  • I love that you posted this song! I love gay people and a lot of my BEST AND CLOSEST FRIENDS are gay! God is the judge.... NOT YOU! God loves everyone, not just straight people he LOVES GAY PEOPLE TOO!!! I don't cry in front of my friends, but my friend just showed my mom and I this video yesterday and I flat out started crying... Why everyone can't just get along in the world is beyond me, I'm not gay, and if I was... i wouldn't kill someone because they were straight! Matthew... you are loved!

  • I believe in god and i don´t judge people. God will do that. Why is so much hatred against gay people or colored people. Why can´t we live together?

I am gay and i am not forcing other people to be gay. Gay is just part of me i am also a human.

Stop this hatred, stop judging these religion groups and stop judging gay people. Let´s try to live together. Sometimes you don´t like other people but do you have to hurt them ?

  • Absolutely wonderful, gut wrenching video. Precious boy.

  • Good sentiment. Good storytelling. Good groove. Good vocals. Good production. Good tune. :-)

  • "When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself. " Wayne Dyer

  • They tied him to a fence..because he was gay, and they grew up hearing horrible things about gay people from parents, friends, relligion. they tied him to a fence in the same way jesus was nailed to the cross. I like to beleive matthew shepherd is up there with god and jesus and i like to beleive they accept anyone no matter what. because no human being deserves that.

  • A very powerful song,heart touching.

  • A very heart touching song,i still cry when i hear it.

  • The song is very emotional. It makes me so sad that a young man had to endure such violence. I know that, unfortunately, he isn't the only one whom has been subjected to hate crimes. I wish we could all control our inner demons and not destroy others just because we do not understand. I have a daughter that I pray will rise above all the ignorance out there and impact the world in a positive way. My heart goes out to any of those that have dealt with such sadness in their lives.

  • When this album first came out in 1999 I was just a kid and I never understood why my mom skipped this track. I asked, and she said it was because it was too painful to listen to every time. Then she told me the Matthew Shepherd story and hugged me while I cried.

  • Do a search for Peter Katz "The Fence". Beautiful song in memory of Matthew

  • I have got a video up on my profile with a very powerful message about gay bashing. Please check it out!!

  • Gays have existed in the beginning of time, part of God's creation. Maybe it is a way for people to learn unconditional love, being different to you does not make it wrong. Just because you cannot understand them, do not make it ok for your to hurt/abuse them. Wonder the hardship gays have to go through being different already. Have you been abused some way before, then imagine that being double triple etc for gays, trying to hide their true selves, being afraid, ashamed etc .Learn unconditional

  • Thank you so much for posting this.

  • I never knew Mathew, I do not even live in the same country but in Scotland, but whenever I read the sad story of Mathews life, it always brings a lump to my throat and tear to my eye, to think this boy died a cruel and senseless death tied to a fence, just because he was gay. I also have a tear for his brave parents; I can not imagine the great heartache and pain they must have and still feel. But I can not understand the hatred that so many express against him just because he was gay,

  • BRILLIANT presentation but SO SAD that the need to make it even exists. Thank you.

  • I JUST WISH THE HATE CRIMES WOULD STOP STOP STOP!

  • I 1st learned of Matthew thru the dvd,"The Laramie Project".Even tho I am a 50 year old man,I still want to howl with rage sometimes at 'man's inhumanity to man'! As a gay teen in the 70s I faced homophobia & physical & verbal attacks frequently! But the murder of this beautiful young man seemed to take homophobia to a different level. And nowadays it just seems the 'norm'.I despair.Thank you so much for this stunning video, and for caring enough to want to share it with us.Bless You!

  • This song cuts right into my soul, and is on my mind non-stop.

Those who don't feel anything when listening, must question themselves as to WHY...

Mathew Shepard DID NOT deserve a death like that, he died far before his time!

  • This song touches me in so many ways. Sick corruption of the human mind has programmed that "being gay is wrong." Being a human is beautiful. Despite gender, race, sex, age. Love is love. Love is beautiful.

