So im going though and watching all the vids again. I let them play and read the comments. Well listen from :50 - 1:05 without looking at the movie. Lol, you have a sick mind jamie...
Jaimie- ok so I'm now at #14 here. I'm going to ask a question I never ask, but How do you make money to live on? Oh an then how much do you think you have spent at this stage? Thanks-
Well, I mostly just don't deal with money much. I do work occassionally. I do renovations, and sometimes get to design and build interesting things for moneys.
I'm going to NC on Friday to do some work, actually. I've probably spent around 3000$ or so. Some of that was on tools that I'll use on other projects, and I've gotten some donations to help out. Most of the materials have come from a junk yard and from taking things apart. :-)
You make it sound like CAD or FEA makes things worse . . . I beg to differ . . . it actually speeds me up greatly, dramatically reducing the guesswork and last minute changes. And I know it will work *before* making a single purchase or lifting a screwdriver =P
And I was implying that its hard to make robots without spending money . . . although I've made quite a fortune from my robot makin skills =)
Naw, I think there are plenty of good uses for CAD design. I've used it for things before. I'm working with whatever materials I can get cheap or free, so... details keep changing. Its easier to change them in my head. ...besides... I can't exactly make CAD objects by hanf and expect them to come out the same.
Oh, I believe you. No need to prove yourself. I'll check out your site anyway, though. :-)
Still following your project :) Your doin great stuff man. Still wearing sandals to work too, I see haha. You have some pretty amazing ideas. You really are an inspiration :) Speaking of the workshop, I was thinking about it yesterday and I got to thinking: How the hell did you erect those massive pylons that are going to be the outer supports? Thats quite a feat! Keep it up man. When you get back to vermont, maybe I can be a work horse for you hahaha. Keep it up!
Oh.. man, was that ever an ordeal. Ya, erecting the tower. The logs are around 70ft long, and I don't know how much they weigh, I was maxing out a 2 ton chain hoist. ...and had a couple 1 ton hoists pulling, 2 come-alongs... I was very very aware of my surroundings that day..... with all that weight suspended. ...then it fell ... twice. Both times due to loss of attention. :-P I got it on the 3rd try, though. I had 3 of the pylons connected on the ground.
hey, been meaning to ask about what kind of motors are gonna go on this thing. im gonna guess some high torquey high output DC motors. or probabally a gasoline driven pump for hydraulic motors or something.
hmm... I think I'll just have to make a video about this. I've been getting this question a lot. Hmm. Ya, ok. Tomorrow I'll show the motor, and all that. ...and explain whats shakin. :-) Oh, and if it isn't up tomorrow night, feel free to yell at me.
Ugh! You should make a "sponsored by"-area on ur website. I think it would be easier to donate if the donater would get some pixels on Ur web site, or something like that. If U know the million dollar homepage, U know what I mean.
Good idea to replace all the little ball's with the other ones. Man, U dont quit easy, dont U? Greetings from Finland!
If another person mentions this "quit" crap, I'm seriously gonna start smacking people.
Ok, now that thats out of the way. I'm not doin a pixels on my homepage money making scam. I'm building a giant robot. If you'd like to help, cool, if not, I'm not going to try some retarded marketting manipulation stuff to convince the masses that to donate is to conform... and they should conform.
OK... even though I had an adverse reaction to your pixels suggestion.... I've been thinking about it, and I might do something like put people's name or something on the robot.
...and don't worry. I haven't smacked anyone. I talk big, but I'm a big softy. haa haa
sorry for mentioning the 'Q' word. been following your project for a while now and wonder if we'll ever get to see the workshop on the mountain. It was worth it just to see your custom saw mill. but It looked like it would be a huge project for the workshop alone and maybe you could put a pivture of it on your website.
I'm going back to Vermont in 2 weeks! (where the workshop is). ...so I'll be working on it when I get back up there. Robot work will probably slow down a little at first, but if I can get my workshop set up, that should help a lot.
I've been trying to work while not imposing on family and stuff for a while. It'll be good to really sprawl out!
0.53 to 1.23 watch to these two points, sounds funny in a sexual way.

you should try a hydrailic system insted of sliding .
SSGTWinters 2 years ago
ya... it'll still have to slide! :-P ..and hydraulics bring a whole pile of othe systems into the mix. Maybe in a future one.

three things:
haste = waste
Start using CAD!!! Makes visualizing stuff easier =P
money = robots

uhh... riiiight.
You've got an illogical catch phrase...
useless advice...
and an equation that makes little sense...
OK OK, I can do that. uhh....
All the way with LBJ.
If you're really good at math, why don't you get your computer to do it for you in 4000% the time.
hamsters = green
YAY! I think I passed the test. Feuf It was difficult

I would have gotten it on video if I thought it could have done it justice. ....and I was kinda trying to focus on the possible death involved.

rite on man! i'll be sure to do that if you don't put the video up there. haha
