Zaunstar, Rick Perry's "non-denominational" wish-list rally was held in Reliant stadium in Houston, Tx, about 15 minutes from where I live. I really dont know whether I was ever actually a Christian or not. I dont remember ever really believing in god, come to think of it, despite being raised in a vaguely christian household. Mum's english, and so technically a member of the church of england, having gone through all the rigors and trials necessary to become so, and she did have me baptized, but she's never been what you'd call 'churchy'. In fact, after my baptism, I only went to church for weddings.

She HATES when I call myself an Atheist though, despite being more of a vague spiritualist than an actual Christian herself. She believes in Jesus and God in the very broadest senses, but doesnt read the bible, doesnt like most of it, doesnt believe it's a holy book, just that it has a few truths in it.

I think the idea of there being 'nothing' there really scares her, though, so I dont press the issue. She never forced anything on me, so I dont do it to her, either. She's great :)

My mother is what I wish all Christians/spiritualists were like, basically; open minded, tolerant, reasonably credulous, and content enough in her own beliefs that she doesnt need anyone else to share them with her (because I never have, and she's never asked me to). She doesnt make embarassing or awkward proclamations like jesus be with you, or pray for strangers in public places, or fill her house with crosses. Faith is a small, quiet, friendly part of her life that's just for her own comfort.

I hate how schools think they have jurisdiction over the free speech said by students online. @Zaunstar Yeah, that's what bothers me about him. My mother was an "undocumented immigrant" but she was able to get her green card when the US had their amnesty period. My Dad (who was born in the US) got a lawyer and hashed things out. If Tancredo had his way, he would have broken up our family.

And of course, the big reason why a lot of Mexicans are coming to this country is because our War on Drugs have made drug cartels powerful and people live in fear and poverty because of it.