  • I am truly sorry and disgusted by these men's actions. I do not agree with homosexuality, but there is a fine line between disagreeing and hating. I believe it is wrong to identify homosexuals with derogatory names, make fun of them, treat them differently, etc. Murder is wrong regardless of a person's sexuality. Hatred is wrong. And, if I may be so bold, homosexuality is wrong. But, I will not hate them. I shall love. (Ephesians 5:1-2) "Walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us."

  • i have waited a long time to actually listen to this song. i will never listen to it again, not because i don't like it but because the intesity of what melissa has written is far too much for me. hatred is intollerable! thank you so very much for sharing this and thank you melissa for being able to put in a song just how much ignorance and hatred can do. the tears will never end after this song... SCARECROW

  • Absolutely awesome song, Miss. Melissa!!! From one musician and singer to another, That was just Totally Fabulous!!!!! I don't think Mr. Mathew would be any prouder Bless His heart, he went thru a lot before slipped into eternity..........

  • I am 16 and I cried when i wacthed this because i have been studing matthew and his life for 3 years I am gay and have been jumped for who i am. I was almost shot and I look at matthew as my hero because he has helped me in my soul and I am writing a play based on his life for a english interperatation class in my 10th grade year in high school

  • Wow, so many ignorant peopel in this world. Too many people in the LGBT Community getting abused. If those 2 men didn't do that, Matthew Shapeard will still be alive. Let's stop the hate-crime and if it happens, I think the people should get punished then killed. Maybe in the future this crap will stop. I love you Matthew Shepard. ~R.I.P. wherever you are~

  • I cry often, but I watched this when I was doing my project for National History Day. This made me cry, and I had to stop working. My 2 friends and I are doing our project on the LGBT Community, and we are trying to stop the hate-crime against those that follow their hearts. I love LGBT People, I could never hate, beat, murder or even rape an innocent human-being.

  • I don't think it is right for human-beings to rape, beat or murder other innocent human-beings. This made me cry and I always cry when I think about this because of those ignorant people. I hope someday someone makes a difference to stop the "hate-crime!" I think all the Lesbians, Gays, bi-sexual and transsexual should live their life without getting beat, raped or murdered.

  • I cried, I'd heard this song before but your video was something else... Thank you

  • The guy who killed Mathew is just stupid, why should he tell his girlfriend he just killed a guy ?!! he is stupid ...if it is nobody's business if the killer was using so much drugs, the same way it is not the killer's damn business if Mathew was gay

  • RIP MATTHEW I LOVE YOU

  • i love you matt. RIP

  • rip matthew

you are the reason i live so proud of myself!

  • 10 young teens have killed themselves over the past few weeks and months. They killed themselves to escape the pain, to escape the hate, to escape that which they could not change within themselves that brought the hate and violence to their world. Who is willing to stand up and save the next ones? Wear purple today to show your support and that you are willing to stand against intolerance no matter who it's target is.

Thank you for this video Michelle. I have borrowed it to share on Facebbook.

  • Spirit Day, Oct. 20, 2010. Raising awareness that the hate needs to stop! Too many young children die because of it! Too many adults die because of it! Stop the violence, stop the hate!

If this video does not bring a tear to your eye, ask yourself why....then heal.

  • Very great song! This being the 12th anniversary of Matthew's death. We will never forget you Matthew!

  • Someone reminded me that it had been twelve years to the day Matthew Shepard had died. Recalling his death caused me to remember this song. Thank you for posting this.

  • I am not a god fearing man. I have seldom been known as a forgiver. The fact that these parents asked the judge to not sentence them to death to me has to be one of the biggest acts of compassion I have ever heard. To those of you who are god fearing people and still support these rights you are wonderful. To those who claim "your god" would judge them in this fashion keep in mind your bible states you will be judged how you judge your fellow man.

