Apple did not copy them. Im sure they pulled it because they were working on the iPhone 4s and iOS5 at the time, which it is included in. Thats why they did not want it to be released early on an app.

Jailbreaking is completely worth it because you can get any app you want, heres what i do, i go to the appstore, find an app i want, then i go to the app that lets you get them for free and try to find it on there.

Listening to this video, it appears to me that the issue is that Apple doesn't allow any of their 3rd party programmers to use their hardware in different manners until someone else does it for another phone (i.e. Android and the flashlight). My phone (an Android) can use the volume button as a shutter button. I think once that becomes popular in Android, Apple will allow it as not to be outdone. My advice to Apple...back off and let innovation takes its course.

It seems that Apple wants to conform everything to the way they want and prevents anyone who has a better way to implement an app (like this one) from getting their product out through normal channels. This is something that Android doesn't have a problem with right out of the box...you can load programs that are not on the market.
