  • This is an Amasing song from The King. :-)

  • Ofcourse it is in the eye (ear) of the beholder....I just really prefer the Elvis version as it seems just that much more sincere. It's that bit more than an country song. No pin intended Tom, Joan and others......

  • Elvis was one and only ,i wanted to see him in live performances and all the other loved artists too.

  • Is this on vinyl? It sounds it.

  • @1954771 Yes, it's from "Our memories of Elvis", 1979 LP.

  • que j'aime cette chanson, que j'aime Elvis et ce depuis 1957 en voilà un bail

  • Elvis...Tu peut dormir en paix. Le King n' est pas prêt de céder sa place.

  • good job Marco! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

    Gaetan, Ottawa, Canada

  • @gaetanmassie1 Thank you!

  • I always wondered who did this song better, Elvis or Tom Jones thanks to you tube i can tell you Elvis blows him away!

  • Sempre foi maravilhoso !! Essa música ficou lindíssima em sua voz maravilhosa !!!Saudades ,Elvis !!!

  • @mr1georg57 No. No nigger relatives.

  • He had a wonderful voice!

  • The greastest singer to have ever lived.

  • ELVIS PRESLEY I LOVE FOREVER!UMA FÃ DESDE SEMPRE NO BRASIL!!

  • this is the best!

  • une superbe chanson , la belle voix d'Elvis et ça donne un excellent partage, merci Amitié Aline

  • as usual when the great Elvis covers a song you forget the original artist. he sings with such soul with such beauty and majesty.

  • !! GREAT SONG BY ELVIS !!

  • Two years later they laid him beneath the green green grass of home. And the world has been a poorer place ever since.

  • porter wagner was the first then tom and then elvis

  • it's not his song originally, but the way he sings it, is the best and most touching version I've ever heard

  • whose 's the actual/first singer of this sweet song, elvis or tom jones?

  • Well You showed the way!

  • Love Elvis.

  • Always and forever THE KING. RIP One of a kind.

  • That was amazing - Elvis could sing anything and make it sound better than anyone would have dared to dream it could!

  • @obeedoo Ur so right... this guy had a rare talent that no one before him or since has . Just an amazing talent. Will always miss him.

  • Charlie Hodge tells a story when Tom Jones first recorded this. Elvis N Hollywood making movies, bout a yr since he'd been home in Memphis, Headed back home they were listening to a DJ that Elvis knew in Ar. He played this new song. Charlie said the whole bunch were in tears they were so home sick. Every time they passed a phone booth. Elvis would stop the bus, call the DJ to play this record. He would announce the King is on the road headed home to Memphis wants to hear this song again.

  • we played this for my dad at his funeral..

  • love yah

  • I have played this song many times over the years, and its about an Inmate who has been in prison for some time, and he is dreaming of the ggg of home, 4 gray walls, a guard, and an old Padre, yes he is in a casket for burial. Curley Putman wrote the song, and he must have known a lot about prison.

  • this is one of my very favorite songsby him!

  • I have to comment, this song is about coming about home in a casket, listen to the words, how else will you touch the green grass?

  • AWESOME VIDEO, Elvis the King of music. The best entertainer in my life time.

    THUMBS UP.

  • best singer of pop ,rock. , and melodic songs ever

  • I am in a sentimental mood today and this song and specially the voice of elvis comforts my soul; thank you so much

  • Elvis had a voice of gold and we wait for a talent as sweet , Legend and rightfully so.

    Virginia

  • thanks of this song,tcb.

  • is this an elvis song or tom jones thet r both good versions ???????

  • @davebrom1 Porter Wagnor wrote the song (a country singer). I think he wrote it, anyway he did the first recording. I don't remember if Elvis recorded it before or after Tom Jones.

  • @traylorvh Elvis covered it in '75 and Tom Jones in '66. Both versions are great, the song is amazing.

  • @crushcrushcrushme89 Thank you very much for the information.

  • No mans voice has ever come close to the King. He is simply the best..love his music.

  • Thank God for Elvis,my precious one.

  • ELV1S =The Greatest Entertainer of all time.

