Goku only used his instant transmission bc he thought it would kill himself and cell but he was mistaken. so in truth Gohan couldnt have defeated Cell without Vegeta's help. seeing as how Vegeta jumped in to distract Cell. after Cell gave him a thrashing.

Henchman were not killed by goku alot, I mean like the genyu force they were knocked out by goku but killed by vegeta. Kai, bubbles ect were killed in the explosion because of Cell, Goku caused them to die but he didn't kill them. Raditz was killed (along with goku) by piccolo's cannon beam.

@pilootcollins It's an understood rule in DBZ that you need your eyes to sense energy effectively. For example, Gohan had to sense energy AND look around to be able to keep up with Nappa's movements in the Saiyan Saga. They also never stated they could sense energy to the point of blind fighting.
