I wonder if someone were to make this car exactly like this now, with full Federal safety equipment (airbags, ABS, crumple zones, safety cage reinforcement) and toss a basic 16 valve, fuel injected engine in it - would it cost any more than $15,000. Just the looks alone would make it a instant hit as a fun to drive hatchback with a brass set.

@techromancer1 the movie was "Dawn of the dead" from 1978, but in europe the name of the movie was simply "Zombie". I always remember that movie for the Scirocco scenes hehe.Preserve that car! is very rare.

Yeah, wonderful Scirocco. Can't remember when I saw such an early Scirocco model on the road for the last time. The later models from the mid 80s are still pretty common here in Germany, but expensive in insurance due to these cars were typical 'beginners cars' in the 90s.

I'll attach an older vid of my '87 Saab 900 Turbo and well ... I already showed You the vid of my MB W123 hearse v=SsBRCfEBh_g (still unlisted, only for the interested).

easy to see you like your vee dubs. i had a 1987 vw polo when i first started driving. have to say it ticked like a clock , was a good motor , but it looked horrible , lol. my current baby is going in for scrappage . ive had it 10yrs but i only discovered some unrepairable damage to the underbody recently . im pretty beat up about it but its time to say goodbye. have no idea what car to go for next. nobody makes nice cars anymore.
