I am an ottoman heritaged scientists, native Turkish. My grandfather`s father had been involved in these genocide. According to the dairy left, Turkish troops had tortured a whole village to death and some also slaughtered other Turks to get more land to put the blame on Armenians. We know that Turkish troops had not murdered Armenians only but some other Turkish civilians as well. This is a double blade for Turkey.

I would love for a post-President to go after the Turkish government and push for them to acknowledge the Genocide. I just feel that any active president needs Turkey as a strong strategic ally/ "Democracy". It is a shame that the West can acknowledge colonialism, slavery and discuss it like civilized people but Turkey cannot. I've been to Turkey and many of therepeople truly feel that they are invincible and have an inherent "us vs them" attitude. I do not understand it.

As a Turk I know what happened at the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire. I know and try to feel what happened nearly a century ago. But I got to ask that what happened to the harmony that last for 500 years between our cultures?