  • TODAY IS MATTHEW SHEPARD DAY , we do not need permission to make it so , WE DECLARE IT SO, 8th October 2010, 12 years ago today his life was extinguished , but his light will burn so brightly it will blind you RIP dear Matthew never to be forgotten x

  • not crazy bout the song, sorry, but the message is clear.. stop hatin!! you are you and I am me and they are well you get the picture..... mind your own business, a person's attrraction to the same sex is nobody's business but their own... they don't do you any harm with their preference. where's the love?

  • I don't cry much... I just cried in a public computer lab.

  • @Kanamagus your comment touched my soul.

  • what a powerful song first time i heard it i would love to sing it at kareoke someday. And yes for all the haters out there but what goes around come around to them ten times worst. And he will be laughing down on them cuz he is a much better place then these hatful people wil ever be..

  • andrewJ123 its called scarecrow

  • SCARECROW

  • Thank you for making & posting this video. It's quite good. The images are high quality, the audio is great. The introduction and conclusion are good. There are some spots where the text could be easier to read, though. I've been to some of Etheridge's concerts. I remember one (maybe Oakland in 2000), where a lot of the people in the crowd stood up and waved their arms at the end...it's a shame more people haven't watched this...

  • I can't understand hate.

  • I remember when I first heard this song. I had to pull over the car, because I was crying in response to this song. "I can forgive, but I will not forget". How can anyone possibly forgive such a brutal act against anyone, particularly if there's no reason other than the fact that he's gay or she's lesbian? I know that if something like that happened to someone I know and love, I don't see how I could ever forgive. Beautiful song.

  • Poor Guy. Why the hell would anyone do that? It's just not right! :(

  • Be Nice Or Leave!

  • here to the memory of matthew and all other gays that have been beaten and discriminated against, STOP THE HATE~

  • "god doesn't hate anyone. jesus doesn't hate anyone. god only wants us to be happy." "the bible isn't always clear about these things. people have many different beliefs and interpretations about subjects like this" "i think that being gay isn't the way god intended. BUT." "it is far far more important whether you are a good honest man... whether you love god and all his children. if you are a good person, being gay isn't going to keep you out of heaven." [Associated Student Bodies]

  • This song is beautiful and sad at the same time. R.I.P Matthew Shepard and my condolences to his family and to everyone in the LGBT community don't worry I got your back just hold on.

  • my mom sais that im not welcome in the family anymore and she also said that im not a good mom for my kids anymore just because im gay

  • First youtube video to make me cry. When I found out he was tied to a fence with his own shoelaces and left to die my eyes teared. I researched the song and its called scarecrow because the cyclist who found Matthew thought he was a scarecrow. Thats what made me cry.

  • This is the first time I've ever heard this song, I'll admit something, I usually don't get teary eyed or cry, but this song and what happened to Matthew Shepard.......It just makes me sick how they could be that ignorant and do what they did to him. Thanks for posting this video.

  • @Kelly12386 Thank you for watching it. Anyone with a heart would cry when they hear what happened to Matthew.

  • @Michelle5451 "Hate" is jsut another word for fear, and those that are close minded and uneducatedd abotu things. whats even more interting what I notice is that really We got hroguth these stages of humantiy, not saying whated to matt was horrible it was, but thsi happends all the time so i;m glad your taking a HUGE Stand, and I am prud to say as a friend of Many LGBT's I stand with you agianest This kind of bullying, and hate! Lets Educate! to stop the Hate!

  • 667 likes 75 dislikes. for those of you that disliked, was it because of the song or video? Or because your own hating eyes disapprove of feeling pain for a GAY man who died?

  • Poor Matthew!

  • Ugh. Disgust at those who view someone else that likes a different gender as dirt. They themselves are the dirt. When I hear this song, something hits me hard. I just want to cry at first. Then I want to make a difference. This song is the definition of inspiration.

