And courts cannot accept what people believe as reason to punish someone else. What he should have done was hired a private detective or something like that to find some sort of connection between her and the people who were arrested, or some other evidence that she had handled his checks before taking it to court.

Judge Judy could even personally believe that the checks were stolen and still have an obligation to find for the defendant simply because the burden of proof was not met. Suspicion and circumstantial evidence is not a preponderance of the evidence.

@taccun I won't call you a morron, and I do agree that he seems to be telling the truth. The problem is he is only telling his truth. I don't think he's trying to lie or frame her, but he wasn't there to witness the event or has any evidence. He's a 100% certain, but he could somehow still be wrong. So even if the girl did have opportunity, Judge can't rule against her just because he sounds convincing. And if that happened to you, it's totally illegal and it sucks

@glasavvatten Perhaps he was right. But I think Judy was also 100% right in her decision. The guy had no solid proof that she did steal his checks. And courts cannot accept what people believe as reason to punish someone else. What he should have done was hired a private detective or something like that to find some sort of connection between her and the people who were arrested, or some other evidence that she had handled his checks before taking it to court.

Judge Judy could even personally believe that the checks were stolen and still have an obligation to find for the defendant simply because the burden of proof was not met. Suspicion and circumstantial evidence is not a preponderance of the evidence.

How is it CLEAR that she stole his checks? I don't know HOW many times I've missplaced my checkbooks...never found them...until I moved and found them stuck somewhere I had hidden them for safekeeping and simply forgot they were there! Obviously, he has some kind of anger issues and that was probably one of the reasons why she decided NOT to pursue a continuing relationship with him, especially AFTER he called her...plus she is 20 years his junior. To me, that's sick...she's a child.

ohhhh, Im from CO, so I was curious and googled him. He was involved in a "tragic" accident that left an inexperienced skier dead. He didnt bring a radio, or shovel, and when the 23 year old girl got buried in snow, he and his partner just left her. Wow, with his temper, and this ... not someone Id want to be alone with in the back country.
