  • I love the distortion. Adds nostalgia and a bit more thudding motion to the track.

  • WTF?

  • Shame the sound is rather terrible. That's not really justice to a great pop song!

  • PARA LA HISTORIA DE LA MUSICA!

    FOR THE HISTORY OF MUSIC

  • If this was made now, sparks would be surrounded by women with Double D tits dancing in wet thongs and bras, his voice auto tuned just so it gets all originality out of it and have as little of him in the video as possible as he doesnt meet record companys needs for being a sex symbol -_- bring back the 60's and 70's :D

  • always wanted to see this. thanks sidcramp.

  • Quite an ungainly jump from that Summer House Russell :-)

  • Oh yes. This is win.

  • The first Sparks song I remember. lWith the unusual vocal style in this song I thought Sparks was a French band for most of the seventies. lol

They do bring back good memories of my youth. :)

  • The best song of 1974 and Sparks at their best, even though they came up with more corking numbers later on. It still sounds chilling futuristic today and nice to see that Sparks are still going and inspiring new generations of musicians.

  • Wow the 80s must have been awesome, why do I have to live in the age of rap

it is like planet of the apes now

  • @Resdim This song and performance is even older - it's from 1974! :)

  • @Resdim

80s? This was early 1974 = wtf are you talking about?

  • The sound isn't the best, but at least it's a studio version which appears to be the only one on the 'tube.

    1. I thought it was a woman singing this!

    2. I thought it was a relatively new song!

    3. This is a prime example of a song ahead of it's time!

  • @GarthanSaal444 I totally agree! I tried to find the studio version on youtube but I failed!

  • ive always loved this song, used to play it full blast, ( didn`t make me popular with my parents, or next door neighbours lol)

  • BEST Sparks line-up ever. The Mael brothers f*cked it all up firing Martin, a great bass player, his tone makes the "Kimono" LP.

  • aaawsome :) cant get it out of my head these days!

  • I'll confess I checked this out because it was in "Kick Ass!"

  • on the the album... propaganda , amatuer hour is next if i remember rightly

  • not Propoganda, its on Kimono My House but yes Amateur Hour does follow it

  • the ultimate version here on you tube.

  • Wonderful

  • w0w...what a find....

That Russell bloke had charisma overload ( for an American)

  • never seen this before. One of my fave bands.Europe knows their greatness.U.S. will too

  • thank 4 the internet and YOUTUBE.. just had this (And thistown aint big Enough) in my head, wouldnt be able to sleep if i hadnt found it

  • glamtastic

  • very cool promo video! nice to see them in their prime. hope more of their 70's videos are posted.

  • ladylala

hard to imagine Ron and Russell mael are brothers. but never the less this song bring back happy childhood memories as an eight year old now 43 yrs old and it's dateless as well.

  • Sparks sound as fresh today as ever & this one is one of my faves. Cheers for the share!

  • got sparks are genius song writers.

  • The very first record I ever asked for at 7 years old . It freaks me out why I asked for this mad/strange tune & this is TWO & HALF YEARS BEFORE any UK Punk scene. Anyway my parents had to stop playing it on the record player cos I got over excited! This is STILL an exciting record & remains my favourite record of all time.

  • wow

  • Wionderful! That's the first time I'd seen that in 35 years! Used to get shown on Sunday mornings and before the kids' programmes, along with other promo films, as filler between programmes.

  • haha im 43 now and this still sounds good, ahhh memeories

  • Really really really great to see this!!

Unfortunately I've never seen much of Sparks' official videos - people say that there used to have some here on youtube, but they were deleted.

    Or muted.

    Or...

anyway, thanks for posting! Sparks changed my life!!

  • For the longest time I thought the edited lyrics were:

    Choosing the girl is choosing

Between the menu What to do

    Oh no Au jus.

The real lyrics can be heard on Propaganda

  • Thanks for posting this, and thank God it hasn't been muted (yet).

  • My very first pop music single... (in april 1974... or ... 35 years ago) .... at 12 years old.

  • I'm wondering, where did they even show videos like this way back in 1974 ? The music video revolution was still some years away and I dont think they realy had any forum for them yet. I certainly dont recal them being shown on television back then.

  • yes, man behind the keys is really great, but this is promo video and they needed a man with a soul on his face. they are brothers.

    great upload. good video.

  • huge mistake not featuring the keyboard player. he is dynamite. directors of vid should be kicked twice in the nuts.

  • Agreed

  • didn't no this video. russel and sparks are fantastic!!!

  • Oh! This is stunning. :) Wonderful.

  • Friggin' fantastic! But did they really need to have Russell holding the huge mic to his lips the ENTIRE film?

  • Even microphones had Afro cuts in those days!

  • Thanks for posting this long sought after video!

Was it aired as a part of a tv show called It's Bizarre, when they performed NCAW?

  • I can't remember but you're probably right

  • ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ove it

  • sidcramp, you are one bloody legend for putting this up! Fantastic. I was wondering when someone would do it. Excellent song and video, love the bit when Martin shoots Russell at the beginning seeing as it was known that he'd never seen eye-to-eye with the Mael boys. That's rock'n'roll I guess. Also nice to see Adrian and Dinky in this video, who are sadly no longer with us. RIP.

  • You'd be suprised how many people do not realise this video exists.

  • Fantastic, this glam rock is the reason that i started to air guitar a gibson, sends shivers down the old spine!

  • Excellent. Thanks. :)

  • OMG!!! Thanks so much for posting this sidcramp. I have been waiting so long to finally see this.

  • Ace as Martin GORDON is on it...
