I read somewhere today that Andrew meyer may have preplanned his behaviour in the hope of getting arrested and on Youtube. But that arguement misses the whole point.
No one appears to make much attempt to defuse the situation non violently in the first place.
If the only way the police can get someone to stop using a mic is by jumping on him and electrocuting him then that's all the evidence I need to be concerned
kl tune and vid. really helps get the message across. Seen how yer saying the polis are getting more kitted up out there(and fitting up more ppl, lol).
Same these side of the pond as well. Our polis always seem to be a year or 2 behind yours, so expecting it soon. Last demo i went to we were 'escorted, penned in,etc.
ppl are discussing this , seen it heaps places about book 1st boy was carrying
it sucks...because while the police gear up, the people get more aggitated...once tear gas gets involved, the shit hits the fan...
also, there are undercover cops that infiltrate crowds and try to create riot-like situations...to work the crowd up into a frenzy, so they get beaten up, maced, and arrested...its a dispicable tactic...
If a building owner requests that someone be removed, then they have the right to remove. If the said removed assaults the officer removing him, then yes, you will get arrested and if you are far too out of control, you will be tased.
An elecrical charge going through the body of a person who has a heart condition, such as an arrythmia can kill them. It has happened many times. I have a heart arrythmia and a natural rapid heart beat, I could DIE being tasered. And cops these days seem to just love zapping anyone anytime its possible. No, you don't want it to happen to you.
Uhhh, I would hardly say he was "assulting" them, he was scared and went into hyper mode, but he was never threatening. Do you really want to live in a country where Americans must live in fear of their Government and police???
Do you really fear your Government or the police? Seriously? It's easy for all of us to sit at our computer's and say "oh golly gee whiz, that poor kid, our gah damn gov't is too forceful." And exploit this situation to the highest extent. (continued one comment down)
But the fact that some high and mighty college kid who misunderstands the law freaks out and freaks the police out and they shock him is not something I see as an example of the police's use of excessive force or need for reform, I see it as a situation that got way out of hand, at blame of the student and police.
If excessive force results in death, I think that is something to worry about, people have died who have been tasered, its not quite the sweet slap you seem to believe it is. What makes you think he is a "high and mighty" college kid? Maybe he is working full time and paying his way through school, just like my kid did!!!
Actually yes, since the passage of The Patriot Act, I do fear the powers the government has conferred upon itself. when the president of our country refers to the Constitution as "a piece of paper." Yes, and when I see the police escalating a situation instead of de-escalating it,I do fear for my rights as should we all. BTW I have lived in two different countries that were military dictatorships, so I'm not just sitting around having an "oh,my" experience, I know it first hand.
Fair enough. I find your points valid and I agree with you on most of them. I can't say I grew up in military dictatorship or anything of the sort, all I have is stories of my grandparents leaving Cuba. What I fear more than our Government though, is our nation's apathy to the situation, it's like everyone shut down and ignores it.
Yes, that is why when people are tasered for getting a little excited or when people are arrested for putting up posters we need to take heed. Apathy is killing so many everyday.
that is true, apathy is our greatest enemy and many people in this country have become apathetic which makes us all vulnerable to abuses of those in power. So, when a citizen or citizens speak up whether we agree or disagree we must support the underlying principal that they have that right guaranteed by the constitution.
even more almost everyone is brainwashed to support these nazis, sometimes we believe we are alone because the media doesnt show us whats going on they are not on our side.
"ToTo..I don't think we are in Kansas anymore," said Dorothy to her dog. Folks..does this look like a country founded on the principals as stated in the commentary of this video??? Hmmm? I DON'T think so. WE have a problem and its going to take all of us to fix it, but we can and we will. think about the past, how ONE person could make a difference, you know who those people are. Each one took a stand, thats what it takes.
great video! two of the cops got suspended with pay pending an investigation. it's a sad comment on free speech indeed when things like this happen. 5/5* fav-ed.
that is good to know...and its good to see people paying attention to this kid's story...it is important that this shit is discussed out in the open...it will help us to keep those freedoms that are being ripped away from us...
Unfortunately, as history has proven over and over and over; rights and laws mean nothing if those with the power to enforce them so choose. It's hard to debate legal precident while you're being tackled, shackled, and shocked. A moral police force is essential for a moral society.
I agree...if they aren't going to listen to reason, they are just like robots programmed to do simple tasks and follow orders blindly...with voice recognition of their owners...and all other voices "do not compute"....
Lucky for us, robots aren't anywhere near sophisticated enough to be given tazer guns...yet. According to hawking, the most sophisticated AI system ever designed doesn't have the critical thinking capacity of an earthworm, but it's a point well taken. Police training works to program them to act in a very specific manner; attack, subdue, cage. Since that's what they're trained to do, it's hard to expect them to do anything else. Rivers begin at the spring, not the ocean.
yeah...and it seems to be getting worse...because recently these police have been given almost full body armor...I was watching protest footage from the civil rights movement in the 60s, and those police had normal uniforms on, but with helmets...now they have gas masks, shields, and full body protection...they look like fucking storm troopers...and I think that must feed into their psyche...that they are invincible and "better than" the protesters...
great vid man. those cops are completely insane. land of the free my ass and most people seem to be oblivious to it. are they choosing ignorance induced by fear. 5*****
hey dude. just watched that 'get ur shit..' vid. its shocking how mindless and brainwashed the pro-war movement is. its like a bunch of crazy people were hired to disrupt the march, I say that cos I find it so hard to believe people can be that stupid.ur doin good things here man.keep it up.Thanks.
I think it comes down to trust...they have a deep trust of authority and of the government...and anybody who speaks out "must be wrong" because the government is "always right"...and if they think that way, they do crazy shit to uphold those ideals...
i had read that andrew meyers was charged with resisting arrest with violence-a felony-and disturbing the peace. He was released without bond. maybe five years, for being unpolished in questioning and being rude at the microphone for going over the one minute limit.
yeah, except now the police don't even need to swing their arms...they just taser...and then taser again...their fingers must get sore after a while...
i would like to say something intelligent but i'm not that bright. so here it goes.....yea that was definitely some bull shit! keep fighting the injustice my souljah friend!
have you seen the new reality show on tv called 'the academy'?...its friggen insane what these police officers go through just to get a badge...its like a crazy fraternity initiation...
that opened clip was all i needed to see(though i saw the rest too)C'MON, EVEN JUST THINK WHAT IT COULD BE LIKE IF THE WORLD WAS RUN BY US 'THE PEOPLE'.it might even be peaceful.
that andrew meyers guy got what he was asking for. he became irate as he went further and further into his speach, and when they tried to pull him away because he was making a scene, he resisted.
great response...I guess you have nothing else to say, so resort to something like that...I guess that shows the hollowness of your prior statement...
Actually, he walked away from the mic right after he asked the three questions he said he would ask. It wasn't till after he peacefully walked away that two officers grabbed him and caused the whole scene to escalate.
oh come on, if conservatives had their way, we'd be living under idealized 18th century morality and birth control would be illegal. No conservative wants free speech, they want everyone to obey and follow their rules.
No wonder you Americans are hated around the world and in the last 10 years you turned allies into people who now repulse your country ... look at you eh, power hungry invading terrorists who call themselves land of the free who eat the shit of patriotism who when your own people who are awake try to warn you what's going on you turn on them too. nice 1 US of asses lots of love UK

