Personally I think certain aspects of TU update are slightly dumb. What I mean is that having gotten used to how the weapons feel and when the right time it is to melee, they go and change it adrubtly. Now I know it's going back to Halo 3 but from playing the Reach 'rules' for 6 months, it's slightly hard to get re-adujsted to how the game plays. That's just me though. Reach wasn't bad at all as a matter of fact when I play reach I find suppiriorities to it than Halo 3 like armor abilities. Armor abilities just took what powerups did to the next level like armor lock was probably born from the idea of the bubble shield and regenerator that it gave you protection and time to recharge your shield if you had enough time. sprint is probably the best and most useful allowing for faster movement across the map. Ultimately there must be a comprimise.
@MrAngryman69 AA's are a crutch. They slow down gameplay, (AL, and Sprint) break map control, ( Jetpack, evade ) and take no skill to use. Halo should be about your gun, nades, map knowledge, and team work. If you do not have a brain, you shouldn't be able to kill good players with bullshit gimmicks and crutches for bad players.

Unfortunately the update which has fixed reach has not been integrated properly into matchmaking at all. There are only two playlists which feature zero bloom and all the proper fixes like the fix for flag running. The update should have been integrated to the whole of reach and not just as a modified playlist. why complain about a game that can be customized through the roof. i cant defend bloom which is the worst thing to happen to halo. but i swear this game is far more competitive than any other console shooter. This upload is proof that fans are still here for halo, if anything halo is blooming because of the books they have released and all the updates and content on the waypoint. Maybe reach wasn't all it could of been but i think reach was just the proving grounds for a new engine that can be refined and made better for the next instalment of the halo series.
I didnt really start till after Reach so i don't see it as bad but it does have issues, Armor abilities should be removed or made map pick ups like equipment, and bloom should be removed. But there are things it did right that should stay. The graphics, the old magnum, assassinations, the original health system, more Spartan customization. I would like a gamer that has headshot weapons like the DMR AND the more body shot friendly BR and higher jump height like Halo 3
@Ha1frican This may be a very stupid thought, but i figured halo reach would need a new engine since spartan 3's are not like the spartan 2 that you play in the halo trilogy. Spartan 3's are cheaper mock ups that will eventually be sent to an early grave. In some ways the spartan 3's are like halo reach. Something that felt cheaper, not as well planned, and maybe just a test of something new. The reach engine can be looked at, refined and be a prime engine for a new trilogy.
if halo keeps going the way it is going there will be no halo 5 and 6, by that i mean like reach.

@ontogc they tried to reach out to a wider base of people with Halo Reach and failed. Bungie tried to make a game like CoD and thats why it fails. If anything Halo needs to go back to its roots so everyone knows how a REAL Halo game plays and feels.....
@acplight Reach is actually REALLY fun in the anniversary playlist. Without armor abilities, reduced bloom (even though it should really be zero), and the OG magnum it actually makes the game really fun again.
@acplight yeah i guess. if they removed armor abilities, added in the OG pistol, and eliminated bloom it would be fine though. Also its not like the others didnt have their problems. Halo one was pretty awesome, but 2 added the idiot dual wield which made every secondary but dual needlers useless, and 3 did the same. Reach brought back med packs, and added assassinations which was pretty sweet. Also the more in depth custom spartan was a nice touch.
@acplight what i want is a game wit Halo CE's health system. 3's movement and lack of bloom. Reach's graphics, assassinations, spartan system, theater/forge. Halo 1 and anniversary's pistol. No dual wielding, the BR back, and new Forerunner vehicles/ weapons. That's what i think Halo 4 should be

Halo 4 will be good, but not everybody appreciates Halo's complexity. People these days tend to lean towards games that are easier to master like the Modern Warfare, Battlefield or any other similar shooter. Not that those games are bad, but that's just the in thing these days.

