  • i don't plan on get a dog for a long time but i wish to move to yellow knife and get a wolf huskey cross, a rottweiler and a black lab, at different times. i love dogs and enjoy training as well but i don't know if those breeds would get along and be well in the cold wether.

  • Do you see a wolfdog as a pet or a friend?

  • What made you decide that you wanted a wolf dog? I am getting mine tomorrow and he is definately the playfull type and far from Alpha material. What is your advice in terms of taking him out and introducing him to other animals and people right off the bat?

  • @glassgod85 -- good for you and all the best in your efforts! I wouls suggest you spend some one on one time for a little bit, let em adjust to you and his new place. Then you can more easily integrate him with other people and animals. If there are cats involved, the sooner/younger, the better - as there are NO absolutes... some wolves may never be friendly with cats.

  • @birdmanproofwaffles: my parents bought a pitbull puppy from a reputable breeder, who was also a family friend. They checked the lineage of the dog, obedience trained it, set limitations but also treated it like their baby. She hit maturity & her hormones kicked in. She bit the ear off their other dog, attacked my cousin, tried to bite my mom & attack anyone that came near it. It's in their blood to kill

  • We had (he is my sisters baby now) a wolf-coyote-german shepherd mix.

He is pretty much the most layed-back 'dog' I've ever met. lol. He thinks he's a lapdog.

Thank you for making videos such as this.

  • i appreciate you putting a video like this up because i want a wolf hybrid but to be honest i really want a 100% wolf but thats probably a bad idea, anyways thanks again have a good one and btw that wolf is beautiful

  • i want a 75%wolf and 25% german shaphed

  • @sonbuhitsunel any dog is capable of hurting or killing you, i know uv probably herd this befor but it realy is how you train and raise it no matter what breed it is

  • @MsBerryMary why would you even have a pure bred wolf? It will end up killing you.

  • I'd be weary of their natural behaviors going into it- I mean, even if it is not an overtly aggressive animal, it IS in part a wolf, and IS capable of hurting or killing people- not exactly a family friendly option. I'm sure they are not the vicious beasts they're perceived as being, but my question would be, if I got one from a very young age and trained it (and I'm not an aggressively tempered person), could I trust that it would not one day have an off mood and just 'snap'?

  • I just got a Malamute/Timber wolf and my roommate got a German Shepard/Timber wolf same dad 4 days apart. We have our hands full with these too but we have time and a lot of love to help these animals grow and develop in a way that would make them safe to be with us in the house and around strangers but balancing between disciplining them as dogs and respecting their primal personalities is going to be something to balance. I'm going to pick up that book you mentioned, thanks for the info.

  • my wolfdog is the cooooolest wolfdog ever he is the best

  • where did you get them i wanna know where to get one

  • If werewolves existed, and there was an attack near this guy's home, he'd be my prime suspect. In other words, the wolf dog is clearly a fine match for him. ;)

  • I'd like to show my apreciation towards another hybrid owner.

My wife and I have raised a timber wolf/Siberian Huskey and a Tundran wolf/Shepperd,both lived for 13-14 years.Yesterday we bought an 8 week old female Timber/Greywolf/Shepperd.The mother is pure Timperwolf, and the father is over 90% Greywolf with a small percantage Shepperd dog..It;s good to still see some people with the experience and knowledge to raise Hybrids, and the apreciation and respect they have for these animals.

  • Missy is our Wolf/Boxer mix shes a handful but shes a pure joy to have she looks like a Mexican red wolf. Shes 3 years old now and just got a friend which did not work she tried to kill our new pet we got a Pyranesse that was 2 years old in case we couldnt break them up now there doing much better but I think we made a oops getting another pet, nowing nothing about the pyrannese breed

  • HE'S A-DOG-ABLE!

  • I want a Wolf Hybrid lol I heard many states don't require permits for low content Wolf Hybrids is this true? If so I guess there more reliable as pets?

