  • do you by any chance have a tab or something for what the lead guitar plays during the chorus?

  • this really helped thanks :)

  • @BullP00p use the palm muting method and also string blocking

  • hey i'm new to guitar and i cant do the chorus without a shit ton of noise coming from the strings other than a and b... how do i fix this?

  • @BullP00p put a shirt over the neck and strum all the strings it works well in this song

ps the X means to palm mute but you can do what I told you in this song.

  • wrong...

  • your solo is a big shit

  • hey will you do the hellcat spangled shlalala by arctic monkeys, if so please do alex turners version.

  • when i play it it doesnt sound right do you know why?

  • Also, you should really get yourself a overdrive pedal,it's way too fuzzy for a Strokes song.

  • Thanks for this vid, it really help me ;)

  • BEST GUITAR LESSON VIDEO EVER!

  • u miss a little part but u did it great

  • um tabs for alberts part in the chorus please? :)

  • where can i find just the tabs? just so i can practice when im offline

  • I'm new at guitar... wat do the xs mean?

  • @TheStrangr It means a muted note.Just pluck it while muting the string.

  • on the solo when it goes from 10 to 9 can u slide instead of strumming fast?

  • The hammer ons and pull offs were removed that's why he said he simplified it.

  • Comment removed

  • nice i use this solo :)

  • lear to play dude .. then load up a video..°°

  • It is a nice lesson but in the solo as you said it was modified by you but doing the bends isnt that hard, plus you left out one of the sections that is played after the chorus

  • Eres bien chingon =) (Y) 5/5

  • How come people have troble hearning that actual notes in the song??

  • Thanks for the whole shabang

  • i admire you thanks for this awsome lesson im bookmarking this vid :)

  • How do u feel about epiphones?

  • awesome job :P way to be lame and cut out the fast part of the chorus opposed to the rhythm but nonetheless awesome job!!!

  • you did a pretty good job tabbing this. You got everything but the part of the solo that you modified. You may need to fix it, you switched to some notes that were out of key.

  • solo is all wrong at the fast part, sorry

  • hey dude, are ESP guitars good?

  • @SkyAndroid, for me they are perfect, different guitars speaks to different players. The ESP's have ofter thin necks with the strings close together and close to the threat board which makes it easy to play fast solos and barrechords.

  • @SkyAndroid im a newbie i wanna know at gutars r good

  • @SkyAndroid im a newbie i wanna know wat gutars r good

  • @SkyAndroid only get an ESP if your a serious guitarist because they are for pretty advanced players. The next best thing is an Ibanez, Ibanezs are pretty good for beginners and they don't limit you to when you get good

  • dude that was freaking awesome this lesson was really helpful now i can play it thanx

  • nice job dude

  • 27 people are Deaf

  • dude this is awesome! any chance you'll do one for ryhtym guitar?? Please! or know anyone that does??

  • @ShoutParamore the rhythm guitar is really simple so just check out the tabs on ultimate-guitar(dot)com

  • thanks man this really helped me

  • great lesson thankks

  • te falto el solo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • vry

     good

    :D

  • thanks. now i can play this song!!!!! its just that one part in the solo. the really high part.

  • i think u skipped a part after the beginning

  • great song thanks

  • @elpiometalgod the x's mean muted, you play with the strings, but there not supposed to sound

  • COOOL

  • Muito obrigado, voce nao sabe o tanto q isso me ajudou.

  • exellent

  • subbed your awesome

  • I learn the main riff by this video. I like it much... the only problem is the solo and the distortion lol.

    Awesome

  • one of the BEST tutor videos. defenately subscribing and if i may just make one tiny complaint when the tbas are up its a little hard to see but its no big issue since i found a place with the same exact tabs.

    LOVE

    IT

  • @HungryMocha where?

  • Very nice video lesson. It's only 3 months since I started playin guitar so I'm not in the position to give you tips but I think in the chorus part you should mute the strings with a soft barre' with your index finger (at least that's what I do!): it's a bit more hard to do compared to the way you play that part but the result sounds way better. The solo part is obviously too difficult for me :o( But I can do the riff and the chorus :0)

  • yes wow buen tutorial!!!!!

  • hey dude the part where it has all that mute notes you have a bad technique the afro dude from the strokes use a finger between the onesplaying notes to actually mute all remaining strings (youre not thats why it sounds messy) myself i like to bar with index finger (softly u dont wanna press hard enough or ull hear a chord) and press notes with the middle and pinky fingers...

  • ah, okay thanks for the tip. But a problem with the vid is that it's a whole lot of distortion. Simply to much but this is not a showoff vid, just an easy lesson. But I'll keep what you said in mind!

  • @watashiwanachodes ok buddy i gonna point how many things you were wrong with that. the "Afro dude" is Albert, and that mute section isnt even his part i

  • @kurbina1251 i dont mind the memorabillia you mention i'm not a strokes fan... i was right about the technique thats about enough

  • @kurbina1251 wanted to point that out, but u pointed it out first! =p

  • @watashiwanachodes lol afro dude

  • @watashiwanachodes hahah the afro dude from th strokes otherwise known as albert hammond jr

  • @craigmcbluenose thats prep boy name haha! its even wost than "afro dude" if my name was that albert hammond jr thingy u call him i change my name to afro dude haha

  • @watashiwanachodes

the afro guys name is albert....

