  • Windows 8 is much better than this.

  • Did this come out before or after vista?

  • good old windows

  • i rememeber that my first computer has windows 3.11 and i was 4 years old, i love 90's

  • The ultimate operating system. From Microsoft.

  • What memories.

What goes hand in hand with win95 and that era is a 14" screen. It's like steak with a glass of redwine. Those things are meant to be enjoyed together.

And with an adventure game on the comp, turning of the light and dreaming away...that time was truely magical and amazing.

Thanks for bringing back those memories.

  • Autoexec.bat!!! ¡-¡

  • ¡-¡ I'm crying

  • Whenever I boot my VM running this, it boots as Windows 3.1

  • The internet is now one community consisting of pretty much the entire globe... it will soon be a world government.. where EVERYTHING is run through the internet, life as we know it will not be reality, but virtual reality. Anything you want or need at any time will be available to you.. we will have figured out a way to combine virtual space with real space, or augmented reality. It will be the FUTURE of 'The Internet'.

  • oh my god. how do i pray for those times to come back ;(

  • I grew up without computers. Gas was 28 cents a gallon and it was pumped by the attendant who took cash only. My dad used to ask for 2 or 5 dollars worth.

if you needed money on the weekend and banks were closed, u could cash a check at a supermarket because there are no ATM invented yet.

Homes were 13 to 15 k. My mom build a brand new home for 13k. this includes land.

    cars were 2 grand

so I remember, with a tear in my eye, the days of no computers, YET

  • @ReferLz

    Same to me ....

I was so obsessed that the only word i knew was 'win' .... :D

  • @sbdba how do you know that it had no bugs , i tied runing it, it crashed every time it booted it up.

  • I remember deleting autoexec.bat and config.sys so my uncle would upgrade to windows 98

  • key ???

  • @MrPitereczek

    not in the stone ages

  • SKI FREE.. CHIPS CHALLENGE!!!! NOW THOSE WERE THE DAYS!!

  • Color blue title bars. All versions of windows has this color as default; 9x, xp, vista, 7, and even the upcoming 8!

  • What is the name of the track?

  • mmm with this i may run gta IV XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • I performed 'Drivespace' on it about 20 times, and my dad went crazy when I couldn't recover the computer and lost all his work.

  • I installed it on the hard drive!! It works very fast.

  • Nice video but you omitted the network setup using TCP32B.EXE... This will allow real Internet access on the browser...

  • when I saw this it reminds me of Ms-Dos application and old-school disket

  • I remember this song from Windows 95 startup. Memories.

  • Retrotech is really fun when you put your heart in it. I got a 19" crt monitor for a buck on ebay and had a 686 i403tx given to me and I found all the drivers on the internet for the display, soundcard and got an old ethernet card from work plus some SDRAM which it had slots for. I can send email, browse with DOSLYNX, gopher. newsgroups, etc. Also put a 2 GB drive in it to hold all the old software long since mothballed in the garage.

  • @MisterEvasion Tha's cool. I installed this Windows directly on the hard drive, 40G hdd, 2.00Ghz, 1GB ram, and it worked very well, it even detected my usb mouse! I need some games, do you have some games?

  • That shit sucks Windows 7 is where its at!

  • hehehe lol

  • Thanks for this!

  • OMG. trip down memory lane.

    Thx

  • stupendo video

    que tiempos Dios!!!!!

  • Of course Windows 3.x had a mouse nimrod!

  • the first official 1.0 had it so its STUPID to ask wat u just did lol

  • how possibly could GUI not have a mouse?

  • good old days, still remember my 486 DX 33Mhz running win 3.11, god that OS was horrible I had to reinstall windows and edit autoexec.bat so many times it's crazy

  • i get a "error loading vga.drv" after win 3.11 startup on a laptop with ati graphics :(

  • Yeah memory management was an issue.

I'm a gamer now and was a gamer then playing Doom and Blake Stone.

Somewhere along the lines the games stopped working... something with XMS memory not being allocated properly.

  • wat is a virtual machine anyway

  • the only thing that've changed since this OS to the new windows is that they require more machine to run (and bring compatibility to new soft and hard) but the OS is basically the same...

  • i am amazed ith dos and win 3.11, idk why, i'm 16 y old, but its, sth like more interesting to work in these OSes. Feeling is like "WOW, holy **** you cant compare this and XP, but people were amazed with those like with win7 now"

  • Windows for workgroups was amazing because of the built in networking features, but Windows 3.11 was one of the most stable versions of Windows ever. But years before plug and play, no task was more frustrating than trying to setup an ISA Sound Blaster Card with CD controller.. interrupts always conflicting with modem, etc. What a nightmare.

  • wow there is almost a tear running down my face, and i got chills looking at this. I'm 28 yrs old but I remember my first pc was a 386, then i go a 486 with windows 3.11. That was probably 15 yrs ago. My goodness, I dont know why but this is really breaking tears to my eyes. I think its because it shows me how many years have passed, how i've aged practically overnight. OK i'm reading too much into it, but i'm serious. I remember my first 100mb hard drive, i was soooo excited, it cost like $300

  • i truly understand you :)

  • well, my story is same like you, i was studied in a 386 machine, and i was learned MS-DOS and win 3.11 i had 16 y.o. around... and.. yeah, a tear run down in my face also. my first computer was a 486dx 100MHZ the fastest in this time (an airplane he he), i was very excited learning the MS-DOS commands and the metacommands in windows, i remember the wonder when appear pentium and win95 (we will know that be a big thrash he he, bout not in this time) the wonder years hehe.

