  • geil is ja lustig

  • I feel he's rushing.. maybe its me.

  • I have no doubt why MIT is one of the world's best schools. They really offer quality education..

  • very useful information!

  • Are there 35 intro to solid state vids?

  • "for you... no charge!" lol

  • Starts at 8:00

  • John Dolton 1803 1. Atoms cant be created or destroyed 2. Assending order of Atomic masses based two column table Platinum - Americal metal - Cavendish - Hidrogen charecteris Lutheremayer, mendeleef properties of elements vary periodically with atomic mass and it is tablated in periodic table. Element beyond Uranium is synthetic, can be manufactured only Duna Russia,

  • If you don't already know this, this means nothing. If you already know this, the prof. is just enjoying the sound of his own voice.

  • this guy always wears a suit...man MIT is the shit!!!!!

  • this is more entertaining then watching a good movie , MIT , MIT MIT MIT MIT MIT MIT MIT MIT MIT MIT MIT MIT ALL THE WAY ....

  • what do you think? can i use this lecture serie for a good introduction into solid state chemistry? or are there also other things needed?

  • Teaching something like chemistry takes passion to do good, this guy is GOOD. Attention retained the whole way through. My college sucks.

  • good notes

  • nice suit gman

  • lol unununium, element 111 is now called mendelevium... so i guess he wouldn't be too saddened :p

  • Yep. That's why I major in English.

  • @Nyarl3 good luck with a job

  • Man I wish all my lecturers were this good.. I had this old bag teaching solid state physics and she made the course so uninteresting and dry for all of us that none of us picked up anything from her lectures.. All self studying.. It turns out that the solid state field is one of the coolest fields in materials science and I found that out only in the workplace 5 years later.. So there you go, the value of a good professor..

  • @sidiqmk Good comment.

  • AAWWEEEESOOMMMMEEEEEE

  • class starts at or around 8:00

  • Hahaha! "No charge" [for neutron]. This professor is great. I am viewing electricity & magnetism also, from Professor Lewin. I am also taking that class in college. Both the physics class and this chemistry class complement each other. We study the quantization of charge in both the classes. Also about electrons and protons and neutrons.

  • this guy definitely has a secret job with some super secret organizations lol

  • very good teacher... really...professional

  • Electromagnetic chalkboards... Genius.

  • Wow I feel like a nerd I'm a freshman in highschool and I've watched like 20 lectures so entrigueing

  • CHECK OUT KHAN ACADEMY TOO. Stanford Open Courseware, etc etc etc. You're on a good path

  • aristotles 'elements' aren't complete nonsense. they are phase states of matter...

  • Water is referring specifically to H2O not liquids... Wind is moving bodies of air, fire is the visible reaction of combustion, and earth is a combination of many things...

Air exists as gas but it doesn't represent a phase state, nor does water exactly define liquids...

The elements EXIST in the phase states but are NOT the phase states.

  • MIT has made teaching soo much easier. MIT teachers are really amazing!

    Thank you!

  • I got a little sad when he ruined the pristine board by smudging out the 6 at 33:29

  • pretty good!!!

  • good teacher, his blackboard work and writing is second to none, quick and neat.

  • One of the neatestly covered courses in the MIT OCW series. Makes a very good impression.

  • American metal. lol

  • Starts @ 8:07

    =P

  • That was a great lecture! Its great that these videos are available to the general public. If determined enough, one can educate themselves on pretty much anything using the internet XD

  • You are correct and i as a young student enrolled at Gettysburg High and being 11 1/2 yrs. old have been educating myself through videos like this and i hope that this type of material continues as this is of course not taught at my level!!! Your Friend, Robby

  • AMAZING - i'M HIGH OFF OF THIS

  • all is easy if you take the time ti start at the beginning and than work your way forword

  • im really diggin watching these lectures.

i feel like im getting smarter already

  • This man is an amazing teacher

  • He refers to American as a Continent, not a specific country.

  • "Fantastic metal, an american metal." 9:39

And I thought Canadian hates American.

(he mentioned that he was a Canadian in Lec 1)

  • Well then you thought wrong

  • Thank you!

  • Ben, thanks for that insightful and inspiring piece of advice. I am already a college graduate and was clearly joking as in the movie Good Will Hunting where the main character, Will, jokes that he can get a college education from the library.

  • You can also get one on youtube, as it turns out. Stanford's channel has a great lecture by Susskind on quantum entanglements.

  • man, I was gonna enroll at MIT but hell so many classes are online. I'll just stay home, order some pizza, and get a college education.

  • A college education is more than just lectures, it is being a part of the greater community. A college education is about being inspired by others (and maybe, inspiring others). While these lectures are great, they are not what MIT is all about.

    Ben

  • You're not getting a college education; you're getting a real education. Find others like yourself. If we network, we can form learning communities where we learn by asking our own questions, not be watching someone stand at the front of a room and show off.

  • that's a great idea

  • omgsh. he's funny. great teacher at MIT

  • Lol the joke on the library is SO funny. you just don't get this at school.

  • what joke on what library? i wanna know :)

  • Indeed , i wish that i had such a funny chem Proff :P

  • MIT is a elite school i wish i could go =)

  • he's sooo talkative.

  • He's a lecturer....

  • All atoms of an element are NOT identical but pretty similar.

    Sextadimensional Universe.Deductive Physiscs

  • Well, that cleared up a few things from high school chemistry...for instance my teacher didn't want to explain how avagadro's number came to be.

  • I know same here (I'm in grade 11)!. SO annoying!

  • lucky bastards i wuold give an eye to be there

  • Carbon-12 = dominant ion Wo0t!

  • Sadoway Sadoway Sadoway Sadoway

  • MIT? and they still use chalk?...find that funny for some reason...u would think those techno-geeks would have plasma screens and a pen...

  • but chalk bords are fun.

why not ues them, "plasma screens and a pen"

are all right (ther gtaet) but what about chalk.

  • O_O smart

  • 3.091, 3.091.

  • these lectures are great not only for learning Chemistry, but Canadian English, as well. Prof. Donald Sadoway is one of the best teachers you'll came across.

  • @adorianvlad Ugh, why are all these awesome teachers in the wrong fields? The math lecture videos don't seem to have very enthusiastic teachers...

This video alone practically makes me want to study chemistry lol!
