Carmie: No. I am saying that Oscar and Big Bird are performed by a Muppeteer (a puppeteer that works in performing Muppet character). It is that Muppeteer--Carrol Spinney--that is a real person. However, even when out in the open performing his characters, the magic created by the characters isn't broken.