  • since you love wolves you should HELP save the wolves plz :D

  • What temperment do you usually get considering wolves have more of a natural tendancy to distance themselves from humans, while the domesticated dog has a tendancy to please and stay near humans? Do you get conflict when you breed 2 opposites?

  • how do u get one and they are like wolfs yes

  • I respect what you're doing.

There are too many reckless breeders and consumers owning/selling wolf dogs out of profit or admiration of their beauty- but they're much more than a pretty face and a full wallet: they're a massive responsibility.

Educating the masses is a step in the right direction. Not everyone can own a wolf dog, and those who take them in -but are unable to handle them- usually give them up with nowhere to go. These poor cases will likely be put down.

    Education saves lives.

  • @MsBerryMary -- NO. I have no knowledge nor personal experience with pure line wolves.

  • If you are this experienced, why do you insist calling them "hybrids"? A more scientific nomenclature would be "wolfdog", as they are part dog part wolf. However, thanks for a very good "primer" training video! You did a good job! And PLEASE, O Readers, do not get ANY kind of large canine unless you have done EXTENSIVE research on the breed specifics. Wolfdogs require a total life commitment.

  • we got our two from a rescue for $250 :) I love ours. Jake and Lilly are totally different from eachother. Jake is very laid back and a ppl lover. Lilly is more stand offish, she'd rather just hangout out side then in the house. She also has a bit more of an attitude then Jake does lol They both love tomatoes! Lilly will let you love on her for hours if she got all the tomatoes she could eat lol Our two were pretty easy to house break easier then any other dog we had! Thnks for making this vid

  • People please dont just go out and get a dog or a hybrid. Take the time to make the decision. This is a long term commitment. Dont just be self-serving to your wants, but serving the needs for your animal.

  • @JudyHealingPaws -- Agreed. In fact, in my videos I always speak of a book called "Wolfdogs A-Z" and I STRONGLY suggest that you read that book first - educate yourself so you know what to expect. You might be getting over your head. My videos are aimed at education, not promoting people own exotic pets!!!

  • if you raise wolves can you keep them

  • Is yours mixed with GSD? it looks like the saarloos of the UK, which is a breed of dog created using wolf x GSD hybrids.

  • I have a hybrid, high percent(85 or more), female, got her at 5 mo. no socialization, never had a collar on, terrified of people. It was a LOT of work to socialize her. I paid 200 for her. Wolves are a lot more than the average person can handle. I love my girl but it's hard when your pet can open any door, escape any fence, and do basic math. Your dog won't know how to translate what they're saying, and neither will your wolf be able to translate into dog. It's a life-long commitment; BE READY!

  • lol my cousinbought a "half wolf half dog hybrid" and later found out it was just a huskie....

  • HYBRIDS ARE A BAD IDEA DO UR RESEARCH !!!!

  • I talked down an agressive wolf hybrid once, I was amazed how sensitive it was!

*Growls and jumps at me* "Hey hey hey, NO, nooo, noo, *whimpers*

I think my ptibull female got him excited. XD

  • @dukenukemthreed -- :) yeah, they're almost shy at times. not the big bad beasts a lot of people imagine.

  • whats the difference between a wolf dog and a hybird wolf dog ?

  • @ramiabuhamra1 to answer your question there is no difference. they are the same thig just different names for them.

  • @ramiabuhamra1

They are Wolf Dogs, not truly Hybrids. Hybrid is a term misused that was later deemed improper. A "hybrid" is a cross between 2 species and they cannot produce fertile offspring. Wolves and Dogs are 1 species. The Hybrid term is still used, but they are the same.

  • @ramiabuhamra1 - Nothing. Hybrid just means that something is part (a) and part (b). Like cherry-cola. lol.

  • Keep posting!!!! I would love to hear more of Gambit!!!!! I am looking into getting a hybrid wolf and all the info I can get will help my decision all the better. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful creature with the world.