  • what is the name of the song i love it

  • @andrewjoesph123 Scarecrow by Melissa Etheridge

  • @Michelle5451 beautiful video...I am a lesbian and have been in my relationship for 12 years now. We need to remember Matthew's story hoping somewhere it reaches even ONE closed minded person is an achievement. Your words that you included with the video, very elequent! Peace n Love<3

  • @jowoods1 Thanks jowoods - I'm an ally and do what I can to reach one closed mind at a time. Peace n Love to you, too!

  • @Michelle5451~Also Amy Ray(Indigo Girls) does her solo based on this same story...you did such a wonderful job on this video,I would be interested to see what you could do with the song "Laramie":)

  • @andrewjoesph123 SCARECROW

  • I am not god I don't want to be. I am a mother of 3 and that's enough responsibility to scare the hell outa me I cant imagine being god and watching his children use his name as a reason to hate murder and destroy. with so much ugliness and terror in the world the one thing that is there to use as a shield is love. who am I to say what is the right way or wrong way to love. like i said i am not god and i dont want the job

  • @StonedAquarius ignorance all around kabbalah.com matthewshepard loveugodbless, t and j...ps...there are good people in the world too!

  • God forgive me, but it's really hard to forgive the ignorance and hate when it's so darkened your soul. I hope maybe someday our children will know what it truly means to be free. We are not free, we are only free to be what the majority agrees is acceptable. I love America, but we have a dark, dark blot concerning this issue, it's certainly not the only one, but one of the most widely socially acceptable ones. Shame on those who preach and teach hate.

  • This is a great video. Thank you for making it. It's a lovely tribute to a wonderful young man and has a fantastic message for the haters.

I constantly think of his parents... and those who loved him. I'm sure their hearts will never heal from this awful loss. <3

  • you forgot one thing: matt's parents. because the attackers were so young they showed forgivness and told the judges not to sentence them to death.

and this is one more thing the song is about: I can forgive... But I will not forget.

  • so sad ....my heart breaks...but is angry too as this hatred has not stopped...........it goes on ....

    mary

  • R.I.P MATT!!! T_T

  • OMG this broke my heart. The first time i heard this song i cried, but now i know the story behind it. How can anyone be so cruel? How can they hate someone so much for something so small? I just can't imagine how so many people hate homosexuals. I mean i see the hate, but I can't believe it. I'm not gay, but i do know abuse physical, sexual, and emotional. It literally tears my heart apart to hear of someone so innocent dying because of the sadistic people in this world. I am so sorry, matthew.

  • This video is too beautiful. Thanks for putting out this message. RIP Matthew Shepard <3

  • Good Goddess, are people so afraid of losing control of their own shitty lives that they have to control other people's harmless sex and romance? Seriously, is two womin or two men together really damaging anyone? How the hell does this affect you? No one is being hurt, and if lesbians and gay men are going to hell, then let them have PEACE ON EARTH!

    Lesbian pride!

  • i hope everyone in the world hears this song i am not gay cause i chose it i am gay because god did

  • @firewolf222 but its still your choice...

  • Jon, at what age did you decide to be straight? If being gay is a choice, that means we are all born being attracted to men and women, and at some point we choose to be straight or gay, right? When did you decide to be straight? And how do you deal with your attraction to the same sex?

  • @Michelle5451 What a great response, it's exactly what I say to people who believe sexual orientation is a choice. I just can't believe how ignorant some people are. God bless you and all others who think like you and me.

  • @Michelle5451 burrrrrrrn lol

  • @jonboy1

yes but it is the choices we make that make us who we are today.

  • @jonboy1 The AMA, APA, and AAP all agree it's not a choice. Try again.

  • Scarecrow crying . . . waiting to die, wondering why? . . . that line broke my heart . . .

  • That was epic.

  • This makes me feel fortunate enough to have lived though all of my own abuse. I went to high school in rural Oregon, and I was beaten and harassed constantly for being gay.

This is one of the saddest and darkest things I can possibly imagine... How can people hate that much? I thought getting kicked around and thrown into dumpsters was bad, this is just pure fucking evil.

