin =) There are 3 more races coming out over the next few months.

Do you know if you reduce an amuli coat down to a chest piece only, then tailor that to another chest piece, does it copy just the chest area or the entire look of the coat? I ask only cause I haven't heard of anyone mix and match the tailoring and armor reducing. I am trying to make my platemail chest piece look like an amuli coat while keeping the same armor and spells of coarse, but don't wanna do it if once you reduce the coat then tailor it, it only copies the chest...
@brandonv86 When you apply a tailored breastplate onto a reduced coat, the result will be the breastplate's look, so it'll visually look like its only covering the chest.
I was one of the loyal fanbase that stuck around for 7 years since release, but I really think they should put their efforts towards an Asheron's Call 3,doing it right this time, carbon copy of original AC, with melee combat revision similar to darkfall. I fell in love with AC1, because I started playing it when I was 10 and continued through to age 17, but AC1 can only lose members now, I really doubt it will ever get any new ones.
@MortalOnlineBeta AC has a very loyal fanbase and the dev team is extremely efficient in their work. So in short, damn right they are :) This is the first of 3 videos... the spring patch also includes a new player race (shadows) and Aetheria (new type of equipment)

Great, great game. Played back in '01-'04, quit, came back in '06, and I'm back gain and loving it more than ever.
Great to see a game that after 11 years is still freaken amazing
