  • Beast. I envy these kids who started training so young. One of my biggest regrets in life is not starting to train gymnastics earlier.

  • It is never too late. One of the GymnasticBodiesdotcom forum members is 70 years old, has been training with my system for a couple of years now and has his front lever, back lever and is currently working on his iron cross.

    Coach Sommer

  • @GymnasticBodies

That's unbelievable! Thanks to your resources like BtGB and the forums I started training gymnastics about 5 months ago (at age 20) and have made amazing progress. Without these resources I wouldn't have known where to start. Can't tell you how excited I am for the Handstand Chronicles and Liquid Steel.

  • This video is a little misleading. By watching this kid do this, you would think that it's easy.

  • what is the equivalent of this but with a full planche in the end? i can do that on a bar but never knew what it was called :/

  • Jesus fucking Christ....

  • What's the name of this gym? If it's in AZ I might go

  • Xtreme Gymnastics in Scottsdale, AZ.

    Yours in Fitness,

    Coach Sommer

  • @GymnasticBodies Does your gym facilitate older (18+) athletes?

  • Twice a year older athletes/fitness enthusiasts are allowed to train with me for 3 days during the Gymnastic Bodies Seminars.

    Yours in Fitness,

    Coach Sommer

  • wow. I thought me getting a cross was cool :P

  • whats the difference between rings and extreme rings?

  • holy crap. I don't think most people realize how amazing this shit is.

  • @JoshRom I know!

  • Sommer I've been trying this a few times. It's got better but I tend to get a lot of swing after a few reps. I guess it's because of some cheating in the front lever chin up, what do you think?

PS: I sent the registration to your forum last week but no approval so far! (I use another nickname anyway)...

    Thanks always

  • this is great! as i read some of the messages i would like to reply; they are usually small. they will probably be young as well.

now my routines are not this level yet but 4 years ago i started planche/advanced tuck planche etc at my 30 years. i am 6 ft. 3 and about 192 lbs and against all odds, I am improving fast.

coach Sommer, you wrote an article "how to build an olympic body with bodyweight condtioning" and it helped me a great deal!

  • great routine

  • what a nerd. nice though:P

  • far out that is SO SICK! I am looking forward to getting stong enough for this, just got full iron crosses today!!!!!

  • Congratulations on getting your iron cross!

    Yours in Fitness,

    Coach Sommer

  • Thanks! Yeah it is really satisfying to finally get there. Could you please take a look at the vid i posted on my page of it and tell me if there is anything wrong with my form?

    I would really appreciate it!

    Thanks!

  • where is this gym???

  • Scottsdale, Arizona.

    Yours in Fitness,

    Coach Sommer

  • thaaaaaaat explains it.. ha thank you

  • This is just amazing, I will definitely give it a try! Unluckily, I have never had a good feeling on planche on the rings, any hints for that? I got planche on PB and floor, and actually I can manage doing a maltese on the rings, but planche has always somewhat more difficult.

Keep up the hard work, anyway! :-)

  • I noticed on the planche like part, his scapula flair out. They are likely naturally winged like mine. My question coach is, since it is incredibly difficult to stabilize (tuck in) the scaps when doing something as hard as say a planche, is it still safe to do them? Thanks.

  • You are over analyzing. Everyone's articulation of the scapula is somewhat different and this simply happens to be his bodies natural movement pattern.

    Yours in Fitness,

    Coach Sommer

  • Fair enough. I ask merely because my own condition seems to make my shoulders more injury prone: I now have a SLAP tear in one, but who knows if it's related at all. Thanks coach!

  • i could do that... if i felt like it

  • on the other hand this is crazy, planche to front lever then back?

  • hey how old is he?

  • it would be amazing to see these boys perform in martial arts with there amazing flexibilty and body stregnth they would become amazing this is what the martial arts world is missing ppl like them

  • BULLSHIT, martial art train for their specific thing, gymnasts are uusaly small, and while extrmeely strong and flexible does not mean they are good at combat

  • it sure helped me when I started martial arts lol. I could already kick at head level and do flying kicks.

  • post some videos of your guys' routines, I'd like to see that sometime because they seem pretty solid from the videos you have uploaded so far

  • dam. You keep those rings stable bro. Nice job. Expecially when you go down to front lever. lol

  • whats the difference between extreme rings and regular...the look pretty much the same to me

  • The Xtreme Rings are portable and are specifically designed for fitness and strength workouts in either a gym or home training environment. They are NOT designed for competitive acrobatic gymnastics elements.

    Yours in Fitness,

    Coach Sommer

  • What's a website or link that i could purchase the xtreme rings to put in my house?

  • Simply go to my website, GymnasticBodies.

    Yours in Fitness,

    Coach Sommer

  • I think JJ Gregory of something was the strongest, right?

  • This guy always does the really hard stuff, is he your strongest athlete?

  • Yes, at this time he is one of my strongest athletes. He is not however (yet!) the strongest that I have had.

    Yours in Fitness,

    Coach Sommer

  • you don´t have any videos proving what you said. show something and don´t talk bullshit

  • well you can see it in myspace, i will send you a video.

  • He can do a muscle up more smoothly than I can get up out of a chair. Wow.

  • lol

  • I've noticed this young man is one of your primary demonstrators for exercises. Why does he always wear sunglasses?

  • Those are prescription sports glasses.

    Yours in Fitness,

    Coach Sommer

  • Ah, so I guess the cool look is just a side affect of functional vision.

  • How old is that boy?

  • haha, this looks more like something you would put in a routine than a conditioning exercise; it looks pretty intense.

  • Yes, this is a fairly advanced example of the combined pull/press variations that my athletes use in their conditioning.

    Yours in Fitness,

    Coach Sommer

  • This man is a fuking beast. Gud work muh brutha

  • THATS REAL!

  • Front lever-> muscleup-> straddle planche. On rings. My gosh, I've got to get out and train some more. And buy some rings while I'm at it.

  • Brilliant. I'll definitely be doing these myself, and also having my upper-level boys do them.

  • my word!

  • haha what can i exercising for this exercise!

  • That'a a great exercice!!!! i've never thougth to this with my rings!!!

  • Sorry that was a really bad English response.