  • It's cool of you to put up videos like this. ^^ A neighbor of mine had one, was really sweet and exceptionally big even for a wolf hybrid (think great dane, and this was when he was about a year and a half old) but you had to be careful because if you looked him in the eyes just wrong or got too stiff around him he'd still react. So I think it's cool that you'd take time out to help people better understand this underrated animal. =)

  • I was a bit cautious about this video. I've worked in an animal shelter in Greece for 4 years and some of the most troubling cases we had were wolf hybrids brought to us because the owners couldn't handle them anymore or were bitten by the animals.

I was half-expecting to hear the usual misconceptions but you've given me a pleasant surprise. You've obviously done your research and prepared yourself to handle these creatures. My sincerest congratulations for spreading the knowledge to others.

  • @ElvenAngel -- thanks a lot, I appreciate that. My intentions were never to promote people to own exotic pets, only to educate people. I when I got my wolves, I was exposed to a nasty area of people who kept wolves in 5x5 kennels, often 4 wolves at a time. A lot of them were breeders. It was disgusting to me. I realized that some people thought of them as simply 'cool and exotic" while others saw a meal ticket in breeding them. We do what we can.

  • are wolf hybrids larger than wolfs?

  • loves fruit? dont feed him grapes... can cause kidney failure

  • @jmarsh433 --- sometimes, green animals. that's about all. thanks, I didn't know that about the grapes.

  • have you any ideas on where to get a pup in texas?

  • only in USA ? is there any of this Wolfdogs in Europe ?

  • Very cool to provide this info to people perhaps just out for a cool pet (such as myself). I still find them fascinating, but am no longer under delusions about what owning them will entail.

  • can wolfdogs have pups?

  • i got 4 wolves all together, do you think it would be good to break the cubs from the mom they are 9 weeks old now and still get milk from her they are beautiful wolves but what do you think?

  • @dwreck0830 -- sorry for the delay in response, I didn't see this comment! Well, it's been a month now - how did it work out? Did you separate them from the others?

  • Nice video, I'm getting my first wolfdog next week from the local shelter. This video provided some great knowledge presented in a good way, thanx

  • That's a great dog you got there

  • i saw one of these it and it was the HUGEST dog i've ever seen bigger than a great dane! And it's eyes were this insane silver..

  • Dude, you did not just name your hybrid after the xmen XD

  • @gingagirl116 -- LMAO. Partially. When I got him, I already had another alpha male wolf and the odds of him making it was slim to none - we were trying to take him out of a bad situation. I said something about him needing some supernatural luck and that's when "Gambit" sort of clicked.

  • I really want one and I've done a lot of research on them, and everyone seems to say that wolfdogs are not good first time dogs. As a kid my parents would never let me have a family dog so I have no experience with dogs, does just volunteering at a rescue shelter count? Do you think breeders would let me volunteer with them so I can get some first hand experience with wolfdogs?

  • they are ALOT of work....ALOT...cant say that anough...not like a normal dog....I had one pretty much dumped in my lap, she was sick and tiny..nursed her to health...now she is a year old. She's awesome...but they only listen when they want to. They are smart. And are pretty good at reading body language...but she is not like a regular dog....I love her...but I would NOt suggest getting one unless you have patience of a saint...and are a strong but loving type of person.

  • Will hybrid wolf's every bite back or do you really have to agitate them. Also are there diets different. So I guess no dog food? Also how are aggressive are they around unknown people and other dogs. And the biggest thing is do they like walks early in the morning? Thanks if you answer these questions! I'm really interested into getting one of these dogs.

  • what's being house broken?

  • whats being house broken?

  • You hit it on the mark about the jerks who buy dogs for show and just keep them in small kennels and limit their exercise. Aggressive people should not have dogs, its the same reason why pitbulls have a bad name. They are sweet dogs, just caught a bad rep because they were not raised with love and socialized.

  • Please excuse my ignorance but do these hybrids tend to get angry easily? You know, like wild wolves do?

  • Thanks for making this video. I have a hybrid also. She is the perfect fit and part of my family. I work from home and take her everywhere, so I have the time to be with her. I had to change my life to blend her pack mentality with my life. For people who love loyalty and have the time, I think it can be a perfect mix. I couldn't have picked a better wolf. It was a LOT of work though. Thanks again.