halo multiplayer is too simple and only interests a certain type of player, halo was awsome when the fps genre was just getting off the ground, it is not new or fresh anymore, its old and replayed and replayed with small additive mechanics that have not changed the core gameplay much at all and if anything probably hurt the gameplay of halo. THERE NEEDS to be fundamental, major, core, changes in the halo gameplay. make halo gameplay more modern. im a huge halofan and very concerned with it
@ontogc You do realize that the same thing can be said about CoD? Bungie tried to change the core gameplay by introducing armour abilities and bloom, but in the end, it ended up being criticize (heck, even the latest MLG gametype removed Sprint and bloom).
I know that a lot of people do not like the weapon bloom...but other games have it as well...your reticule gets bigger as you shoot in CoD, and a billion other shooters...its the same concept, the longer the fire is sustained the less accurate you will be. But I guess this is Halo, not some other military shooter. I am okay with a Halo with no bloom, but am I the only one who thought it was neat?
@d0ct0rsweet your a super soldier known as a Spartan III, I'm pretty sure they can handle recoil (the "bloom effect") from a DMR, sniper, Magnum, etc. Compared to normal soldiers on CoD or Battlefield, Spartans would destroy all of them really easily.
With the game fixed, its the Halo community that needs to improve. Halo will only improve fully if the Pros and the AM can finally get along better. And that's where THC and other Halo Podcasts have my support.
Halo did die. But 343 brought it back. With the ZBNS Gametypes, I really see halo being brought back like it was back in H3 and H2. I can have fun playing Halo again! And I play much better as well! I have high hopes for the MLG Halo community and myself competing in the MLG Season, starting with vanilla Reach when I played in NGL.

@MahPopemobile not trying to start a fight but you cant really have skill based fps on a console because the accuracy is horrible compared to a keyboard and mouse every console shooter has to have a touch of auto aim because controllers are not sensitive enough (sure you can make it skill based in other ways)

Halo just need better marketing. I promise.... Halo 3 and 2 had better marketing than Halo: Reach. Reach may have sold more to Halo fans, but it did not get the attention of anyone new to the series. You can't just keep selling it to the fans. New people have to come in too.

@CarnageJesterX They were just addressing the harsh reality Halo is facing. Halo is not a terrible game. In fact, it's a good game. They're just saying that after Halo 3, the bar has been raised significantly and Halo Reach (may have sold more) was not able to gain the frequent positive response from the community. I'm not saying that they should make it like "Halo 3" there were just some things didn't work and some things could've been improved further.

Unfortunately the update which has fixed reach has not been integrated properly into matchmaking at all. There are only two playlists which feature zero bloom and all the proper fixes like the fix for flag running. The update should have been integrated to the whole of reach and not just as a modified playlist. I didnt really start till after Reach so i don't see it as bad but it does have issues, Armor abilities should be removed or made map pick ups like equipment, and bloom should be removed. But there are things it did right that should stay. The graphics, the old magnum, assassinations, the original health system, more Spartan customization. I would like a gamer that has headshot weapons like the DMR AND the more body shot friendly BR and higher jump height like Halo 3

@Ha1frican This may be a very stupid thought, but i figured halo reach would need a new engine since spartan 3's are not like the spartan 2 that you play in the halo trilogy. Spartan 3's are cheaper mock ups that will eventually be sent to an early grave. In some ways the spartan 3's are like halo reach. Something that felt cheaper, not as well planned, and maybe just a test of something new. The reach engine can be looked at, refined and be a prime engine for a new trilogy.

@acplight yeah i guess. if they removed armor abilities, added in the OG pistol, and eliminated bloom it would be fine though. Also its not like the others didnt have their problems. Halo one was pretty awesome, but 2 added the idiot dual wield which made every secondary but dual needlers useless, and 3 did the same. Reach brought back med packs, and added assassinations which was pretty sweet. Also the more in depth custom spartan was a nice touch.

halo multiplayer is too simple and only interests a certain type of player, halo was awsome when the fps genre was just getting off the ground, it is not new or fresh anymore, its old and replayed and replayed with small additive mechanics that have not changed the core gameplay much at all and if anything probably hurt the gameplay of halo. I know that a lot of people do not like the weapon bloom...but other games have it as well...your reticule gets bigger as you shoot in CoD, and a billion other shooters...its the same concept, the longer the fire is sustained the less accurate you will be. But I guess this is Halo, not some other military shooter. I am okay with a Halo with no bloom, but am I the only one who thought it was neat?

I have high hopes for the MLG Halo community and myself competing in the MLG Season, starting with vanilla Reach when I played in NGL.

Maybe Halo Reach isn't like the other Halos, but it's still more skill intensive than other shooters. What would they possibly replace it with? Battlefield? COD? yeahhhh...I don't think so.

Why would people have complained about Halo 3? I don't know what you could possibly not like about Halo 3. I played Halo 2 and CE and I loved Halo 3.
Any out there that didn't like Halo 3 want to let me in on what was so different?