  • yhea awebo0

  • your shit hot !!!!

  • thanks is nice

  • this is awsum thanks a lot

  • dude thanks alooot. this is like the only reptilia lesson that really helped me. u will be gettin a friend request and subscription from me. ^_^ deuces

  • Keep it!

Best of tutorials i had ever seen

i was wondering would mind send me the real solo part i want to play it but i do not find the correct one on google ;)

    By the way nice guitar!

    SAludos desde Mexico

  • one of the better video lessons on how to play that song. It´s ok if the solo is modified. good job.

  • mmm I think in 1:07 shuldn,t sound allt he strings... But still a good video (sorry for my english)...

  • if you watch the lesson you see " modified solo ", its not original

  • @Palsternackaa Not to be mean but, the modified solo sucks. Killed the whole point of the solo. Its the bend that make the music comes to life. Your solo is ok, but the part without the bending sounds 10x worse than the original solo. If you want to teach others, never ever teach the easier way. Just a few bends wont hurt much, they can even learn what is bend and how to bend. Just my thoughts. No offence.

  • how do u do the palm mute sorry im new to this stuff im barely learning how to play

  • @dalexizdz , just lay your palm ( hand ) across the strings at the back end of your guitar and play as you always do except for your hand touching the strings, then you can control the sound by reducing or increasing your strength

  • How do you do the mute parts?

  • can you be more specific?

  • @ChargersRock13 with your finger

  • Yeah!!

  • wow!!! one of the best tuts ever

  • youre so great eres genial toks bien chido gracias por tus lecciones sigue subiendo mas you must do more

  • wow! gracias !

  • oh yeah could you tell me how mute the chorus?

  • this was a lot of help thanks :D 5/5*

  • nice this was awesoem and helped alot

  • hey thxs for the video it was really helpful man

  • because these are the exact same notes, just played in a simplier way, so why make it harder than it is?

  • coool

you make the lesson more easy !!!

  • Its cool to see how you broke the parts down and also put the tablature, but do you mind telling me where you got that tablature, your version seems best.

  • at ultimate-guitar(dot)com, except for the solo which i have made myself

  • thx man now i can play part of the solo

  • Fuck off, very nice, my finger are bleeding for trying play JUST the intro of this song, im too newbie to try play other parts... :(

  • cheers. very helpful.

  • bravoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Missing one part - the background guitar on the chorus, the one I wanted to know. starts at 1:25 on the album version. Great job otherwise though.

  • this is very helpfull thank you 5 stars

  • thank you so much dude! i learned it finally. ^^

  • Very awesome video! It's also really funny, I don't know why, maybe it's the cuts?

  • amazing lesson, keep up the good work :D

  • 2:00

    NO, it doesn't :)

  • what guitar are u using there?

  • it's an ESP LTD AX-50

  • ja

    muchas gracias!!

    you rock!

  • ahhhh too much distortion

  • very nice dude but i think u play the song with a bit to much distortion:P

  • what does it mean by mute note? O_o

  • place your ( generally indexfinger ) gently over the strings, just touch them without them touching the fretboard and it will barely make a sound,

  • guitar harmonics, right?

  • shitt I gotta learn this. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very nice - thanks!

  • 5 stars my friend i didnt found any tabs for the solo o and a little suggestion dont make easier the solo the next time

    5 stars

  • Best tutorial ever!

    Thank you!

  • You should do a lesson over Buildings and Mountains by The Republic Tigers.

Its incredibly simple to the sound, but I can't find tabs for it anywhere.

  • the best full song video on here agreeably but the solo is really wrong and leaving out the bends really doesn't make it easier

  • this is the best video i hav seen on this song, thanks sooooo much!! =D

  • Hey man! Thanks for this really good lesson but can you tell me please, what kind of sounds/effects do you use for strokes song? Thanx.

  • I was using R-Fier, quite a lot of distortion and some reverb but my amp isn't the greatest, i rekommend you pick a tone that sounds good by ear

  • Thanx. I started playing like a week ago so Im far from playing strokes songs but I'll get there. I just wanted to know what kind of effect should i buy and when i heard your cover i thought its preety close so thanx again.

  • Since you're covering it, you can really pick whatever you think sounds good. The Strokes tend to use a lighter overdrive, but if you think it sounds better in thick metal distortion - go for it

  • great...one of my favorite songs!! i just started learning today by myself....its kind of frustrating not knowing anything.....im a drumer but i wanna try guitar too...thx really helpfull!! 5 stars :D

  • What tone was your amplifier at Palsternackaa?

  • i'm just playing it at R-Fier Effect with quite a lot of distortion but it's best if you just pick out a tone that sounds good by ear

  • nice vid! helps alot on the chorus!

    LES PAUL RIP!

  • love it!!!

  • thank you I think it's the best video that I've seen

  • haha no one plays it the way the strokes do :[ i was watching a bunch of strokes videos and i noticed i learned how to play it wrong. the main verse, when it goes deeper its 11 - 14 - 17 in teh same pattern :P

  • i know how the strokes play it but it's the exact same tones in a different harder pattern, so why make it harder than it is?

  • very helpful vid. loved it.

    wooh 101 rater!!!

  • nice vid and thanks
