If this was made now, sparks would be surrounded by women with Double D tits dancing in wet thongs and bras, his voice auto tuned just so it gets all originality out of it and have as little of him in the video as possible as he doesnt meet record companys needs for being a sex symbol -_- bring back the 60's and 70's :D
The best song of 1974 and Sparks at their best, even though they came up with more corking numbers later on. It still sounds chilling futuristic today and nice to see that Sparks are still going and inspiring new generations of musicians.
hard to imagine Ron and Russell mael are brothers. but never the less this song bring back happy childhood memories as an eight year old now 43 yrs old and it's dateless as well.
The very first record I ever asked for at 7 years old . It freaks me out why I asked for this mad/strange tune & this is TWO & HALF YEARS BEFORE any UK Punk scene. Anyway my parents had to stop playing it on the record player cos I got over excited! This is STILL an exciting record & remains my favourite record of all time.
Wionderful! That's the first time I'd seen that in 35 years! Used to get shown on Sunday mornings and before the kids' programmes, along with other promo films, as filler between programmes.
I'm wondering, where did they even show videos like this way back in 1974 ? The music video revolution was still some years away and I dont think they realy had any forum for them yet. I certainly dont recal them being shown on television back then.
sidcramp, you are one bloody legend for putting this up! Fantastic. I was wondering when someone would do it. Excellent song and video, love the bit when Martin shoots Russell at the beginning seeing as it was known that he'd never seen eye-to-eye with the Mael boys. That's rock'n'roll I guess. Also nice to see Adrian and Dinky in this video, who are sadly no longer with us. RIP.
I love the distortion. Adds nostalgia and a bit more thudding motion to the track.

Shame the sound is rather terrible. That's not really justice to a great pop song!

The first Sparks song I remember. lWith the unusual vocal style in this song I thought Sparks was a French band for most of the seventies. lol
They do bring back good memories of my youth. :)

Siouxsie and the Banshees did an excellent cover of this song. If you've never heard of them, you have been missing out!

The sound isn't the best, but at least it's a studio version which appears to be the only one on the 'tube.
1. I thought it was a woman singing this!
2. I thought it was a relatively new song!
3. This is a prime example of a song ahead of it's time!

@GarthanSaal444 I totally agree! I tried to find the studio version on youtube but I failed!

BEST Sparks line-up ever. The Mael brothers f*cked it all up firing Martin, a great bass player, his tone makes the "Kimono" LP.

Really really really great to see this!!
Unfortunately I've never seen much of Sparks' official videos - people say that there used to have some here on youtube, but they were deleted.
Or muted.
Or...
anyway, thanks for posting! Sparks changed my life!!

For the longest time I thought the edited lyrics were:
Choosing the girl is choosing
Between the menu What to do
Oh no Au jus.
The real lyrics can be heard on Propaganda
