Lyrics are deffinately a great part of Thrash Metal as it wasn't for the music proficiency the bands got, but for the things they had to say about society, politics, war and environment. If you manage to create energy while you get to convey a great message to your fans, then you get more credit than rather composing a song in which you could simply bang or mosh. After all music is art and art gives you opportunities to think.
