This no longer works with the new look in Gmail. You can still at least temporarily switch back to the old look and do this though.

@thebloodymusic Where this guy says it is outdated, he isn't correct although I know what he is talking about. If you have your gmail inbox set to 'Show Unread First', the option to 'Select All Conversations' (to delete all emails) doesn't appear. You need to select 'Classic' - little drop-down button when you hover over 'Inbox' on the left-hand side.

@thebloodymusic youre absolutely right. It took me a little while to understand, but I understood that in order to see the 'select all emails in inbox' I had to be in Classic Mode and not in Priority Inbox mode. my bad;)
