For some strange reason, the spring in some ways disappears- could someone explain this?

@lhy70 I know what you're talking about, but the spring doesn't disappear; it just seems that way because of the spiraling/screwing motion. Look at a regular wood-screw sometime and turn it in your hands, or just look at a regular spring or spiral. It doesn't disappear, it just turns.

If it helps, you can see that the spring "reappears" at the bottom when it "disappears" from the top. :) Because is a spiral is *kind of* like a circle that has been broken and stretched open.

How did you bend the metal the way it needed to be bent? I've always wondered how people make all these iron frames and crap at home.

The metal is 1mm brass rod (creator mentioned this a while back) its really easy to bend and pretty easy to solder as well. I am more interested in how he got the spiral so nice and also what wood was used/how it was carved out. Ordering various motors currently as these look fun to make :D
