I'm not quite sure what point you're trying to get across, but if you are looking for an alternative to oil you should take a hard look at natural gas. It is cheap, clean, and abundant. As of now oil is the best option that we have. If the government will get off of their tush and let the US drill some additional gas wells in the gulf and then promote the use of natural gas we would be much better off. CNG is the fuel of the future.

The well bore casing is completely blown out on the DWH about 1000 feet below the seabed. A gamma survey was done, which penetrates the seabed and showed the blown out casing. This is why the relief well will not work. Anything that is pumped down the relief well will leak out the DWH blown out casing. A nuke down deep is the last chance to stop this. The gulf will recover much faster than you think. You do realize that over 2 million barrels of crude is spilled every year into the gulf of Mexico, naturally. Im not sayin this isnt a bad spill it is, but the earth is very resilient, just look at the amount of oil spilled on the Arabian peninsula by Saddam.

The two million gallons naturally plus the unnatural oil changes things quite a bit. I've been hearing 1000 barrels a day, which would mean an extra 15 million gallons per year. I just don't know about this.

Looking at the satellite images from NOAA it appears that BP is making progress. The oil slick is thinning and staying the same size despite the additional oil spilling from the well, so thats a positive. Having worked in the oil business my whole life, I'd say they have a really good chance of killing the well once they cut into the DWH wellbore. Its still very tricky and dangerous, but they should be able to run a balanced plug once they get to a depth great enough to weight down