  • Thank you for making this video!!! It deserves 100 stars!! My second cousin was murdered in his own home by two landscapers simply because he was gay. The message on my channel is "Stop the Hate"!! I just sent you a video response explaining my cousin's death. Peace2U, Kim

  • more kindness and less hate in this world...All we need is love

  • Every time I hear this song I CRY! I cry for Matthew, and I also cry for those with so much HATE in their hearts. For they are truly the lost souls of the world who need to be saved and perhaps even loved, because clearly they must NEVER have been loved in their lives to be filled with so much hate. :-(

  • I'm straight but watching this brought it all back and broke my heart again. How can there be such cruelty from one human being to another. (((((((((Matthew)))))))))) !

He must be an Angel now.

  • Dear homophobics,

You call us sick. You tell us that we deserve to die, you hurt us and you may even kill us, just because we love who we love. So who is it that is more sick? We, people who just want to live our life peacefully with the person we love, regardless of gender, or you, people who preach hate and anger?

We may be different but we're still human. Never forget that.

  • Thanks for this

  • Terrible. When I was in 8th grade 3 years ago.. We did a lyrics assignment. & I picked this song, and made sure I told Matthews story. My teacher was taken back by my story and I couldn't believe she made me stop talking about gay rights. I was so offended. My parents are gay and I support them 100%. The world is cruel. I hate everyone who has something to say against Gay Rights. For all of you who wrote thoughs great/sad/passionate stories below me...thank you. Stay true.

  • theres only one thing I can say about this......fuckers

  • I sobbed and sobbed. And then my mother walked in on me crying.

  • thank you for sticking up for me and plenty other gay people :) hopefully many other "gay haters" will see this video and think twice before trying anything like that

  • i loved your video :) Thanks for being an advocate for the gay community. When i hear people bashing people of the GLBT community it truely disguests me. Part of this is because i am "bisexual" (although i don't idenify with any specific orientation) it hurts when people say nasty things like that. They have their opinion and i respect that but they need to think twice about what they say, how they say it and who they say it to.

  • Amazing song, amazing message, amazing video.

  • I know and I'm in love with a Polish boy who don't have respekt for gays and he makes my angry some times I hope that he can change???

  • Thank you so much!!!!!!!My gay freind was teased and beat.and I was booed off the stage while I was reading a Pro gay rights speech.and apples were thrown at me for being bisexual.

  • I am only 15 yrs old, I am a panasexual. I have been hurt many times in life because of this nonsence. I want to walk outside knowing that my fellow LGBTQ friends are going to be here the next day and so will I. I loved this and me cry, but its so amazing and he will always be in my heart. I am not Christian, but my mom is and she is willing to recognize that I love all people no matter there gender and its usually girls that I date. But she wants me to experience love no matter who it is with.

  • Excellent job Michelle5451...

    Well Done and Thank You...

    LadiZen

  • Thanks Michelle, you're truly a wonderful person.

I find it interesting how so many 'straight males' think they can get away with murdering 'gay males'. We're not all the stereotype you see on tv, films, or public. I don't flaunt a high pitched accent, gestures, or flamboyant clothes. I'm the complete opposite and actually 'repulsed' by those kind of gay guys. So I understand being repulsed by the stereotype. Just know we're not weak mentally or physically. Know who you're dealing with. Peace.

  • I'm doing a speech about this at school. And I don't care if people are senitive to hearing about gays in school. There is nothing wrong with them. They need to be treated with kind respect all staright people do today. Nothing should hold them back from the something like marriage because of their sexual intreresets. Thanks for putting up this video. People really need to hear this type of thing.

  • @hippygravy240 I'm glad you're doing a speech! That's really brave of you. Queer people shouldn't be ignored or hated.

  • this video was beautiful and so heart felt

thank you for sharing it with us all and now he sits in heaven looking down as a angel

  • its sad that my state has passed prop 8, just for the excuse of not being able to repopulate the earth.

  • I love this song, but the story of Matthew Shepard makes me cry every time I read about it.

