Good technique and obviously very talented for your age, but the piece is meant to be very dramatic and you're just a bit short on emotion -- it'll come with time.
holy crap. slow the hell down dude. absolutely NO emotion or passion in this piece. you take out the emotion in this powerful piece and you may as well slap rachmaninoff in the face.
Justin is obviously very talented, it isn't an easy piece to play at all. IMHO, he is not fully grown, biologically but more mentally, to play such piece in a way it should be played.
@itsanthonyhere - the overlaps in this piece are not huge. I believe Justin is in fact doing them, just not visually overemphasizing them. Obviously neither he nor I find a need - do you?
@totophi Oh, no. I looked at the music..again. Here's what I was doing wrong, apparently, although I am still confused on what I see on paper and what I see in person.
The highest note on bass cleff is actually played by the right hand's thumb, while the lowest note on g cleff is played by the left hand thumb??
i know im late by 3 years but i was going around looking for a nice video of this song and this is one of them. I like the nice voicing in the 3 opening notes but after that i think it the section after that should be played a little slower and a couple mistakes were made but other than that it was great.
somebody help me! on the 3rd measure for left hand, after the low A's there's the chords that have a natural and sharp signs next to them. what do i do?!
not bad.but you might wanna wait till you hands grow a bit more. at the agitato there were missed notes and that ending is very demanding and it need the right amount of strength to get it really well.
It's hard to see a good performance of this piece. A performance wich undestands the history around this piece, with correct ritm and silences. He made a mistake on the hardest part of it, but he undestood the piece, it was great.
You do a very nice job on this piece...for being 12. But I think you need to wait a few years. Honestly, there was very little to no feeling at all in this piece. But other than that nice job.
Very powerful and well done indeed. Thanks for the "heads up" Justin and Winnie. It was well worth the time. I hope you continue to make beautiful music.
I learned this when I was 12 too. And this is an aboslutely astounding performance. It reminds me alot of the recording Rach made of this piece. The only thing I can say is maybe just to slow down the begin just a tad bit.
too much pedals

errr..the beginning and the ending are both too fast, the middle is fine... and i think you need a little bit more dynamics.

If you play this exactly the way it's written, don't the hands overlap each other? Because his hands aren't overlapping..but when I play..they do...?

I don't think his hands are big enough to technically play the pice correctly, but your missing the entire point of playing it in the first place.

Pedal is a bit muddy, I think, and high notes on the piano sound a bit shrill - however, nobody can argue that this kid has talent.