  • There good pets if treated right. You just got to love them.

  • Really friendly animals.

My uncle's wolf dog only has a week left to live. He's been diagnosed with bone cancer. :'(

  • I'm definitely considering a hybrid in the future. I've never seen a dog eat a carrot that's hilarious!

  • I want a 150+pounds Hybrid, but i'll get more dog experience before haha

  • hey ya, it's god to watch someone with some sense!

my two male wolf hybrids are now 10 months old, i have had no trouble at all :)

check out my channel! i have some videos, my hybrids a quite stocky

i completely agree with what you saying about controlling the alpha, our alpha is very gentle, and generally does what he's told (we do have a problem getting him in the cars sometimes, it makes him dribble, but we have been working on t, and he has improved massively)

  • As I human can I be an Alpha?

  • can you help me how to get one? like what site and stuff, but coz i live in australia its hard to find one can you help me?

  • I had no idea that this was possible~ thank you for the video! :)

  • My friend had one and he killed the family dog and the baby so they put him to sleep. Don't you need a permit to own half WILD , VISCIOUS, but beautiful dog. Whoi breeds wolves with dogs the balance of nature was not ment to have pet wolf dogs1.

  • where can you get one?

  • I have 2 wolf hybrids and I love them both. My male, Cheeky, is 1/2 artic/timber wolf 1/2 husky and my female, Sadie, is 3/4 timber wolf 1/4 husky. They both road on our semi for a while till we moved. Neat to see that my 2 are not the only ones that eat veggies.

  • Hey man thanks for the video. i was wondering where you personally acquired your dogs. might be moving to florida so i worry about the temperature, should i be??

  • @glitchable -- I got mine from a breeder here in central Florida. But she doesn't breed any longer due to a personal sickness. However, central Florida is damn near polluted with these animals and in my opinion TOO MANY people keeping them in small little kennels as some sort of ego status, you know, exotic pets and such.

  • Hey man thanks for the video. i was wondering where you personally acquired your dogs. Ive been considering getting one for about 2 months now doing lots of research about the dogs and taking care and such and i think this is the perfect dog. But i might be moving to florida so i worry about the temperature, should i be??

  • good day i want to contact you to find more out about the breed and im looking for your fone number so i can cal you

  • @mmaartenv -- well, how about you shoot me an email first?!

  • Awesome I'm getting one tomorrow that looks just like a real wolf.

  • @C06coolvette -- cool, hit me back with a photo or consider sharing a video if you do?!

  • @OurTVproductions

I'm that person with the blue Doberman that sent you those messages. lol.

  • how do u get one n how much will it cost i really want one n ive done the research

  • @ShaneA0222 -- they cost anywhere from around $400 - $1500. Probably around $700 would be an average though.

  • @ShaneA0222 u claim uve done research but u dont even know where to get one, and how much it costs...those are the 2 first things that i research when ddoing the research. how long did you research? 3 minutes???

  • @rctriplefresh5 -- I know where to get one and how much they cost? I'm just not assisting anyone else in the matter. I'm not promoting the selling and owning of exotic pets. My advice is to educate yourself on the animal if you're serious about owning one. In the process you will discover how find one and how much they cost.

  • The reason you need to get 2 wolves is because of plenty reasons.

You need to spend a hell of a lot of time with them, and when you are not there, they need a buddy. You don't exactly need to get another wolf, but another dog would be just fine. Wolves are escape artists, and they hate being inside, you need strong ground and strong fencing. I live in Kansas, where appearantly, you don't need a license for any exoctic animal, cept wolves and such.

I just wanted to share this info.

  • I want to save the wolves and get a hybirid pup

  • @hanandkay555 -- that's a noble idea :)

  • @hanandkay555

If you want to save the wolf, you should NOT get a hybrid, but a pure bred wolf. problem is they are hard to keep as pet.

  • omigod he's beautiful, im thinking of woning one.

  • great video!!

  • Recently posted an updated 3 part question and answer video mini-series. Check it out, give me a thumbs up if you like and let me know if you have any specific questions!

