Actually she is dead, however the reasons & cause for her death (in the OVA) were lies in a sense as per her final wishes. However as it turns out Tenchi's sister happened to look just like his mother.

This movie (Tenchi Muyo! in Love) is in the Tenchi Universe canon however, not the Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki one. Thus the nature of his mother is quite different between the two.

yeah what you said ...........lmao I feel ashamed but I actually had to watch the explanation extra on the DVD boxset of Ryo-Ohki because otherwise I was lost..........but of course I watched all the Tenchi series except GXP a long time ago. and they all mesh together in my head.
