Get a real trainer folks .....don't listen to this crap!! Do yourselves and your dogs huge favor ....... look at Greg Derrett and Susan Garrett videos and see the difference.
Agreed. This isn't that great of a video. Why wouldn't they just edit out when they messed up and only keep the good clips. They must have known they were gonna receive criticism...The rest of the videos were pretty good though.
Um, no, the handler "messed up" here. As all good agility trainers know, any mistakes, especially in distance training, are the fault of the handler. Clearly the handler does not have proper distance training for this dog as the dog continually wants to return to the handler.
This is the worst example of distance and independence handling training I have yet to see.
I'm with ilyTtixie406, I tageet trained my dog that way, so thank you. But I don't understand why we are learning this from comments... Shouldent we learn it from the video it's self? It is not very explainatory. I mean I've watched all of theese and NOTHING about target training. Idk. Thats just me, though.
I trained my German Shepherd Dante to do the teater in 1 weak he is amazing and a very fast learner i didn't even have to train him to Jump or weave he already knew its kinda weird
the way i tought my BC to target is to say (Dogs Name) "Target!" and place a small treat on the target. (you can use any small white round lid). when he touches it praise him alot. then once he knows to touch it, send him over a jump with a target and treat on the other side. soon you can take the treat off, and give it to him one he touches it.
You must really run out of breath on a real course by saying "ahead ahead ahead" all the time... O.o

Ha ha, too funny that the trainer said Sprite "messed up". The trainer failed to say her command to go ahead and jump fast enough. Boring video.

can you please tell me how to target train?

how do you target train?

Take a lid and click every time they touch it with their nose. That's the very first step. Then send to the target and click for a nose touch.