markangeloc 4 years ago
An elecrical charge going through the body of a person who has a heart condition, such as an arrythmia can kill them. It has happened many times. I have a heart arrythmia and a natural rapid heart beat, I could DIE being tasered. And cops these days seem to just love zapping anyone anytime its possible. No, you don't want it to happen to you.
maggothon 4 years ago
Uhhh, I would hardly say he was "assulting" them, he was scared and went into hyper mode, but he was never threatening. Do you really want to live in a country where Americans must live in fear of their Government and police???
maggothon 4 years ago 2
Do you really fear your Government or the police? Seriously? It's easy for all of us to sit at our computer's and say "oh golly gee whiz, that poor kid, our gah damn gov't is too forceful." And exploit this situation to the highest extent. (continued one comment down)
WithMyOwnHands 4 years ago
But the fact that some high and mighty college kid who misunderstands the law freaks out and freaks the police out and they shock him is not something I see as an example of the police's use of excessive force or need for reform, I see it as a situation that got way out of hand, at blame of the student and police.
WithMyOwnHands 4 years ago
If excessive force results in death, I think that is something to worry about, people have died who have been tasered, its not quite the sweet slap you seem to believe it is. What makes you think he is a "high and mighty" college kid? Maybe he is working full time and paying his way through school, just like my kid did!!!
maggothon 4 years ago
Actually yes, since the passage of The Patriot Act, I do fear the powers the government has conferred upon itself. when the president of our country refers to the Constitution as "a piece of paper." Yes, and when I see the police escalating a situation instead of de-escalating it,I do fear for my rights as should we all. BTW I have lived in two different countries that were military dictatorships, so I'm not just sitting around having an "oh,my" experience, I know it first hand.
maggothon 4 years ago
Fair enough. I find your points valid and I agree with you on most of them. I can't say I grew up in military dictatorship or anything of the sort, all I have is stories of my grandparents leaving Cuba. What I fear more than our Government though, is our nation's apathy to the situation, it's like everyone shut down and ignores it.
WithMyOwnHands 4 years ago
Yes, that is why when people are tasered for getting a little excited or when people are arrested for putting up posters we need to take heed. Apathy is killing so many everyday.
PisceanBeautyy 4 years ago
that is true, apathy is our greatest enemy and many people in this country have become apathetic which makes us all vulnerable to abuses of those in power. So, when a citizen or citizens speak up whether we agree or disagree we must support the underlying principal that they have that right guaranteed by the constitution.
maggothon 4 years ago
That's beautifully put.
WithMyOwnHands 4 years ago
even more almost everyone is brainwashed to support these nazis, sometimes we believe we are alone because the media doesnt show us whats going on they are not on our side.

Each one took a stand, thats what it takes.

that is good to know...and its good to see people paying attention to this kid's story...it is important that this shit is discussed out in the open...it will help us to keep those freedoms that are being ripped away from us...

