Can someone please explain why the new temple can't be built *around* the Dome of the Rock? All the models I've ever seen show a large courtyard in between the buildings; surely some clever architect can arrange a shared platform?

This is comming from a Christian who adores ancient architecture and civilization! If you're ever done with this, would you mind rebuilding the Colossus of Rhodes, too? That was awesome.

Does everyone realize that the Dome of the Rock will have to be destroyed for the temple to be put in its place.
