i have 2 computer builds, one with the dx58so and another with the rampange iii formula, and to my opinion the rampage iii formula was better, especially at overclocking
i went in to best buy and bought a hpe-112y desktop i dont like it at all its not very fast or reliable. can anybody give me the name of a motherboard that would still fit and be more powerful than the one i have now?
This is a awesome board. I just finished building with this board with i7-950.it's fast I don't even need to overclock this board. bought it new from eBay for $160.
hey man pls some 1 help me! i got a second hand motherboard but i dont no wat name it is n i dont have the cd! on the motherboard it says MSI N1996 is this the name?i need the drivers!pls
I am concerned I may be only getting a 1156 Mobo pc (because I am on a bugdet) with a i7-860 but for heaven sake my ASUS P55 Pro has SLI (at a slightly lower 8x) and crossfire and all the other cool stuff like memory checker and V-turbo. so for a x58 one intel has not done a very good job here but that is just me.
Actually, I was able to make a nice budgeted Bloomfield setup on newegg for roughly $50 more than a Lynfield. The i7-920 is only ~$90 more than an i5 and you can get great combo deals with cpus/mobos. That said, either is great really. I've seen the i7-820 beat the 920 in some benchmark tests.

Airhyl LOL funny! its very modern board i guess. Hey, it doesnt support SLi? Cant you download firmware that would enable the sli to it? Ive heard something that nvidia release some weird tech bios update for the i7 mobos enabling sli? I dont know if manufacturers has to install it befor releasing it on market or anyone could do it. If youre sure about this I would welcome any replies about that :) thanks
okay, I checked out Intels site about this mobo and the BIOS Version 3435 firmware from February 11, 2009 and newer, does support SLi so idk why do they put the board with updated bios into some other propagated box along with SLi bridge. Weird huh? Cant you get SLi bridge with the card or why is it in the box? I dont know much about nvidia stuff but that shouldnt be a hard nut to get the bridge or is it?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I bought one, then in my home after all the installation i just took my mouse and keyboard, took the cables looked at the MoBo and said OM$^&% god where are the Ps2 then i cried....... lol
I heard that the SATA layout is so pretty bad that if you put a card with a fat ass like GTX 285 it will cover most of them thus they will not be usable is that true ?
this is really only the case if you are using SLI or Crossfire with two long cards like, as you said, the GTX285. And even then, the SATA ports are still usable if you purchase 90 degree SATA connectors.
so i bought this motherboard along with asus mars edition gtx295 and xonar slim soundcard.....AND THEY DID NOT FIT TOGETHER on this motherboard so the only way for them to fir together is to install the video card in the secondrey PCI slot :(
i hope it does not affect the gtx295's performance by placing it in there
stupid INTEL they should make room between the primary videocard slot and the PCI 2.2 slot for fat video cards
Thanks for clarifying that intel is the GAYEST motherboard on the planet... I'll definitely be picking up the ASUS CROSSHAIR ROG AMD MOTHERBOARD after watching this gay review!! So glad i choose AMD!!!

THIS BOARD DOESN'T SUPPORT SLI??!?!
FragileStaticCircus 2 years ago
It does now with the new BIOS update. It wasn't SLI certified when it came out initially.

Does anyone try it on Mac OS X with i7 920 CPU?
If it works on Mac OS X then it would be a big jump for user.
I am seeking for a workable Desktop Board for PC and Mac OS X.

This is as close you can get with the OSx86. intel Gbit 82566mm driver needs a patch but the rest works OOB

They are now selling this same one with same name change no price differecnce but it supports SLI. It even comes with the bridge.
TheDustBulder 2 years ago
okay, I checked out Intels site about this mobo and the BIOS Version 3435 firmware from February 11, 2009 and newer, does support SLi so idk why do they put the board with updated bios into some other propagated box along with SLi bridge. Weird huh? Cant you get SLi bridge with the card or why is it in the box? I dont know much about nvidia stuff but that shouldnt be a hard nut to get the bridge or is it?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I bought one, then in my home after all the installation i just took my mouse and keyboard, took the cables looked at the MoBo and said OM$^&% god where are the Ps2 then i cried....... lol

QUESTION, will my xfx geforce 9800 gtx video card ddr3 be compadable with the x58so? please answer
snipurmom 2 years ago
yes. why wouldn't it be
F0rgiven 2 years ago
I heard that the SATA layout is so pretty bad that if you put a card with a fat ass like GTX 285 it will cover most of them thus they will not be usable is that true ?
crystal19831 2 years ago
this is really only the case if you are using SLI or Crossfire with two long cards like, as you said, the GTX285. And even then, the SATA ports are still usable if you purchase 90 degree SATA connectors.

THANKS your words saved the motherboard from being exiled :)
crystal19831 2 years ago
lol no problemo

hello friend (wow 6 months already past :)
so i bought this motherboard along with asus mars edition gtx295 and xonar slim soundcard.....AND THEY DID NOT FIT TOGETHER on this motherboard so the only way for them to fir together is to install the video card in the secondrey PCI slot :(
i hope it does not affect the gtx295's performance by placing it in there
stupid INTEL they should make room between the primary videocard slot and the PCI 2.2 slot for fat video cards

Yes you could do SLI with this board, even nvidia's site said they approved SLI on this board, all you need is to update to the newest bios.
Notice....
When this video was made And when they approved SLI on this.
