Man does this bring back a flood of memories! I remember a more simpler time, a time you had to walk or use a pay-phone when your car broke down...A time when everyone tuned in on PBS to watch Fred Trost. I remember watching you guys in one episode, where one of you spilled speghetti in your car...man was i crackin-up!! You guys were hooked on Tobasco Sauce, and puttin it on everything..lol!! Those were the days:) Wish you and yours the best Mr. Z. Trost...And thanks for all GREAT tv years...
What I remember about Fred, He FOUGHT hard for hurters. Getting a law degree due to abuse of power by the DNR and so called Scent Co. Thanks Fred you help me more than you will ever know back in 1996. 4 years later, I became a Military Police Officer. I was in Iraq (05-07) when you fell ill, sorry I did not get to meet you again.
Some of my best memories growing up are watching Fred Trost and Bob Garner, and meeting them was a special thrill in Houghton Lake at the Michigan Outdoor's Outdoor Fair. I really miss that show.
My family and I grew up on Fred's show every Thursday we would gather around the TV. Fred is truly missed by many but not forgotten. I wish there was a way to see those old shows. Do we evr miss your Dad and his show. Todays outdoor shows are just so commericalized.
In an era of sporting television was only found on PBS. Fred's Show was what set a proper standard in what Hunting shows should be. Now with at least 3 Channels of "Outdoor Programing" that in all reality is a Commercial where they spend some time actually hunting or fishing. and most is for product placement... Many sportsmen and women miss Fred's Bottom line point of fact programming. Wish you could post the shows but I bet Public Broadcasting would have a snit.
I was an avid fan of Michigan Outdoors and Fred...I don't believe I missed a show...Fred was very out-spoken and said it like it was...Sad to hear he has passed.
Man, I watch this video and I think how different things are now and how far away things seem for the real blue collar practicle sportman now.I really miss your dad Zachary.I didnt know him, never met him but I did feel a connection with him when he spoke the truth on my behalf.
It's a pity that Fred and MUCC never found a way to bury the hatchet. Michigan sportsmen would've been far better served had a united voice been presented to the legislature and the Natural Resources Commission.
