  • can you do a mod video on nes 2 av mod

  • i have n64, snes and n64 can you sell me some games

  • 16 bit my ass i does not look like 16 bit to me

  • @bellyboy41 Yeah and you like most people seem to think that the register width of the main CPU has anything at all to do with the graphics. But it doesn't. You know the original XBOX was only 32-bit. Did it look worse than the N64 witch was 64-bit? No. It looked better. I can find you many examples of this. So forget bit this and bit that. It has nothing to do with the graphics. That's just the way we where tricked into thinking from advertisments during the 8-16 bit era.

  • @MN12BIRD LOL Well said dude.

  • @bellyboy41 noob

  • first game downloads..insane!

i have one and its really cool

  • As said before, bit-ness doesn't matter. But, the Inty CPU was a CP1610, which IS a 16bit CPU but it had a 10-bit data bus. It ran at 894.886 kHz, so LESS than 1Mhz. However, none of that matters.. The games looked better (at the time) in general than the 2600 games. I couldn't say anything about it at the time one way or the other, as we only had an Odyssey 2. :-) Good review..

  • Great review for a great system. :-)

  • It's the Sega CD Model 2 boot up music

  • I love my intellivision!

  • Where is the music at the beginning of the video from, I know it but just doesn't pop in my head.

  • @xTruLyXaNxIcoNx Sega CD model 1 boot up music.

  • @MN12BIRD No,No It's Model 2

  • I wonder if you opened the intellivision up if there would be controller ports on the inside like the famicom.

  • @seganerd89 no, they are soldered into the main board.

  • The reason why there is a numeric pad is that some games requires it. For example, with the Atari 2600, if you want to play Star Raiders, you'll need the Atari video pad (or the numeric pad if you prefer) because some functions in the game are associated with the buttons of the numeric pad (I remember that one of them shows you the map screen). Without this little device you can't play the game.

  • I never knew that the Intellivision was a 16-bit game console. Mattel was way ahead of its time. Esp. with all of its add-ons.

As what AVGN said about the controller: "Why a numeric keypad? This is a video game controller, not a phone!" Lol

    -kidThunder

  • the controller is actually quite good for games like burgertime, demon attack, tron deadly discs, and Venture. Just to name a few!!

  • i have the intellivision model 1 (PAL) and my power adapter isnt hard wired

  • Eh, you were watching Battlestar Galactica. Are you a fan of it?

  • Care to explain? I've just seen all the facts I could find say it uses a 16-bit CPU.

  • The Intellivision HAS a 16-bit CPU. If you think CPU "bit" classification has anything to do with overall system power or the order a machine comes out to market just remember this. The Intel CPU in the X-Box is only 32-bit but most would have considered it a "128-bit era" machine. Just because an X-Box is 32-bit doesn't mean its less powerful than an N64 does it? No. It all means little to nothing on its own. Intellivision IS 16-bit. Look it up.

  • your right i looked it up

  • well the Xbox is basically a pentinium 3 PC, so its CPU is 32 bit, while most other consoles base the bits on the GFX card

  • Guys, 16 bit CPUs have been around since before most of us were born. Yes, it uses a 16 bit CPU. Bits in game systems, though irrelevant in todays terms, refer to the graphics system.

  • @Atari2600Gamer What does coming before or after the NES have to do with CPU architectures?

  • @lmorchard dude who cares that was like a year ago

  • Do you require beating to death with an Intelivision?

  • Shut the hell up, asshole

  • its a 16 directional pad dipshit

  • How the fuck is anyone supposed know that's a directional pad? It looks like a disc. So fuck you.

  • Fine then its a directional disc... whatever

  • opps forgot to say I tryed it with my sega and nes rf and dident work worth a shit pictur was real bad but i had the RF to Coaxal plug i got for my Atari and it worked great likes to have direct conection

  • Yeah definitely there must be more resistance in those automatic switch boxes.

  • I just found one with games at a big thrift stor in Bullhead city A.Z will post a vid tonite the thing looks near mint and was insainly cheap just need to fix the RF jack it turnes in place a bit but put in a game and it worked so should be an easy fix

  • my neighbor just dug up one of his old intellivisions. Dam those things are awesome.

  • where did u get the intellivision?

  • But the PS3 doesn't have better graphics than the 360?...they are really exactly the same, with some mild color differences.

  • if you are a intellivision fan the one to have was the 2nd build that had detachable controllers and was a better build (was the one i owned growing up)

  • they both (I and II) messed up your thumbs though!!! :)

  • do you know hot to fix 1 because i got 1 today with alto of games like 50 and i cant get it to work. pleas help

  • Actually, the keyboard add on was in fact sold by mail order only for a while. One went on eBay a little while back for over 3 grand. Other then that, excellent video.

  • sorry dit he say 16 bit?

  • Yes the Intellivision has a 16-bit CPU I know it sounds crazy but its true. Look it up!

  • cool where do you think i could find one in australia i bought one on ebay but its american so i cant use it

  • LOL I don't know did they ever release the Intellivision in Australia? If not I don't even know how easy a Euro/PAL version is to find.

