@Marlean The composer, Yoshiki Hayashi, lost his father to suicide when he was ten or eleven. He wrote this song about this experience. At the end of the song, he says, in English, "Someday I'm gonna be older than you. I never imagined the pictures of my life beyond that time" meaning, because his dad was so young when he died (mid 30's), Yoshiki could never imagine himself living beyond that age. I think it took him a very long time to come to grips with losing his dad to suicide.
Susumu Hirasawa has done music for Japanese anime as well as other stuff and is not really a hard rock artist, check out the songs Girl from Byakkoya, Forces, Phonon Belt, Parade (those are some of my favs)
I have watched the Lollapalooza videos and I said to one of my friends, who introduced me to Japanese music through the music of Susumu Hirasawa, that Toshi was dressed more like he was going on an Arctic Expedition than going to play at a rock concert in hot weather. I heard that it was 90 degrees there. His voice does sound soooooooo wonderful though I agree. I still wish he would lose the sunglasses at least some of the time though. I bookmarked this video BTW so I can look at his eyes :>)

@branwen333 Thanks for watching! I saw them at Lollapalooza this past August and it was so HOT that day, and he was wearing all leather including a leather jacket and gloves, a scarf (i think) and, yes, the old trusty sunglasses. But GOSH, his voice never sounded better, even back when this concert was!

This was great, I sure wish Toshi did not wear sunglasses all the time now as he has beautiful eyes and I want to see them.