  • I would really like a hybrid wolf dog but I dont think you can get them in Australia )':

  • pretty dog

    how much are wolfdogs?

  • is this a cezcoslovackian wolfdog? I love it!

  • hi, i have two hybrids, but I was wondering if you can help me out. How do I get them to stay in the crate and not be afraid of it and also how do I stop them from chewing up their blanket? Thank you :)

  • 98% is the highest by law considered a wolfdog, but the last time privately owned wolves without federal permits existed in the US was at the end of the 1950s, dont believe the hype about wolfdogs and percentages of wolf in them. Anyone who tells you otherwise has oceanfront property for sale in the middle of the desert.

  • Hey man, how is that animal a hybrid? a male dog and a female wolf?? how do you do it, they reproduce naturally?

  • @renzo111222 yeah they just mate and a hyrbrid is born

  • @renzo111222 yes wolves and dogs can breed

  • Are they legal in TX? I would love to have one. Had a Siberian and German sherpard for a long time.

  • Can you buy a wolf hybrid in England because they are beautiful and I know I could handle one as I have trained gsd dogs and Belgian malinois shepherds before. If I cannot own a wolfdog I will have to stick with a native American Inuit dog. Thankyou

  • yeah mate u can ^^ i just looked up wolf hybrids in uk and thats it give it a go

  • That wolf will eat you in a year when you're sleeping.

  • great vid man... good solid info from someone who knows what they are talking about

  • Your wolf hybrid pup is so cute!

  • Sounds like a husky at the end. But then again I guess they say the husky is the closest domesticated dog to the wolves.

  • You have to have a lot of space for a hybrid, just like you have to for wolves. It is best to have an enclosure for them to have as their own space. You're absolutely right inexperienced people should not get a hybrid. Too often do people get a wild animal and forget that it is wild. This is when mistakes happen, and the animal is blamed.

  • arent they considered wolf dogs?

  • your videos are quite informative, great job!

Ive been dog training and dealing with working high prey drive Dogs like shepherds, Belgium shephards, Rotties, and a a few crosses of Shephards and even a low content wolf hybrid for some years now.

Ive also fostered a few hybrids and there are some differences but the reality is that 90% of people who want Hybrids have no business getting them

They fail to realize that they require more time than most dogs do.

  • @8huskies Good luck...you're going to need it.

  • my old dog got taken from me she was 1/2 wolf 1/2 pit she was taken from me because she was considered an aggressive bread i have her for 5 years she never growled i could lay my hand in her food bowl and she would lay down wouldnt every try to challenge me she even slept in the bed with me even tho she was a blanket hog she was the sweetest dog ever but she was taken from me and was put down because of an ignorant woman who had a chiwawa that loved escaping to bite me

  • Those dogs are fucking awesome, thats a real dog!

  • I never thought they eat vegetables. That would lower the cost of feeding them, at least in some countries. This video gave me a lot of value today, so thanks to the poster.

  • Where would I get a low-content wolfdog? I have a cat and two toddlers (little siblings) and I know for a fact I need the lowest content possible. Thing is... all breeders really breed high-contents.... So what would I do in that situation?

  • Anyone who is very knowledgeable about wolfdogs should know they are NOT HYBRIDS! and should never be kept as pets.

  • to mój Szarak! aaaaaaaaaa!

  • where do yous even get a wolf dog

    i want one =]

  • Great video. I just adopted a wolfdog, read Nicole Wilde's books and did extensive research & volunteered at wolf sanctuary before doing so. It's not a decision made lightly, they are a lot of work and take a lot of patience but so worth it if you're willing to put forth the effort and have the right temperament and home for them!

  • i had one jake he was 14 olny a few months age

  • i had one jake he was 14 olny a few months age

  • thank you for the upload. This video was useful. I own a husky and akita inu and they are closely related to wolves and yeah they pretty much act like wolf-dog.