Unfortunately, as history has proven over and over and over; rights and laws mean nothing if those with the power to enforce them so choose. It's hard to debate legal precident while you're being tackled, shackled, and shocked. A moral police force is essential for a moral society.
DamNationDiplomat 4 years ago 2
I agree...if they aren't going to listen to reason, they are just like robots programmed to do simple tasks and follow orders blindly...with voice recognition of their owners...and all other voices "do not compute"....
freesouljah 4 years ago
Lucky for us, robots aren't anywhere near sophisticated enough to be given tazer guns...yet. According to hawking, the most sophisticated AI system ever designed doesn't have the critical thinking capacity of an earthworm, but it's a point well taken. Police training works to program them to act in a very specific manner; attack, subdue, cage. Since that's what they're trained to do, it's hard to expect them to do anything else. Rivers begin at the spring, not the ocean.
DamNationDiplomat 4 years ago
yeah...and it seems to be getting worse...because recently these police have been given almost full body armor...I was watching protest footage from the civil rights movement in the 60s, and those police had normal uniforms on, but with helmets...now they have gas masks, shields, and full body protection...they look like fucking storm troopers...and I think that must feed into their psyche...that they are invincible and "better than" the protesters...

they don't look HUMAN and I think thats the idea, they look freakin "scary", whoops I just wet myself...I'll talk to you later.

hey dude. just watched that 'get ur shit..' vid. its shocking how mindless and brainwashed the pro-war movement is. its like a bunch of crazy people were hired to disrupt the march, I say that cos I find it so hard to believe people can be that stupid.ur doin good things here man.keep it up.Thanks.
zneella 4 years ago
I think it comes down to trust...they have a deep trust of authority and of the government...and anybody who speaks out "must be wrong" because the government is "always right"...and if they think that way, they do crazy shit to uphold those ideals...

Good video man! What were the people arrested charged with?
zimbabwe7 4 years ago 3
meyer was charged with resisting an officer and disturbing the peace...
yearwood was charged with disorderly conduct and assaulting a police officer...
kokesh was arrested for defying poster ban (not sure of the charge)...
jones was charged with using a sound device without a permit...
freesouljah 4 years ago
i had read that andrew meyers was charged with resisting arrest with violence-a felony-and disturbing the peace. He was released without bond. maybe five years, for being unpolished in questioning and being rude at the microphone for going over the one minute limit.

and don't forget the tasering...he should be getting paid a huge settlement for that bullshit...

Lets march.

have you seen the new reality show on tv called 'the academy'?...its friggen insane what these police officers go through just to get a badge...its like a crazy fraternity initiation...

that opened clip was all i needed to see(though i saw the rest too)C'MON, EVEN JUST THINK WHAT IT COULD BE LIKE IF THE WORLD WAS RUN BY US 'THE PEOPLE'.it might even be peaceful.
lazymornings 4 years ago
it could be peaceful...and it still can be...we have to keep working in that positive direction...even with obstacles like this in our way...
freesouljah 4 years ago
that andrew meyers guy got what he was asking for. he became irate as he went further and further into his speach, and when they tried to pull him away because he was making a scene, he resisted.
wildcard252 4 years ago
it is the time to be "irate"!!! Nearly 4,000 U.S. solidiers and up to 1 million Iraqis have died since the U.S. invasion in March 2003. WHY?
wprivileges 4 years ago 2
for all the wrong reasons...
freesouljah 4 years ago
how often do you get an opportunity to ask those questions face to face?
of course it is making a scene when people ask tough questions that aren't watered down or trite...
I would resist, too...just because they wear a badge doesn't make them right...
freesouljah 4 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
i think you have more than just weed in your pipe
wildcard252 4 years ago
great response...I guess you have nothing else to say, so resort to something like that...I guess that shows the hollowness of your prior statement...
freesouljah 4 years ago
Actually, he walked away from the mic right after he asked the three questions he said he would ask. It wasn't till after he peacefully walked away that two officers grabbed him and caused the whole scene to escalate.
takotheoktopus 4 years ago
yeah...that was his final question...and I guess it was a bit of a doozy...
freesouljah 4 years ago
"Pulling away" can scarcely be called irate. I hope you aren't in a position of authority.

didn't you know that the conservatives say the 1st Amendment is only for those that say the correct things and live their lives in a correct manner?
Grimli 4 years ago
I did hear something about that...and it seems like they are quite serious about it...
freesouljah 4 years ago
If ANYONE should be fighting for our freedom of speech, its the Conservatives. But today it seems that they are the last to do it.
HoldinCoffee 4 years ago
oh come on, if conservatives had their way, we'd be living under idealized 18th century morality and birth control would be illegal. No conservative wants free speech, they want everyone to obey and follow their rules.
Grimli 4 years ago
Well said! The conservative party has lost their way, they sold out. But conservative values used to mean the exact opposite.
HoldinCoffee 4 years ago
yeah...meaning less government interference with the individual's life...
that has gone down the shitter for most "conservatives"...
freesouljah 4 years ago