  • There's a great song for people who bash homosexuality. It's called "Fuck You" by Lily Allen. It's a pretty close description as to what I feel about you extreme homophobes.

  • Hey jenk - I'm glad you said "conservative" Christians. Every Christian I know, practiciing Christians even, are not at all anit-gay and in fact, they are actively pro-gay rights - go to protests, fight for gay rights, etc. and they're straight. They know that the way the extreme Christians behave is not right, is not how God would want us to treat each other.

  • Kudos to you for making this video showing that hate still exists and hopefully one day people will see us as they do themselves

  • Hi John - people are beginning to see it. I'm straight, and I see you as I see myself - as a human being no different than me, regardless of whom you love. You deserve everything in life, including acceptance.

  • Judy Shepard's book is a must read. It seems to me that she lay her family, herself and Matt out on the page. I was a teenager when this happened and didn't pay it a lot of attention until now.

  • a great song but a sad reason to sing it. i wish all people would accept and love each other, i waer my red ribbons and purple arm bands hoping it will all end for peace

  • Thanks for sharing.

    greets,

    michael

  • NICE VIDEO..

  • There are no words to I write here to express what I'm feeling.

    Just tears.

  • Thanks friend Mihaella for sharing, I have watched the movi that was about tis crime. It,s just sad that the message is still necessary.

  • 5 greatvid and thank you for the share,,,,,bry

  • This is really a very good message for all of us.

    Stop the hate!

    Peace to his soul!

Thank you Bob, for sharing it with me.

Thank you, Michelle for uploaded it.

  • Today Is Oct. 12th and the 11 Anniversary of the Brutal & Cowardly Murder of Matt Shephard just because he was Gay.

"Remember Matt And Hope That Eventually One Day This World Will Be Rid Of One of Mankind's Worst Character Traits, that of Intolerance" ....

Bless you Matt, our littlest Angel.

    Love With Hugs, Bob

  • The Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act passed through the House of Representatives yesterday! :)

  • The Matthew Shepard act only passed the House on October 8, 2009, it must now go to the Senate for a vote and pass before it becomes a law! It was first introduced April 3, 2001!

  • It's a shame that after 11 years, the Matthew Shepard Act still hasn't passed the Senate.

  • The Matthew Shepard act only passed the House on October 8, 2009. It must now go to the Senate for a vote and pass before it becomes a law! It was first introduced April 3, 2001!

  • something needs to be done. amarica {for the most part} aliminated racism it can aliminate homophobic hatred. we have to.

  • Why is it in the Mathew Shepard movie it was a female ranger that found him and not the bicyclist? Why change such a small detail? Beautiful video btw

  • Thank you.

A beautiful song and a really important message. It's just sad that the message is still relevant and necessary.

  • thank you for posting this video to get it out there you know. I have watched the movie that was made about this crime. It's horrible what some people do...

  • i was at a the age of 17 beat within an ich of my life in a small country town trying to protect my girlfriend, they beat me until I was knocked out and was in a coma for three days. I was lucky, I survived. My girlfriend stayed with me and never told me that the ones that were after her ever got to her. The bible tells us not to judge, period. may the parents that has lost a child know that they that took them shall be judged by the only one who can judge.

  • Even if the bible does talk about being gay being a sin. It also says not to judge one another. So why do "bible thumberers" judge us gays.

I Love this song and more power to Melissa for making it though cancer and taking the hate from the gay bashers.

  • What is wrong with gay people? I mean, what is so bad about someone loving someone else of the same sex? I'm straight myself, but my mom's closest friend is a lesbian, and my grandma used to be a lesbian. I just don't see the big deal about gay people.

  • This might be a stupid question, but did she write this for him?

  • It's not a stupid question. Yes, she wrote it about Matthew. The song is called Scarecrow because when Matthew was found by a passing bicyclist...from a distance, the man at first thought Matthew was a scarecrow due to the position of his body (tied standing to a fence, arms outstretched)...it wasn't until he rode closer that he realized it was a human being and called for help.

