“Communism is at once a complete system of totalitarian ideology and a new social system. It is different from any other ideological and social system and is the most complete progressive revolutionary and rational system in human history.” --Mao Zedong
Leftists enjoy totalitarianism and slavery. What more needs to be said?
If they compared "like to like", their appraisal of 20th century revolutions would differ.
Most do not consider that the USSR and China were (socially and economically) in the early 20th century where western countries were a century beforehand.
Leninism in all its forms was tyranny; people still died needlessly, culture was destroyed, there were prison camps, massacres, an all-seeing eye; as Zizek put it "catastrophic failure". To deny this ultimately is David Irving teritory. Lotta also fails to realise that he himself is just a propagandist.
Even if it was proved to be all false, or could be rationalised, the fact still remains that Leninism is not self-sustainable as seen in collapse of the USSR and the Chinese economic "reforms".
@LlamasOnAcid So, what you are saying is that its is okay for the millions to starve to death under the communist system in North Korea because their system can't feed themselves but it is okay, it's nothing intentional, just business. These people are amoral or just totally immoral and regardless of numbers or Intent there was human suffering and great loss of life. Who cares about the past when you can try to rewrite it at the expense of those who died and have no voice. SICK
"The response of Mao was to save lives...they lowered the amount of food that was to be delivered to the state." That is a lie.
After Peng Dehuai's criticism of the Great Leap Forward in 1959, Peng was removed from his positions of authority and "far from responding to worries over grain shortfalls by remitting procurement quotas to desperate areas, Mao insisted on the heightened extraction of a dwindling peasant surplus" (Jonathan Spence, "The Search for Modern China", page 552).
If US is so fair and democradic society, how come you never hear the voice of Lotta on major media such as CNN, BBC, and CBC when talk about China? Are they afraid about the true China?
There is always bias and distorted information about China in the Western countries, especially in the US. US has the most sophisticated propaganda system in the US. This is how US keep its super power and spreading American culture around the world.

I may not like Mao but, capitalism distorts communism because they are scared that workers would take power (instead of the few bourgeois).

American reactionaries fixate upon the strife and privates of revolution and reformation in socialist republics which were emerging from FEUDALISM.
Never do they compare this with the history of their own industrialization - with their own war of independence and subsequent civil war.

Capitalist apologists are ill informed.