  • Elvis the king forever.

  • I have listened to many versions of this song and Elvis probably is the best. I spent a couple years in south east asia during the sixties and we had a little club where we could chill out and drink a few beers and there was a local band that tried to play american music and when they played this song if one did not stand up folks put a hurt on him. Never forget where your green green grass of home was. lisbonny61

  • Thanks Marco for your time posting this, it's so great to hear Elvis in this song.

    Nice job!

  • I know its a i different meaning but it is strange, Elvis is right when he sang this song, "Yes they`ll all come to see me, as they lay me beneath the green green grass of home. Yes they do go to see him, by the millions. God Bless you Elvis, love you yesterday, today, tomorrow and always.

  • El, your voice are the best of all voices I have ever heard. With unending & great love from Russia. Love YOU 4ever!

  • Elvis looked and dressed a lot like Liberace. Did they have anything else in common?

  • @numbnuts234567 Yes, talent in different ways.

  • @numbnuts234567 Yes..they are both LEGENDS.

  • That sounds like Chet playing the guitar. Does anyone know for sure?

  • @rnich35180 James burton played lead guitar on this track recorded on 11th of march 1975.

  • That sounds like Chet playing the guitar!

  • One of the saddest songs ever written. I'm a huge Elvis fan, but still prefer Tom Jones' rendition of this prison death row song. Elvis lives on...

  • @doctordoolittle2800 Elvis sings it with

more compassion in his voice than Tom ever did

  • What golden voice to remember!!!! Elvis Presley

  • Its a shame for other artists. No matter which song Elvis sings, he always sings it better than them. I love Tom Jones but when I heard this I could not help think that it was better !

  • AWESOME! Thanks for sharing!

  • this is pure gold ....

    A TRUE GOLDEN CLASSIC!!

  • I love his undubbed seventiessongs,I have both Our memories of Elvisalbums, this man could sing ,a legendary performer.

  • 2010 He would have been 75 years old - Someone should have loved him enough to stop him!

  • I like this I think Kenny and Elvis did a better version than Johnny.

  • Masterpiece.

  • I like this better then Cash's version but it can't touch the Statler bros. version

  • good Song isn'it........!?

  • Hi, I just want to ask what do you mean by 'undubbed'? I'm a fan of ELvis, but not a really big fan. Please reply. Sorry.

  • It's mean without instrumental overdubbing added in studio after the recording session.

  • @marco310768 Sorry..this is the same version released on the album...so once more...what do you mean by undubbed?

  • @marco310768 Wait I know what you mean.....the chorus is gone.....I know know what you mean...I like this better...Thank you

  • @marco310768

I also asked myslef same question. So thanks for answer. Every new knowledge is welcome ;)

  • @marco310768 you mean live?

  • @shanmaxfun No, this is a studio version without instrumental overdub.

  • @ShawtyLikeMe2007 He was a bright vibrant life, an exceptional soul, We will never forget the day he came into our lives & we went through this world with him. We were privileged to share his life. Weve heard about & witnessed his unequaled generosity, & giving of himself to everyone. His life impacted the WHOLE WORLD, just the mention of his name , we know! We R all, just a little bit better for him having been here. Open our eyes that we will see the heart of this truly exceptional soul.

  • @onstageagain A guy said this the other day about Clarence Clemons, and, for all his flaws, I'll say it about Elvis too: All he did was improve the Earth. How many people can say that they did that?

  • @ShawtyLikeMe2007 dubstep! lol!

  • Elvis me emociona sempre.Cantando lindas músicas com sua belíssima e única voz.

  • THIS MUSIC IS BEAUTIFUL, BUT PERFORMED BY ELVIS, STAY WONDERFUL. GOD BLESS YOUR SPIRIT ELVIS, WHERE YOU ARE (IN THE HEAVEN, I'M SURE).

Thanks for posting this spetacular video friend.

  • this song is real good.

  • I think this is the best version of this song ! Elvis could do any type of music , he was so versatile. He could do rock , pop ,ghospel , country and blues .He was just something else ! And he was sooo sexy I love him
