  • Blind willie mctell is a unique banjo artist- Jarred Day

  • @RagtimeDorianHenry what is your background also where about are you from. Please E-mailhg_hart@yahoo.com like your stuff and wonder if you have others tor my blue side

  • his voice is surprisingly high, still who cares he has a fantastic voice and picks that 12 string like a machinegun on full auto

  • Oh my McTell..... some sweet woman's angel child.

  • allman brothers

  • I know his lyrics can be dark, but something about his music seems clean like a sunrise after a stormy night.

  • This should be required listening for everybody.

  • Thanks RagtimeDorianHenry!

  • "I ain't good lookin', but i'm some sweet woman's angel child."

  • so great that these jams still exist. thanks for the wonderful post!

  • Does anyone know where I can find or order a nice print of that picture of Willie?

  • something about these old time blues players. You can really hear the blues/hurt in their voice/playing. love it.

  • Dorian, you're the king of ragtime blues, it appears! Thanks for sharing your collection. Who is your all time favorite? ...tough choice, I'm sure.

  • @qtofdog about the blues ?

No doubt, this is Blind Blake

  • my favourite blues singer .... ever .....

  • Fuck that little poser Jack White. He actually had the stupidity and ignorance to talk shit about Edge because he uses effects to get his signature sound. Which JW uses old vintage stuff to do the exact same thing... what a douche.

  • @sparky7718 The Edge is a horrible guitarist. He has no soul. Jack, on the other hand knows his way around six strings. Blind Willie would be honored by his covers.

  • @sparky7718 haha you like the "edge" fag

  • The timing is so crazy as he starts singit is as though he is not paying attention to the guitar but it is so perfect it is really beautiful. Then at the end he really has a few tight rounds of the real deal.

  • The Allman Bros. version is great, but this one just touches my soul.

  • i hate finding all these blind willie videos full up of comments about the white stripes

  • @skakaravskrack Don't read them.

  • epic

  • holy fuck it's jack white!!

  • @matiascba87 Nah Jack White ripped him off. This is Blind Willie McTell. Remember it. He graces the world while others just crowd it.

  • @matiascba87 : 80 years too late

  • @bluepez57 at least he gets people to know the guy.. I, for myself, would've never gotten to know who blind willie mctell is if if wasn't for jack white. that's gotta be worth something. what have you done? :\

  • @matiascba87: What response would you think is appropriate to a guy who posts, "Holy fuck it's Jack White" on a Blind Willie McTell video?

  • @bluepez57 A response with humor, since it's a comment with humor! ;)

  • @matiascba87 : okay fair enough :-)

  • @bluepez57 :P :)

  • haha sounds just like jack white! haha I mean haha Jack's style was definitely influenced by Willie's vocals. I'm glad for that. ^_^!!!

  • good lordy

  • yeah bob dylan,i seen the arrow on the door post. sayin' this land is condemned, all the way from new orleans to jerusalem.i traveled through east texas, where many marters fell, but nobody can sing the blues like blind willie mctell.one of bob dylans greatest songs.

  • Ostbahn - Nix wia unguad, Album: Höchste Zeit (2003)

  • The first time I dropped the needle on a Blind Willie McTell LP, I couldn't believe my ears. I thought I'd accidentally left my turntable on 45 rpm!

  • Wonderful tune.

  • He always hits me, I'm never prepared for the tone he opens with singing this song.

  • Statesboro was quite a different place in those days...at least it helped influence a great song from a great bluesman. Great American music right here.

  • allman brothers made this song eternal, but ain't no white man sing the blues like a brotha, except maybe 4 stevie (RIP)

  • @colemontelongo :

What about Eric Burdon of The Animals?

  • @colemontelongo - And Johnny Winter!

  • @Bopalena Never compare mctell to johnny fucking winter. ive got bad news for you my brother. the blues died when they electrocuted the guitar...

  • @IBG67 - Oh, a purist, eh? You probably think Muddy Waters sounded too white.

  • @IBG67 Stevie Ray Vaughan begs to differ...

  • @IBG67 How lame are you?