  • @sanjose21ca hey man there are groups of people who still build and use old dos machines to this day. check out vogons.zetafleet one of the many sites.

  • @sanjose21ca I am 29 I feel you man. I remember learning about DOS. having to load about 10 disk to get it installed. My pc came with microsoft sound bits from movies. Mine had a 1 Gig of memory. I remember my couzan saying you will never fill that thing up..

  • @reesemitchell I remember my Amstrad PC 1512 - one 5 1/4 inch floppy drive and no hard drive. Then I bought a hard drive card which you slotted inside the machine - it was 32 Mb and at the time I thought it was a huge amount of disk space.

  • @sanjose21ca lol now they have flashdrives the size of some old hardisks from the mid 90s

  • @sanjose21ca My first harddrive purchase: A 20gig back in like 2002 for about $80.

  • @sanjose21ca Could it be that you've "aged practically overnight" because of all the PC use? :D Seriously though, I can understand what you say, every generation has to deal with technological change, the world moves under one's feet, so to speak. That's not a new thing. You gotta roll with it. :)

  • Wow, the full install only takes 5.1 MB! Of course, back then most hard drives were only like 250MB

  • lol and now i have a 75 gig hard drive 5 OS's later (vista) and im gonna dual boot it with a gig of ram and HD space

  • Joyful memories abound when I got my first 486 with Windows 3.11FWG preloaded. If anything, I miss the simplicity of it all. DOS/Windows just worked back then and bugs were simple enough to fix yourself.

  • Wow! A preview of the age of the dinosaurs XD

We'd been using Apple IIgs till IBM compatibles with windows 95 comes out.

  • can you give me windows 3.11 or 3.1 in zip folder?

  • Wow i remember this as if it was yesterday! It took me the whole christmas to trying to connect my new 56K modem with 3.11

  • it took me and 3 other people like 3 days trying to connect a modem to win xp lol

  • cool i did that....laptop can take floppies only, any clue how i can get the torrent onto floppies or any other way to get the torrent into this laptop?

  • My first computer had 3.11 and the feeling of connecting to the internet for the first time was quite the thriller. I am in need of the 3.11 install diskettes to resurrect music sequences I composed, if anyone has them please let me know!

  • go to google and type in windows 3.11 install disks torrent and you can get those around 5 mins including ms-dos 6.2. Thats if you know what torrent is. I recommend utorrent also google for that.

  • I have them and 3.1 all on disk and work!

  • windows 2000 is better

  • oh my.. haven't seen this in a while! I remember how excited I was when I used Windows 3.11 for the 1st time. thanks for the vid! nice job

  • Those were the days

And I love the xp welcome screen music :)

  • windows 3.11 is the best windows ever!

  • so fucking funny it has to skip a file.

  • THIS SONG IS SWEET

  • its NOT 98 MUSIC! Its title file from Windows XP - welcome music called title, search for *Tilte* called file in XP

  • well jesus calm down, he didnt know..

  • theres no freaking need to down this kid 6 times...

  • Best Windows i only use windows 3.11 at time

  • From what I've seen the older windows were better than the Macintosh and Lisa.

  • hey

    nice vid

    what's the song?

  • the setup song after Windows XP is done installing you can hear it if your Sound card drivers install correctly on first try

  • I actually managed to get on the internet with a Windows 3.11 for Workgroups machine, but I had to install an old NIC, the TCP/IP Stack and an old Opera browser... Took some time, but it works! But with only 8MBs of RAM, surfing is dreadfully slow and I can't install flash on it...

  • Quick Tips:

    - Find win3.10 and 3.11 on any torrent browser.

    - When you install win from a CDROM or Hard drive, it wouldn't let you put the company's name, that doesn't happen when you install it from the 5.25, 1.2MB floppies.

    - Pretty slow installation, try to install it in real DOS and it will fly.

  • the iso file can yu tell me

  • could someone send me Windows 3.11 i have windows 3.1 on a old system but want 3.11 on it!

  • i got it if u need it just message me set something up

  • Infact, I just got a Packard Bell from someone (FREE PC IS FRREEEE!!!), and I'm planing to install Win3.1 on it.

God, where the fuck can I download those files for it...? *looks depressed*

  • My first windows...I wonder to have this windows again in my PC, if there were games or any software compatible with this OS yet...

  • WTF the net is on that shit lol

  • This is the song I heard when I bought my first Windows XP computer!! How did you get it?

  • C:/WINDOWS/system32/oobe/images/title.wma.

  • You don't have to register.

The internet was very limited back then. (Prodigy anyone?)

The Registration was really just something you COULD print and send in, if you so desired.

  • I remember this lol. Nostalgia

  • Uhu... bad memmories. But at least it was better than MS Windows 2.10(?) (awfull collour scheme, when i run) and MS Windows 3.10 (No network, without LOTS of trouble)

And I never remember it running so fast and smooth :)

  • windows 3.11!

    After Dark !

Man, i was so young when i last operated this, drawing stuff in paint.exe, printing it out, pissing off my father, playing minesweeper. Excellent stuff !

  • Ah, good old memories. I had that on my first 386 PC.

  • Sure brings back memories from my childhood. ^_^

  • That's the one! :D

  • just as wierd as always m8t :P