  • @00GreyEyedGirl00 maybe to help the gene pool. Its an idea. Just cause you think it should be illegal means???? Ho did our ancient fore fathers get a dog for christ sake

  • I don't understand... Why breed wolves and dogs to begin with? Wolves should be in the wild or in zoos breeding with their own species. I mean hello! They're endangered! Breeding wolves with dogs does nothing to solve that problem. I think it should be illegal.

  • @00GreyEyedGirl00

Worldwide that isn't true. Canada has around ~50,000 and Russia may have more than that.

  • This is a very good video for those who want to own a hybrid. As a dog trainer, a wolf researcher and an animal behavior student I know that MOST people are not suited, nor suitably informed enough to own a hybrid but this was an informative video.

I don't approve of the proactive breeding or seeking of hybrid wolfdogs--we have domesticated dogs, and we have wolves. The interbreeding combines characteristics that CAN, in fact, create unpredictability but not always. PLEASE consider carefully!

  • Hi thank's for the vid.

I just wanted to add a comment about Saarloos, They are actually GS/wolf mix originally.

I own a czechoslovakian wolfdog which is a different thing than a wolf dog hybrid, but could be a very good compromise for somebody looking for a pet with wolves attributes. They are fairly easy to raise compare to hybrids.

  • I like wolf-dogs. The first (and only) wolf-dog I met was a Canadian husky hybrid named Bandit and he was really friendly, obedient and protective. He came when you called him and he even slept outside the bedrooms when everyone else had gone to bed. He was one the sweetest, gentlest I'd ever met and, as I understand it, he was around 90% wolf and was starved by his previous owners. I only saw him once or twice and even then I was really upset when he died that's how big an impact he had on me.

  • Beautiful animals. But I believe dogs and wolves should never be bred under any circumstances.Thank god for wolf rescues.Wolves are wild animals and should remain that way, they shouldnt be kept as pets whatsoever.

  • hey man I been thinkin about getting dog, im really interested in these cuz tehre so badass!!!

how much is the average price for one of these

  • hey man! thanks so much for this video. i got a wolf and she is about to have puppies and i am planning on raising one in the house

  • Excellent, Fadatak! You should consider filming some of the their behaviors and your observations?! Sort make your own documentary, unless you're planning on selling some of them?

    Eitherway, thanks!

  • very good idea. i will document it well.

no im not selling any of the pups. my wolf is 100% european wolf raised at home since a pup. she is pregnant with a blackjack german shepherd. so its not exactly a long line of wolfdog breeding lol

this is why i am reasearching as much as possible about hybrids at the moment. never had one. only pure wolves

  • are you going to sell the puppies?

  • what do you think of the saarloos wolfhound,s ?

  • are these dogs very protective my dog is hafe german and hafe grey wolf, he is 24 weeks old and weights about 65 pounds but he seems real skidish

  • what is your opinion of the saarloos wolfhound and what may be more trainable a male or a female?

  • I've had better experiences with the males. And I'm not quite familiar with the saarloos wolfhound... was there something in particular that concerned you?

  • This dog would own in a fight.

  • You should see his father! He's freakishly large! I'm talking about - he quite literally towered over the others! The wolf in this video is now nine months old and about as large as our GSP. But not nearly as large as his pops. He's still got some growing in him so who knows.

  • Do Hybrid Wolf get long with cats ?

  • @wicca936 Ours do, but they should not be left alone with them. Hybrids have a wolf's high prey drive and will go after small animals.

  • Yes and NO! I have two wolves and one gets along with cats fine - the other is like Dexter Morgan with any cat that gets in our yard! My advice to anyone interested in one these animals is to do your research first and when you go to pick out your animal be sure to watch for their temperaments.

  • Please remember this: even German Shepherd dogs have been known to become aggressive towards their owners as they reach old age (beyond 10 years). I know, I raise only large German Shepherd Dogs, my smallest is a 75 pound female mixed with a border collie. If you have never had experience raising large breed dogs do not take on a wolf hybrid as your first attempt. I think the author of this video would agree with me on that. But besides that, I love these beautiful creatures. Nice vid.

