  • what language is this

  • This is an uplifting and sad song (shady for the misinformed). It talks about the young men leaving for the forest during the emergency (it was either that or be detained in the detention camps). Listen to tsome of the lyrics carefully:

    We left happy,

    we will return happy,

    our journey was easy

    getting there and back

we were able to bear a lot of punishment

    and a lot of suffering

    we resolved not be afraid

Strength leaves the body eventually (Death will come to us all)

  • this is so good stuff! Its good being Home!

  • kikuyu warriors...we rule kenya....wapende wasipende!!!!!...kibaki our jamba

  • wewe na nani?kenya ni ya kila mtu, kibaki will never bring mokimo to your table, juz mind wat you say pliz, for security purposes

  • there are some kikuyus that want peace first then truth and justice for all kenyans and the freedom to vote for woever they want without corruption

  • Chunga your speeche, kenya belongs to all kenyans regardless of ethinicity, you must have been raised in a small village where you regarded only Kikuyus were Kenyans, the problem we have have been caused by people with such mentality.

  • when kikuyus were being killed in rv you did not say a thing

  • Either Kikuyus been killed or Kalenjins or Luo's its wrong and evil,Kenya is for Kenyans not for particular people

  • Traditional yet mordern, thats the paradox of some of the best African music - esp. South Africa and Ethiopia.I love the mix or is it the fine blend!

  • nothing but respect.he has given us great songs.more kikuyu songs on youtube please.

  • kamaru right on the money thats exactly...how the original sounded...my fav part of the song 'we withstood many atrocities' true feeling during the colonial days..so why should i listen to westernized music when someone is singing about my history which happened on the eve of our independence!! know what the words mean today!!!go head my peeps loving you...

  • this is so great seeing our one n only old man who we used to enjoy his music those old days.he is one of the best kikuyu musician if not the best

  • When you watch the video,it takes your mind back home. NINJEGA TU!

  • coollll!!!!!!!

  • Totally cool! Good to see Kamaru again!

  • This also would be entertainment for that particular village/town. To inject back some cultural "come back" where we kenyans can enjoy our tribal music and reflect. We are culturally very poor at the moment. We africans are heading westwards and neglecting our african cultures....The west do not head to our cultures at the detrimental of their own culture!!

  • I could watch kamaru and his beautiful girls many times. it takes me back to "Celina" and wonder if he lives and if he does, power to him. I also wish that we had a "minister of African culture whereby each village/town in kenya would meet once a month round a football field and sing tradational songs to the "audiences" so that the new generation can uppgrade their knowledge of their cultures.

  • It is a wonderful song for any person listening, especially if one is a kikuyu. Kamaru was very popular in the seventies, I enjoyed his song "Celina" and i WISH the kikuyus would take up our tradations again and sing such songs.....at festivals, like it was before and all of us would go to such festivals. Wishing that we would find ourselves again and appreciate our roots, and kAMARU would lead the way and us. love kamaru

  • It is a pity that alot of our "today" africans have lost their tradations. It would be wonderful for the ministry of culture, if there is one, to organise such festivals featuring tradional dancers and of cos the big one, there called kamaru. I really enjoyed his song.....I hpe he lives long

  • Wishing that we would find ourselves again and appreciate our roots, and kAMARU would lead the way and us. love kamaru

  • Im not kikuyu but the songs reminds me back home, hahaha.

  • good to see Kamaru is still out there an kicking an being great.Incredible.This cat never seems to get old.

  • ni njega
