It's a screen that projects the script of the person on camera.

And its in back of the camera, so the person can read the prompter, while still being faced towards the camera.

Watch her eyes, you can see them reading the prompter. Some really good talk show hosts, or any one else who has to read from a prompter doesn't even look like they're reading. She needs some work. Hah.
