now to install the different version of linux I SHOULD have installed from the beginning

  • @RandomCivillian Where you using ubuntu or what?

  • @road2stamfordbridge Yeah, I had Ubuntu on it but it was the incorrect version for my laptop's chipset. My laptop needed the version built for AMD 64's and I had accidentally installed the version for Intel chipsets so I had to wipe Ubuntu and then reinstall the correct version.

  • thanks man !

  • cool again nice :D

  • Okay. This works but I was wondering if you could help with another issue.

The first time I did this, i installed linux in windows. I deleted it but now every time I boot, it asks if i want to load Vista or Ubuntu. How do I remove that prompt?

  • That is what EasyBCD does. It will remove the GRUB bootloader and reinstall the Windows one.

  • Comment removed

  • it's in the video dude

  • @gannarelli4245 I said it worked already.

I installed and removed linux twice, and each had a different kind of boot loader.

The first time I installed in windows using wubi, the second time I did by assigning the OS to it's own partition.

The second bootloader was removed with the help of this video, but the first is still there.

It only asks if i want to load either, "Microsoft Windows" or "Ubuntu".

  • Do you still have the Wubi install? Removing the Wubi install thorugh install/remove programs should remove that boot loader. Did you try running EasyBCD again?

You could always boot into your windows disc and use the repair utility.

  • does this also apply with windows7? i got rid of grub off my vista

  • @bvids78 yes, it is the same for windows 7.

  • So what I'm trying to say is I didn't set up a dual boot I comepletely overwrote xp with linux mint 7.. through a usb boot installer.. I have no xp recovery disk and I have no linux disk.. Isn't there a way to install xp with a usb like you can with linux on unetbootin? please tell me it's driving me crazy lol thanks

  • No. Your probably going to have to go out and buy a new copy of Windows.

However, if you still have your old product key(should be a sticker on your computer case), you can use someone else's disc to install and just use your own product key.

  • @masterskorpz im in the same boat....let me know if you figure something out....linux is crap....very overated!

  • My problem is this I installed linux mint 7 and overwrote windows xp fully with a usb bootup on my pc, so therefore I deleted xp completely and just have linux.. Now what I want to do is reinstall windows some how but I do not have a linux disk (because I installed it through usb) and I have no windows xp disk..

  • What if it isnt a dual boot and linux has the whole drive?

  • What do you want to do with the drive? Install windows back on it?

  • Yup and nothing is working... any help would be much appreciated before I have to tell my cousin that ive messed up her laptop right before her exams...thanks in advance...

  • You should just have to put your Windows disc back in and restart. Then re-install windows.

  • Its not having it - will not even see a windows disc in the drive. Ive gone through xp, vista and 7...

    Any more ideas?

  • Is the BIOS set to boot from CD first? With the disc in the tray, when you restart it goes straight to linux? If so it's probably the BIOS not set correctly.

  • The BIOS is set to boot from disc and just to make sure I always go and manually start from disc - it just doesnt seem to acknowledge it...

    Thanks for your hel btw

  • I couldnt get easy bcd on to linux either - it wont let me load any .exe files

  • EasyBCD is for windows, it also would really make a difference anyways. Maybe the drive is not connected properly or the disc are bad. Can you boot into a Linux Live CD?

  • Haha - im wondering if this Linux Live CD is a myth...I have tried getting back into the Linux disc but to no avail...whats Linux live?

Im not being a total flake - I will google on waiting your response. Ta

  • Pretty much every linux disc is a "Live disc". You should be able to boot into the operating system off the disc without even having to install it.

If you put the Linux disc in and it doesn't boot it then the problem must be in your BIOS setting or the Disc Drive is broken/not connected.

  • how do i use it easy bcd for windows 7?

  • Same way. It should work just the same.

  • @CoverlessTech

do u know how to remove yellow dog linux for the ps3 if u do id greatly appreciate i installed it on my ps3 yersterday i dont like it at all and i want my 10gb back so if u know plz help ill sub u and rate 5 stars on all ur videos and add u to my friends on youtube just plz help me out man!!!

  • @CoverlessTech

do u think i can put my ps3's hard drive in a pc and be able to fix it that way!

  • DUDE HELP ME!! HOW DO I DOWNLOAD EASY BCD FROM UBUNTU???!?!? It wont let me!