  • I agree, I grew up with Shepherds - all my family are big Shepherd fans/owner and we've experienced this before as well.

And yes, I definitely agree with you - IF YOU"RE A FIRST TIME BIG-DOG OWNER DO NOT GET A HYBRID FOR YOUR FIRST!!!!

These creatures are quite different and I believe a higher intelligent/coherent person should own one (after) being properly educated about them.

They're not the monsters people have made them out to be but they are different and we've gotta respect that

  • We enjoyed your video we have a black Arctic Timber with yellow eyes and is now 6 years old and we can say they are wonderful and harmless

  • ah! he sounds beautiful, any videos online of him?! my current wolves mother was an dark timber with yellow eyes.... just a glance at her was in itself a mystique!

Quite beautiful. But the females, from my experience, are more timid - I've had better success raising the males.

  • Hey guys,

I've been documenting my hybrid wolf "Gambit" growth over these past several months. In accordance, I've uploaded several videos sharing footage and information on training the animal. In one video I feed my wolf from my mouth to his - which is something a lot of people wouldn't have imagined possible but it is and it should go to show that these are not the beasts they've been singled out to be!

So please check out the series. I've got new videos coming soon so check back?

  • gimme a break.

  • why do you say that?

  • very much so. but they can be trained to be non agressive

  • oh no they can't. You can make them less aggressive, but completely? Don't think so. They will always be more aggressive than pure dogs.

  • Ah, this is not true.

Although it is true that they have a more wild edge to them but they also have a higher cognitivie functionability. They're quite smart alone and in a pack they are a single brilliant unit.

So Jake's partially correct, you have to respect their primal side and their abilities but also note that they aree not aggressive (like pitbulls or especially those little cute dogs!).

So, no I do't agree that they are and will always be more more aggressive, not my experie..

  • ah.. i read many things from many places and many of the materials i've read say that they are more aggressive than dog and harder to take care of. i actually want a wolfdog very much. so are they easy to take care of. i would like it very much if those other sources were wrong.

  • I just think that they're different, but I wouldn't say agree that they are more aggressive. What makes them seem aggressive is that they are heirchy animals and they demand a role, especially the alphas.

In fact, I am going to suggest to EVERYONE listening and considering on getting a hybrid to NOT get an alpha unless you're an experience owner/breeder.

As for taking care of them, again, just different. they hop fences, they're terroritorial/protective of your house... etc..

  • are they protective over their owners?

  • Like a jealous wife! jk

But seriously, they're very much a pack animal and a 'family' animal. they want you (their master) to be pleased with them, to show them affection... they're a lot like us ya know.

Once bonded with you they will normally fight to the death and at even just the HINT of aggression.

So remember to those this applies, it's not cool to tell them to "sick em boy.." to your friends! lol

  • how good would these dogs do in a defencceive role? my GSD is very good loyal and protective. she is also trained in tactical maneuvers . woudl a wolfdog be any good for this? or are they just to unpredictable? i love having a good loyal companion but my dogs know how to carry their own weight so to speak.

  • Extremely protective and very well one on one bonded. Although they are family or pack animals, they want to please us, who they quite literally see as their master. After all, it us who brings the food and who will punish them for things that seem normal and natural to them.

As for maneuvers, exteremely!! These animals move like nothing I've ever seen! They love to jump and can scale an 8ft fence with ease. My cub once leaped across our large fire pit in the back yard, it was something to c

  • splendid. i really want to get one of these but im just not sure about politeness. (if thats a word) like . if some one comes over will i have to worry? and are they really that trainable? is there any place you can recommend for information on them?

also one last thing how should i go about find one? i live in TN by the way.

  • Yeah I hear you on that. Personally, I will never go back to owning a regular dogs... I just prefer these animal's sense of pack and unity - and they're much more aware of us I do believe. It's interesting. That's why I often say that they're like a hybrid of Cat and Dog!

As owning one, take in consideration the need for fencing, expect the chewing stage to be a nightmare, and moreso, you've gotta learn how to adapt to them... that's very important. So I guess they are high maintance!