  • this disgusted me why would some ever do that to a person because they were gay? the bible does not talk about gays im catholic and god wants us to be happy at all times because he loves us so much he will accept the way we are. what if u love some one so much but the law says u cant marry the person how would u feel it would break ur heart right cuz it would to mine :(

  • Any person who 100% comfortable in their own sexuality wouldn't care about the sexual preference of another. I find homophobics really draining to be around. I'm like "GET A LIFE!" Anger and self loathing are not cool. Great video, Michelle. -Linsay

  • It was written and sung by Melissa Etheridge. The song is called Scarecrow.

  • omg!

I need to know if the culprits were caught?

    I can't believe the cruelty!

What a song too :( heartbreaking that in this day and age the hate continues to fester.

  • They were caught, convicted and are currently serving life sentences in prison.

  • They should blame the christians who have preached these hate messages against gays to them.

  • Why focus on just Christians? In muslim countries, like Iran, being homosexual is actually against the law and the penalty is death. Yes, they really do execute gay people just for...being gay.

  • Yeah... you guys need to stop focusing on just Christians, Islam also preaches against homosexuality and the penalty if you have been caught is the death penalty, like the 2 boys who were caught and hanged for being gay and having sex. I think they were only 16 or 18? Correct me if Im wrong... Beautiful video beautiful song, sad that the circumstances leading to the making of this video had to happen...

  • You make an excellent point - it's not just the Christian religion that is the problem (actually more like the extremist who take their idea of the bible too far being the problem). Every single Christian I know, true Christians, are kind hearted and do not hate gay people. In fact, my best friend is Christian, goes to church every Sunday, bible study, etc., is straight and is a very active pro-gay rights person. Yes, Muslim countries kill gay people, even teenagers.

  • My best friend's father is HIGHLY religious, and says that being gay means you're, and I quote from him, an abomination...abomination my foot! There's nothing written in the bible about homosexuals being "wrong"!

LONG LIVE EVERYONE WHO IS ACTUALLY SMART ABOUT THIS ISSUE! ^^ xD

Loved the video as well. Couldn't help but cry...it's really really sad that people can be so heartless to those who are different than themselves DX

  • It's my experience that people will pick and choose what they want from the bible. Even if the bible did specifically talk about homosexuality being a sin, I sure wish those who live by the bible would respect the fact that not everyone does. Not everyone is religious. It's just not right to force the teachings of that book on others. If a person believes in the teachings of the bible, good for them and go live by them, but leave others alone.

  • Im sorry but I really think that MOST CHRISTIANS ARE HIPPOCRATES thay preach about love everyone and acceptance and everything like that and yet thay hate Gay people? Thats awful that people actualy teach thier children to hate like that. People who hate just because.. it makes me sick

  • My heart and my prayers go out to the family, but also to anyone who thinks or acts that way against anyone.I am very sorry to know that there are Christians who act that way.

  • I just want to point out that not all Christians, and that includes Southern Baptists, hate Homosexuals. Some may attack me for this, but I'm going to say it anyway. I disagree with gay marriage. HOWEVER What happened to Matthew was a horrfying tragedy. No one who is a true Christian, or of any religion for that matter, should kill, maime, or insult someone like that. It is inhumane and against everything Jesus stood for. My cousin just did this song for her dance recital, and it made me cry.

  • Thank u .... I love u !

  • I look forward to the day where these posts are no longer needed. That will be a day that all of God's children will live together without hate and violence.Wouldn't that be a nice place to live? What do you think?

  • Absolutely nhbear. I too look forward to a day when we don't have to speak out against hatred for who and what people are.

  • It would be indeed, but as long as there are accepting people, there will always be those who are not.

  • You know there is a lot of hate that goes on in the world and. This video send's a message out that we should not hate other's just becaues that person is gay that does not mean that we should hate them or say hateful thing's.The reason I am saying this caues I am gay and it does hurt when people say hateful words.I think that we all need to stop hateing it is not fare to a lot of people.

