My grandparents have a 1919 Chickering Quarter Grand with all original wood and keys (I'm assuming ivory) that just needs some new strings and tuning, though it still sounds fine. I'm kind of hoping I'll inherit it as I seem to be the only grand child that plays piano. (:
My grandmother has a beautiful Thurmer Upright Grand piano, and the ivory is perfect (No chips like this one) and the casing is excellent, and all over the inside of the piano all on parts and the casing exc. it has written: 1887. And the touch of it is VERY heavy (which i love :) ) And yeah..... Oh and it sounds GREAT!!!!! (Needs a little tuning though :P)
I want to hear this live. Videos just don't do it. You got to be there and hear it live. Heck, take a seat and play it for yourself. Fall in love again. :-)
This sounds great except for the slightly out unisons. Awesome. This is the first video I've seen on youtube of a restored Chickering that sounds like a musical instrument. Was it necessary to replace the soundboard? At that age I assume so, but I'm just curious.
Doesn't sound like other Chickering's I've seen - the sound is far too cold. Think they may have gone too far with the restoration work.

Grand instrument for sure. I sure hope it's kept in top condition and when it reaches 150 and 200 years of age is still being played.

Wonderfull piece of art. Chickering is the most great pianomaker at his time. Nice bass and strong treble.

Hi Bob! Are you going to keep it and add it to your concert lineup? ---Randy
