Her vocals are amazing, but does anyone else wish that more of her songs had better messages and not such simplified lyrics? I really enjoy her music but the songs like, Hollywood are a bit disappointing.

@enneyehc13 I don't understand how so many people think her songs are simple. I feel the meaning and emotion behind her songs are worth more than a thousand cryptic words. Hollywood is about "the American dream" and questioning what success means. Robot's about reminding yourself you don't have to be perfect - you CAN show vulnerability because we're all human, not robots.

Personally I prefer clear messages that speak to you rather than hidden ones with fancy language which are less accessible.

@cordeliaistheone The reason I think so many of her songs are simple is not strictly the bold and clear meaning that jumps out but it has a lot to do with the emotion and delivery of the song, half of music depends on and reflects through the lyrics and half, some would say the majority, is through the presentation and delivery of the song itself. I suppose I feel disappointed with the rest of her music because it lacks the intensity and realness that many of her other songs mirror.

I love Marina's honesty and humour to her songs - lyrically, musically - everything. I love more complex songs too but Marina works for me. I can't fathom how she isn't world famous by now so your response might help me understand!

@cordeliaistheone I have listened to a lot of her music and it isn't so much what I do not like but rather there is not enough that I do like. She has an amazing voice and her other songs are good I just don't connect to her music like some other artists, for instance Alex Winston, her songs could easily be just as simple but I prefer her voice, the ranges and the feel to her music in general. It isn't so much that Marina isn't talented or doesn't write good music, I just don't connect.

This is the first song I heard by her and I got excited with the anticipation of more songs alike this, with the same and/or alike emotion and intensity but when it got more poppy and so forth I lost interest. It is partly her lyrics that bother me, because sadly I am apart of the majority that enjoy lyrics that are puzzling and can be translated and taken so many ways and it is partly because I assumed too early.
