I don't understand why people are so down on Rodgers. (Not that it matters now anyway) Im guessing the people who dont approve didnt see them live, they blew everyone away, seriously good show. Was there this much fuss when he teamed up with Jimmy Page?!
@lucrativeelfmongrel Agreed! I believe everyone want to resurrect Freddy. I think he's been dead for a coupla years...these boys have to play! That's what they do, too bad there's so many "critics" and "purists", and not enough music listeners...I'm sure the same dipshits criticizing this are huge fans of all this little boy and little girl music out like Ke$hit, or Lady Gag, etc. etc. etc. cheers mate good comment.
BTW, I've noticed that they were playing the song "Cosmos Rockin'" in one of the NBA arenas during halftime (I don't remember which one, probably Indianapolis). Now, I wouldn't be surprised to hear a new Rolling Stones track being played, but Queen is not a band that is EXTREMELY popular in the States. Nontheless, they were still able to make their way into American public consciousness with the new stuff. That's a good sign.
In my opinion, it really didn't seem like they cared all that much about promoting this album here in the States. I saw a commercial one or two times, ever since last October. I don't know if you knew about this or not, but I went to this thing that they had playing in theaters across America that showed their show in Ukraine, and it was meant to promote the album, but the only reason I found out about it was through their "Album Club" that I'm a part of. If they really wanted to promote
this album, then they would've had a North American leg to their tour. That really upset me that they didn't come here, especially since they did for their 2005 Queen + Paul Rodgers Tour.
The best way to look at this album is just concider it as a side-project / collaboration / tribute album. Considered as that, its one heck of a great rock music.
Besides, I'd rather have this, than nothing. May, Taylor & Rodgers proved that they are still a creative force.
If Queen never happened, I think I would like this song more. But since it did unfair or not, I'm going to compare with Freddie and John, and compared to them, this doesn't compare.
Great song, great album too. Yet I can't the feeling that it just isn't Queen. No Freddie or Deacon is just too bad. Rodger and May are great, and so is Paul, but still.
I´m gonna say it this way: Fuck the critics. This album is a piece of pure Rock N´Roll, and it´s fun as hell! Damn it, I don´t care about "Chinese Democracy"; "Death Magnetic" and all those "big" comebacks. "The Cosmos Rocks" is supposed to be fun, and it is. I know you´re gonna spam me for this, but for me, as Queen fan and usually listener "The Cosmos Rocks" is the best of 2008.
They did this for FUN, not for MONEY. They like to play, and they are the best at it!

It's so boring. There have been thousands of other songs of the kind. Although it's not surprising at all. Queen had arrived to a dead end in 1991. No matter what they produced afterwards under the label 'Queen'. Both Roger and Brian probably could write relatively godd songs but not as members of Queen any longer. None of those I have heard of the new album so far belongs to them. "Was it all worth it?" I doubt!
Sounds like a Paul Rodgers album with Queen as his backing band. Not as much Queen influence as Paul's through the album. I have all Paul's Bad Company's albums and his solo album, as well as all of Queen's. The Cosmos Rocks is a good album, even though it sounds like a Paul Rodgers album with Queen as his backup band.
This isn't too bad of a tune. Kind of catchy. I did notice though, that in one part of the song where the music breaks and they have stomping and handclapping, it sounds almost as if they sampled that part from their song " We Will Rock You. " I might be wrong though.
ese tema me gusta, a pesar de que mucha gente me comento que el disco no era bueno, a mi me gusto y esta mejor de lo que pensaba. bien por brian, roger y paul...
ive heard a lot of bad reviews on this album and in my eyes brian and the boys has realy pulled it off they are great love all the songs, small is such a beautiful song and i think of freddie throw out the album and i get gooose bumps everytime i listen to this album. trully memarkable.

The title of the album is so cheesy, trust brian to think of it. I heard the song cosmos rockin today and thougth it sounded well cheesy, a bit like status quo mixed with cliff richard, it was terrible. Thats two crap ones iv heard off it so far.

I agree the album title is shite. They`ve already used the title `Queen Rocks` so to use the title The Cosmos Rocks just shows a complete lack of imagination.
But let`s be honest they havent got any integrity left otherwise they wouldnt be riding the Queen name when they`re only half Queen. How about 50% Queen / 25% Free ?
The album title is not due to the Queen Rocks album name, but, was given to Brian, as a consequence of his doctorate in Astronomy. All in all, its a great album, so, let's get off the bands back, and enjoy the music PLEASE!!!!
you people are unbelievable, you're whining about Queen's new album QUEEN!!!! you should be thankful that Brian and Roger are putting new stuff out and soon touring the world.
This album is recorded very quickly. I think Brian recorded in 3 months.. considering all other stuff he's involved in, it just CAN'T be as good as the old stuff in which he sometimes invested years..
I've read that too, but this was only the creation/jam process. The actual recording didn't last longer than 3 months, end 2007.Anyway, Brian sounds better than Roger's Drumkit.
I like Time to Shine as a concept but at around 1.30mins of substance (2mins odd in total), it isn't going to be a big hitter. From memory, there would appear to be only one "verse" as such. I think this is roughly the same length as will feature on the album.
A song is better with feel as opposed to a political message - rock and roll never dies. That is all very well but it has to sound or feel good and it does neither. This song won't bring back rock and roll - it is more likely to put people off. It is a hash of riffs with a rap style vocal - like C-lebrity (without the chorus).
I accept that rap is perhaps not the correct description but I am disappointed that two songs that I have heard from the album have a cliched riff plus an almost spoken vocal. The cynics will say that this is almost like an a continuation of the theme for the WWRY the musical. I'm not opposed to the sampling of WWRY but I think that the public at large will see this as same old same old. I did accept in my first comment that the sound quality maybe did not do it justice.
I think the sound quality does the song no favours. It is a bit lacking in imagination. They are trying too hard to be the antithesis of modern music but are forgetting that at the heart of Queen music was enjoyable melodic music, strong vocals, instrumentation and precision. This is an attempt to sing what they want themselves to be seen as - the saviours of rock and roll.
We will rock you?...ah bueee para robar con un tema viejo de QUEEN hubiesen puesto unas voces ineditas de Freddie....los años no vienen solos y a estos señores se les notan bien.

this is a fantastic track....heavy....great work by the musicians all round......have this in my head constantly now....great to see Bri and Rog have gone back to their rock roots

Yes, I thought that too. But what a hell of a backing band!
I think of it as 3 good mates playing some ballsy old fashioned bluesy rock and some more laid back tracks.
Though in this track there is some classic Queen riffs in the background.
"Rock n Roll never dies." Too right.