  • Being a libertarian, I hate to see government get involved in personal choices regarding how one chooses to live. But intolerance for those choices is unacceptable, as long as it does not impinge on the rights of others. I am not gay, but can not and have never understood how being violent to gay people accomplishes anything. Intolerance is a horrible human weakness and condition, we have been plagued thoughout history. This is a sad story and song.

  • As a gay man, I have seen enough hate, even though I am only nineteen. Many times, I was called horrible names. Now, I am proud to be gay. It is me, and I don't care if someone tries to kill me. I hold little fear of death, and I love life. It is not right how Matthew died. I have often thought how much pain people bring to others. This video is a beautiful thing. More people are realizing that hate is only bringing more hate. I know that Matthew is at peace and he will not be forgotten.

  • Thank you for doing this - but I sometimes wonder whether it is possible to change or communicate at all with those who are consumed by hate - the KKK, Southern Baptists, the Taliban etc. I fear that all we can do is to ridicule them and isolate them from civilized society,

  • Maitri - I agree, I wonder if changing those consumed with hate is possible. I doubt it is, but I am certain that the more people speak out against it and do not tolerate it, those filled with hate will eventually learn to keep it to themselves, worry only about themselves and to leave others alone - live and let live.

  • I totally agree. The haters won't change but in time the majority will no longer find their hate acceptable.

  • good video something everyone needs to see! the ones that don't get this message are not with god! God loves all no matter who, even you people that hate out there!! Video was well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This just goes to show the ignorance in the world around us. In my personal opinion, I do not like the fact that people are gay, or lesbian, or anything of that sort, but in no way shape or form should someone go out of their way to try and ruin the happiness and joy of someone else just because they happen to feel for their own gender, you guys make me sick down there. Go hang yourselves.

  • People don't choose to BE gay. we are born this way. i think it is amazing that people have the courage to come out when i don't and it's because of people like you who hate me because of of we love. Stop posting hateful comments on a video that gives people hope for a better tomorrow

  • CM21 - I'm sorry we still live in a world where you cannot be open and free about who you are and whom you love. Please never forget there are also countless people like me in the world - straight folks who speak up loudly against hate toward gay people.

  • I agree this you. This world needs to just chill. Everyone should be able to be who they are! Whether their straight or not. And no one should have to be afraid of being who they are just because of cruel people that make crude comments. Gay, Lesbian, Straight, ex, its all the same. Its all about who you love, the only difference is your lovers gender. who cares. I'm straight and have like no other straight friends and i think its amazing. People that can be open like that are amazing.

  • and we thank you for that and give you our love happiness and love to you and like ps78

  • This world is a horrible place, no matter what kind of person you all. Everyone is hurtful because it is they whom they fear. Their afraid of being hurt or hated for what they are, and they don't want to look in the mirror and see their horridness People whom are open about who they are, whether its about who they love or just the type of person they are, they are true people People that don't fake it to be cool or something More people need to learn that there is no different its still love

  • people choose to be gay. the next msg you should put out should be "a message for those who choose to BE gay"

  • Using your logic, that people choose to be gay that means that every person is physically attracted to both genders (their own & the opposite). Also using your logic, if people choose to be gay, that means people choose to be straight. Why don't you tell us how you decided to be straight and how you handle your sexual attraction to the same sex while choosing to be involved with only the opposite sex? Idiot.

  • Being gay is Far from a CHOICE..jst like Michelle stated if it was choice, then it would be a choice to be straight..you dnt choose who you love!, but u can choose who to TRY to love!...Prove to me that being gay is a choice, use logic! send me website, with scientific evidence that proves its a choice...you wont beable too

  • We don't CHOOSE to be gay, as much as people don't choose their skincolor or choose to be born blind . My question to you is the following: do people choose to be gay? Your answer: "yes". Next question: did you choose to be straight? I think I allready know your answer on that one. So why do gay people choose to be gay, according to you it's a choice, and straight people not?? Can you explain me this one?

    Cheers.
