  • though this isnt as free as a chicken could be, this is a hell of a lot better than a battery farm. the hens themselves look alot healthier and more at ease. fresh air and daylight would be good, but given the state of modern chicken farming, this at least shows some progress. good on the farmer for not taking the battery road

  • Where's the range? All I could see was a metal grate.

  • im gutted the place o work in the slats arent as far out as that and they have more ground to walk on and its hard work picking up all the eggs off the floor

  • I say this is very humane! They are not over crowded standing in there own feces, or getting trapped in wire. Not every body can keep flocks on real pasture. I have 1 acre and can only let mine out a couple hours every day!

  • its cage free not free range

  • good job! At least the chicken a living with comfort and are not crowded.

  • Per Wikipedia: Legal standards defining "free range" can be different or even non-existent depending on the country. For example, the U.S. Department of Agriculture requires only that the bird spends part of its time outside, and allows egg producers to freely label these eggs as free-range.

THIS IS WHERE YOUR EGGS ARE COMING FROM WHEN YOU BUY "FREE-RANGE." BE SURE YOUR EGGS SAY "ORGANIC" AND "FREE-RANGE" TO ENSURE YOUR EGGS COME FROM A GOOD ENVIRONMENT!!

  • cool video ! thanks for uploading :)

  • You see there feathers? There missing and some are half grown in. Hens will peck and rip out there feathers and other hens feathers when there too cramped up. I have a flock and I know this from experience. Hens need to have there space, and they need to be aloud to scratch and look for there own sustenance. My hens are truly free range and if you've ever had a real free range egg, you will taste the difference between it and your fake free range.

  • It shoud not be legal to call chickens that never get to see the sun, scratch the grass, or even step outside...free range!

  • I have noticed free range eggs that i eat have thicker meat and stronger shells than their caged counterparts

  • We run an organic egg farm in Lismore NSW and have 6000 hens over 70HA ; whic is 200 hens in each shelter around our farm; on pasture ; no debeaking- now that is free range . This video is a caged egg producer taking hens out of cages, standing on steel and pile sof their own crap and calling it free range. Its not free range. Bu then these egg producers will call it 'cage free' "free to roam ' or anything else. 'free' - (anything to sell). The reality is 'not caged ' -but still in prison.

  • I dont like this ''free range egg farm'' chickens trapped in a large cage walking on metal

I buy my eggs from a free range farm where chickens can go outside and do stuff on the grass and where are trees If you think about it, it is not that hard to provide chickens with outside access needs just little bit more love and land

  • All that's missing from this battery farm are the cages.

  • HOW ABOUT FREE BARN CHICKENS..HAHA

  • Then you need to change your title this is misleading to people who thinking there eating FREE RANGE!

  • THIS IS NOT FREE RANGING FOR CHICKENS THIS IS CALLED PRISON , LOOKS LIKE YOU NEED TO LOOK UP THE DEFINITION OF FREE RANGING. FREE RANGE IS WHEN THEY GET TO GO OUT SIDE AND DO WHAT NORMAL CHICKENS DO. THIS IS DONE BECUZ IT MAKES THINGS EASIER ON YOU. HERE ON OUR FARM WE DO THINGS THE OLD WAY. WHERE YOU LET YOUR CHICKENS OUT TO DIG AND EAT BUGS AND SO ON, TO DO THINGS NATURAL . WE COLLECT EGGS FROM NESTING BOXES BY HAND. YOU MUST OF CLEANED YOUR BIG COOP RIGHT BEFORE THE TAPPING OF THE VIDEO.

  • By definition it is a Free Run operation, which is different than Free Range.

The chickens in this video have Free Run of the barn, but don't go outside from what is shown.

  • Are those free range? oh my gosh, I have being paying so much for for eggs from " free range chickens" to find out that they don't have access to the out side to eat grass. what does free range means? is free range a large cage?

  • @alejonsu I would gladly pay more for eggs from a place like that vs. hens in battery cages (you don't have to watch many videos to see why).

Aside from not being able to eat bugs, I don't know that the chickens would care about this vs. being outside. They certainly don't get cold, rainy or have any pressure from predators.

Some people need to learn the difference between free range and pastured.

  • looks very high investment.jus a little too big for most farmers in 3rd world.

  • All the chickens look nice and healthy, and their enviorment looks clean. They are provided with nesting boxes. This is really good condition, it would be nice if they could get fresh air too, but this is wonderful :D

  • @58Emogirl they dont let them out when it rains or at night or snow must of been raining that day

  • that is sooooo not free range.

    that is a large cage.

  • @wizdumb420 This is paradise compared to some that I have seen. At least its clean and they could walk.

  • @LuisPerezII Free Range implies OUTSIDE without walls. Elsewise it is a misnomer to say the least..misleading definitely..

  • @wizdumb420

    Yes this is 'free range'.

Oh but free rage doesn't necessarily have to mean free.

  • Look at my video to see what real free range egg production can be like, click on my scrambled eggs name in blue below below to get there