  • Magnavox's Odyssey 2 also had hard-wired controllers as well, as I saw in Mark's (InecomCompany) "Classic Gaming Room" videos that feature the system.

  • No No No Intellivision Is Not First 16-bit Console The First True 16-bit Console Is Sega Mega Drive See!!

  • No the first true 16-bit console is the TurboGrafx 16/PC-Engine.

  • im confused wich console really was the first 16 bit machine

  • rofl yes, it can get confusing.

The first to include 16-bit power is the Intellivision.

The first to include 16-bit power and graphics is the TurboGrafx 16/PC-Engine.

The first complete 16-bit console i think is the Sega Mega-Drive/Genesis.

I don't know thats ROUGHLY what i know.

    I hope that helped dude.

  • wait wasnt the turbo grafx 16 actually just two 8 bit engines?

  • no it was a 8-bit processor and a 16 bit graphics engine. It was a hybrid system. So I made a mistake it's like this.

The first to include to 16-bit Power is the Intellivision

The first to include 16-bit Graphics was the TG-16

The first complete 16-bit system is the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.

The TG-16 did not include 16-bit processors which was my fault from before.

  • this one was

  • Awsome! I want this!!!

  • Which leads again to the question: Where is the Vectrex!?!?? Damn fine piece of machinery. True, it's expensive, but so worth it.

  • hey mn12bird, i just noticed something in the intro do you do all the consoles in order from when they came out?

  • yep.

  • Lol, AVGN did a review with that. It was called 'Atari Porn' XD

  • Also to point out that spinning disk isn't a d-pad! It's just another button making a grand total off 17 buttons!!!!

  • Yes you defo need to get the 'voice synthesis' attachment so you can play bee 17 bawmer!! And don't forget Bomb Squad the greatest game ever made!!!

  • Thanks for the review. I've discovered:

    1) You can exchange controllers by unscrewing the system (a hassle, but possible), much like the Odyssey2.

    2) The games actually sound and look better on an Intelli I than the Intelli II.

    3) After 10 mins after first turning it on (a literal cold start) it goes through about 20-30 secs of screen jitters before settling down (every Intelli I've owned has done this).

    4) The Plug-and-play series (all of them) are vastly inferior to the actual Intelli.

  • Cool so the original model is better than the Intelli II eh? I guess they did find ways to make it cheaper!

  • Even though the Intellivision keyboard was large, it was still way smaller than the Colecovision alternative (Coleco ADAM)

Expected this to be a C64 or some other computer of the time, i remember you saying somewhere that consoles Pre-1983 crash weren't interesting to you.

  • i see you added it to the op already

  • Bee seventeen bawwmer. LOL I've been imagining that same thing over and over too!

  • holy cow, a cable modem to download and play games back then?...what took 'em so long to bring it back to modern day?

sounds like a revolutionary system in that respect.

  • great review man those things kick ass

  • The Intellivision is an awesome system. Very under appreciated, doesn't get the love that it truly deserves.

  • I think you should get a collecovision next. Did you know that it has an expansion moduel that lets you play Atari 2600 games?

  • "Let me introduce you to the Intellivoice Voice Synthesis Module! What the Fuck is that?!? Well, it makes your games talk, and at the time, having voices in video games, was a new thing."

  • angry Video Game nerd rulz! Also great video!

  • more buttons then jaguar

  • cool. me snd my friend found 2 ataris and about 100 games in his basement

  • how awesome. My uncle had one...and I had a colecovision! I miss that thing, it was awesome.

  • why isn't the jag in the intro?

  • Doh!

  • Cos he made the intro before he got the Jag.

  • i thought the suprise was going to be a cd-i and hotel mario

  • wasnt the Intellivision 8 bit? most of its graphics looked a lot worse than 16 bit.

  • Nope its General Instruments CPU is truly 16-bit once again proving that measuring a systems overall power based on the width of its main processors registers alone is useless. Remember the X-Box is based on an Intel PIII and its only 32-bit! Yet we consider it the 128 bit "era right? The Intellivision is 2nd gen early 8-bit era but its still a 16-bit system!

  • so is this era we are currently in the 256 bit era?

  • Beats the hell outta me. Things got kinda complicated and no one classifies the next gens as "bit" or "bit era" anything. Witch really is the way it should be! Really all modern PC games all run on a 32-bit CPU. After the 64 bit "era" we just started calling systems by the generation. The 360 and PS3 are 6th or 7th gen I guess?

  • I do believe that the bottom two buttons are also the same. Great review and congrats on the new system.

  • How can you only just have it, when it's been in your intro for months?

  • huh? The Intellivision was just added to the intro for this video yesterday! Go back a video and you won't see it ;)

  • Splicing in new controllers FTW? LOL

  • wow its in a great shape! thx for the review!

  • good review. Viewer 14!!

  • The guys making this machine must have been genius !

  • HOLY MOFOIN CRAP! nice review always wanted one but cant get ahold of one and have never seen one in real life

  • AWSOME-!

  • First Comment Sweet another great review from mn12bird 5 stars!!!! keep em comin!!!

  • ... I have one of those.
