  • 1:33 Its Ballantyne

  • Charlotte is hurting now but i think it will recover and grow rapidly again like it did then.

  • I agree as well...Center City spending as well as the banking industry are still strong and are getting stronger. Construction costs are at an all time low...Charlotte WILL rebound.

  • Boy are things different today in Charlotte! The housing market has completely collapsed..unemployment is 11% the banks have collapsed...disaster

  • I don't want my hometown to become a big city like Atlanta or Chicago. I've lived in a "small city" for all of my life, and I'd like to keep it that way since it's already losing its customs.

  • Not enough said. Charlotte ppl kill me. There is this ego thing among Charlotte people. I know I've lived in both Charlotte and Raleigh, NC. Raleigh is not a hick town. Granted it doesn't have a city feel to it like Clt, the population of Wake Co. is expected to surpass McKlenburg in 2025. CLT can not even begin to compare itself to Atlanta. ATL also has WNBA, NHL, MLB, MULTIPLE SKYLINES, is also getting a trump tower and several more skyscrapers in the works Charlotte who I hated clt. boring!

  • ummmm im going to have to call BS to that statement about Wake County..... Btw they are also planning a Trump Tower for charlotte

  • ummmm, the Trump Tower project for both Charlotte and Atlanta has been nixed.

  • yes i realize tht now. BTW you spelled Mecklenburg wrong

  • Yup...i s/h put "Shit" for short.

  • yeaa I'm one of the few born and raised Charlottean!

  • what was the banktown propaganda machine saying back then about their housing market being immune to the downturn affecting the rest of the country...all the wind has been let out of the sails since this report was filed.

  • Too clear things up a bit. Yes Charlotte's city limits hold more people than Atlanta, Boston, and Baltimore. However, Charlotte has significantly more land in its city limits, and significantly less of a metropolitan population. (1.7 million versus Atlanta's over 5 million) While it is a wonderful city, to think it's power is comparable to cities like Atlanta and Boston is getting a head of yourself.

  • Charlotte is growing rapidly. Last time I checked it was ranked 18th largest city in the US. Charlotte had more population than cities such as Atlanta, Boston and Baltimore. The City of Charlotte has approved for 9 more additional high rise buldings to be completed in 2010. Trump Towers was one. The Metro and Bus lines keep adding more routes. Raleigh needs to give the Capital title over to Charlotte. Raleigh is like a tiny Hick City compared to Charlotte. Charlotte has NFL, NBA . Enough said!

  • what is the story on the trump tower? did it get canceled?

  • I've lived in so many places and I always come back to Charlotte. I love it here and I can't wait to buy property in Charlotte!

  • I Love Charlotte Born N Raised Since 1993 Westside Baby Whts UP Theres Plenty Of Hang Outs Spots For Teens 2 Like Club 300 During The Summer Is The Of The Wall Crazy

  • Charlotte's a great place to live.

  • I'm in school right now tgo give my city what it needs. A music industry.

  • that would be so awesome if you did that.

  • aahhh...my hometown !!!

  • a year later now, it is looking alot worse around the country for the housing market. Is charlotte still showing steady growth?

  • no. they have slipped a lot

  • Umm no they havent they are still growing! Steadily!

  • Charlotte NC - a great place to live .. Check out the old Hoskins Mills Lofts,- 3 miles from center city and you get a tax break for being in a historical building .

  • North Carolina is Not at all like you think it is.

  • Donald trump is building two of the largest building there out side of New York. Called no other than Trump Towers. Its a great city to live. Yeah its has its problems but it does have something to do always. I cant say that about the city like Greensboro. Yeah it can be expensive but Its everything these days. If you dont like Charlotte well Why dont you move.

  • just move out of the city, hey I got a place for you to live. If you think charlotte has rednecks and if to CONSERVATIVE. Try living in Greensboro. LOL

  • This city is a joke. First off, the mentality of Charlotte is that if you live in "S.E. Charlotte" you are protected from crime period. People are stunned when they hear a news report about a car break in, or a home invasion in their "PERFECT" area of town. Damn people, crime is everywhere, open your eyes!! I will never conform to the "South Park Mall" mentality of this town. People, it is a mall with "CHAIN RESTAURANTS" in it, not the Taj Mahaul. "Stepford" should be the name of this town.

  • come to the north-east side, and I'm not talking about University. Lol. My hood

  • Hater

  • Greensboro is a college town. plus charlotte is in Trasition to be a M.AJOR US city

  • gotta love charlotte

  • perfect city to live in.

  • BULL!!!

  • One of the biggest trends right now in Charlotte is downtown condos. There are about a dozen residential skyscrapers under construction, complemented by the new light rail line.

  • I live in Manchester, NH. My house...my parents house actually costs 275k and it only a small cape! How much would 275k get me in Charlotte?

  • 2,000 sq ft possibly more.

  • Definately..homes here are awesome..that why I moved here a few weeks ago L-]

  • right now you'll get a lot. $275k would get you a beautiful home in and around Clt

  • If by lamer version of Atlanta you mean cleaner, less of a dump, and bigger...then yes, lamer version is right. Atlanta is smaller and trashier than Charlotte.

  • Charlotte is where it's at! It's clean, safe, great climate, booming economy and the people are friendly!

Soulless? I don't think so, we've got a rich history and a great culture in Charlotte...the only bad thing bout Clt is the damn yankee's...I'm kidding.

  • I've been from NJ, to CA to PA to AR and now charlotte. This is by far the nicest place ive ever been to!

  • ATL wished they were as big as Charlotte, and more important.... Yes they have more Skycrapers as of now, WE Have more land and we are the secound largest banking center outside of NEW YORK. ATL wished they had all that we have.. in the next couple of years when the 8 new skyscrapers are built.... Not Including the TRUMP CHARLOTTE. TOWERS. The biggest outside of NEW YORK.

  • Charlotte is "NOT" an important city. You are wrong about Atlanta wanting what we have. The only thing Charlotte has is the banking industry, Nascar and that is about it. Every "MAJOR" city in America has skyscrapers. According to this video 25-35 year olds move here. What 25 year old can afford the kind of house that this video talks about. I'm 45 and still can't afford a 3 million dollar home. At least Atl has their history. Chlt tares down their history and puts up "STARBUCK's"! JOKE CITY

  • Everyone is coming to Charlotte, so the jokes on you.

  • This video represents the exact reason I moved down to Charlotte in 1993! We've been growing ever since! I hope Charlotte Gov Co. can keep up with the flows of traffic!

  • Wow, they really captured Charlotte in that video. Soulless is a good description too, of the place and the people. I can't wait to get out of here.

  • Man, I luv Charlotte. Westside all day

  • I was able to get a 4 year old home in Charlotte for 50% LESS then the old house I had in WV. For 150K you can find a newer 2000sq ft home.

  • I lived in charlotte for a year. I watched the area around my house go from lush wooded land to dense residential condos. The growth here is outstanding.

  • Oh, like anywhere, it's what you make of it. I think the place is a bit soulless, but it's definitely got a lot going for it too.

  • The west side of Charlotte has more shootings and violence than other parts of the city. See this clip neglects to show the rampent crime rate in the area, and the fact that law enforcement is still rather small, and the infrastructure is unable to keep up with the growing population! This is paltry at best, it's time for the mayor to start making some serious changes.

  • Your city has a lot going for it. A lot of places have high crime but everything else around it is falling apart too. Charlotte is a growing city, quit always trying to find the negative.

  • WoW..How True...I just moved to Charlotte, From ATL and It is alot better here :D

  • i live in charlotte

  • as do i, but were born there

  • Go Charlotte! MattCStone dot com