  • You install Easy BCD in windows, not ubuntu. You then use Easy BCD to restore the Windows bootloader, then you can safely remove ubuntu.

  • I can't go to Windows Vista for some reason.. should I make a Windows Vista CD? (because I have vista).

  • Why can't you go to windows? You didn't dual boot?

If you didn't dual boot then you are just going to have to reinstall windows.

  • @CoverlessTech How do I dual boot?

  • I have other videos that go over the process. You could also check out my site coverlesstech (d0t) com for a guide as well.

  • how do you get windows xp if after you uninstall lunux there will be no program to use ?

  • This is for Vista and 7. For XP you need to use your XP disc to boot into the recovery console and restore the boot loader from there.

  • oh ...by the way,you wouldnt know how to get rid of errors in windows xp ,and how to stop the ocmputer from restarting

cause that is what my computer does when i have a installed in windows xp

  • Is it a legal version of XP? Windows has a fail safe built in that restarts itself if it detects the version of the operating system is illegal(pirated).

  • Thanks SOOOO much dude, I have been having problems removing Linux because of the GRUB boot, but finally i found a good tutorial that shows how fully restor in to Windows, Gracias! :)

  • Very helpful video. Link for your wallpaper?

  • THANK YOU! This helped me SO much, even though im gonna keep the dual boot. just...dont ask plz...

  • I NEED HELP 4 WIN 7...my linux internet wont give me acces...soo i gotta uninstall it!

  • To reinstall the Windows 7 bootloader you may have to use the install disc and do a recovery repair.

EasyBCD may actually work with 7(7 is basically Vista with a few tweaks) but I can't guarantee that.

Either way if you put your Windows 7 disc in there should be an option to fix boot. If that doesn't work you can run the command line from the disc and do an fdisk (google it).

  • Great Video! 5/5 Thank you very much!

  • it did not help ......

  • Did you want help? Because your not really giving me any information to help you with.

If you have a dual boot of Vista and Linux this will let you uninstall.

  • what about if i have xp and opensuse in the same partition

  • thank you sir i just wanted to install a different linux

  • Thanx so much man! Great tutorial and very informative. I'll be looking at more of your videos in the future. Thanx again.

  • ok i did every thing but im not shure wat to delete like i deleted the ones that didnt have a

    C: Q: or S:

and im not shure if i should delete

    like

    Servicev003 (S:)

    Sw_prelpad (C:)

    Lenovo (Q:)

    do i nees S And C

or delete plsss reply back fast

  • Delete whatever you installed Linux on. Generally the linux partitions shouldn't have a drive letter attached to them as seen in 3:19.

C: is usually the main partition that windows installs in so I wouldn't touch it. I'm guessing you have a laptop? The Q and S partitions are more then likely the recovery partitions that Lenovo used to install Vista in the first place. There is a good chance you wouldn't be able to remove those with the vista partition manager even if you wanted to.

  • wow i didnt like linux was gay i mean at first i was happy but than it wouldint let me download stuff so i got made and didnt know how to delete but you made me happy agien it worked yea

  • how do i know what to delete

  • well i decided to dumb my old vista and reinstall it. bad choice.... no programs or drivers.... and for some reason vista is GHETTO now. huge icons terrible resolution. also.... it is slow and i have no idea why. but wtf can i expect from vista. haha i think im reinstalling ubuntu. f*** windows

  • fuck

  • well... this did NOT work for me. when it restarted, it didnt run grub or the vista mbr. it said disk error. but its ok cause i reinstalled ubuntu which reinstalled grub so my computer still works. im trying to switch mdrs so i can take linux off but nothings working. im running vista 64 bit and i partitioned off 15 gbs for ubuntu. help please

  • Maybe EasyBCD isn't 64bit compatible? I personally never run 64bit operating systems for various reasons. Boot into your Vista disc in and there should be an option to repair start up.

  • Wow! Thanks man!

I've always wondered how to do this and now I know

But does it matter if I I my have one partition of Linux?

  • What do you mean by one partition of linux? When I opened the partition manager there where two and you only had one? Just restore the windows bootloader and delete that partition, same thing.

  • thanks you are really smart man!

  • thank's man, this was very helpful, you are very smart.

  • Thanks man, very helpfull video

  • Thanks a lot man.

  • dude your video's about linux RULE!

  • thanx a lot!!! really helps!
