  • You're not supposed to turn your front foot.

  • this is what i needed to see to get my knees on the right track.

  • Why am I always afraid of my kneecaps when I do this move? Is this psychological or are my concerns valid (i fear it is the first one)?

  • thanks Rob

  • I don't see how you would use tricep strength in clinch position, i'd say its more of a back work.. great 'tutorial' however! well explained

  • The second mistake is when his supporting legs pivots for 90 degrees. If your opponent moves backwards and you miss your straight knee you land turned sideways, which opens you for a low kick, kick in the back (MT) or a hook straight to the face.

  • Despite the fact that he had quite some fights, it doesn't make his technique perfect. First things first: When delivering front long range knees the most important thing is to cover the opposide side of your face (as when you block a hook). You cover the opposite side of your head, because the most commonly used counters to straight knees are the straight right or the left hook (depending on which knee you throw). (right knee - cross, left knee - left hook).

  • i need a punching back !

  • @TomSpartan218 hahahha i know. try looping it hahahaha

  • Thank you very much.

  • Top video. Very detailed explanations.

  • wow......this guy really goes into details! I think APPROPRIATE TEACHING starts here! He must be an extremely good teacher, and for sure he loves teaching!!!!Is he still an active fighter in MT?Has great figure!

  • need to know exactly what part of knee to stike with.. cuz i would fukkin hate to blow out my knee doin this wrong or if my opponent lifts their leg and our knees smash together and go bone to bone and fuckin end up hating life....

  • muay thai is very simple but very effective and very likely 2 fuck u up in old age

  • what part of the knee do you hit with?

  • @darthshadowxxx smack your knee all over with a hammer to find out

  • @darthshadowxxx your funny bone in your knee.

  • I love the detail in his instruction.I do this exact same knee off of my lead and rear feint push kick

  • interesting..the way i train:

frontal knee, my floored foot goes up(on my tippy toes), and the power comes from both the hip motion, and my back couter weighing my knee, as well as counter weighing my frontal knee .

  • Rob McCullough You need to come to New Orleans and teach.

  • this man has the body of a statue.......amazingly perfect! and the way he explains....very useful things!!I started doing Muay Thai 3 months ago,I am a female, and I love such explanations...I'd love to BUY stamina from somebody who has too much of it....I have shag all stamina,I want somebody elses'....!!!!:-))))

  • imagine taking one of those knees...ouch.

  • Rob is such an excellent instructor. Very thorough in his details

  • You're so pro!

  • Those orange county "muay thai" fighters make me laugh my ass off. When you walk around oc, everyone talks about how Mccullough can knock out Buakaw Por Pramuk, and how he is the GREATEST trainer in the world. He has everyone believing that he is the greatest, but why doesn't any of his Muay Thai fights ever show up on a database? They say he is a world champion in MT, but where is the proof? And if he is so great of a trainer, why does Tito Ortiz and everyone else in HB just SUCK on the feet?

  • @TecoyaThomas yeh looking at his knee drills, most thais wont knee drill with gloves on and the way he positions his body towards the right knee knstead of away from it? i dont get it, doesnt lean back far enough or point his toes enough either

  • Great teaching. Also the straight knee kinda reminds me of a karate front kick the way it just goes forward and digs into the opponent. But probebly alot more damage.

  • pro.....pro...

  • Push, KNEEEEE

  • Man id hate to get kneed in the balls by his knee!

  • @3876samf as a person who as been hit in the balls with this knee... i can tell you it is far from pleasent HAHA!

  • 3:41 LOL :))))

  • Great teacher, and muay thai is brutal. Love it

  • This guy's a great teacher. Very detailed.

  • Question - In the long run, would this type of strike be bad for the knees(health wise)?

  • yes... in the long run, in the short run --would be worst for beginners without a proper lower body workout regime... start with squats / jumping squats, or jumping on truck tyres

  • @ordoabchaos347 Everything in fighting is bad for the health in the long run :)

  • well like hes teaching.. the more detail he goes into the more the more you learn..

    quality mate..

  • HAHAHA, its not that bad, he goes into in depth with it which is cool.

  • Have to agree, many do not go into detail, and it is better to bereak down everything for new people.
