Hardwoods can create just as much creosote, or more, in a chimney, than pine!! The key, as it always is, is to make sure your wood is PROPERLY SEASONED and your stove is OPERATED PROPERLY!!

I'm not sure about the creosote content, but I do know that my fires rage a lot more with pine than with hardwood.

That's not true....Pine and fir has been proven to have LESS creosote than most hardwoods.
