Maybe so pdeleon, but Steve Perry never performed this song live, and doubt he could pull it off now. The true test of his or Arnel's ability to perform this song is on stage, where what you see is what you get...no studio mixing whatsoever.. And from what I've heard so far Arnel's nailed it in spades. I can't wait to hear him do a recorded version, I think he would blow Perry away..big time. So right now the comparison for his and Perry's performance on this song is not a fair one...

How could you even say,that sp would be blown out of the water just with the emotion in his hands alone grabs at your heart when he sings this song. Because of an accident t he could not tour. His voice was in full gear and ready for this tour he would of blown this song out of the water with the live version if he had tour. Remember Arnel loves this man and woulf tell you the sat thing I just said!!!SP 4ever!!!

I'm sure he would cutlets29...I just happen to like Arnel's voice better, and he was the one fronting Journey the very time I saw the group live here in Toronto. It could be too, listening to the difference in the band's sound since the 80's and comparing it to the more full bodied rocking sound they have now which suits Arnel's voice better... Nothing against SP really...he just doesn't get my adrenalin rushing the way Arnel does..SP was great in his day with Journey. It's now Arnel's turn.

I was at this show and sitting quite near the stage, could actually see how tired he really is but he tried his best and still won the crowd's heart! He did a mighty good job!

whatever negative comments they say about this guy, I don't care, I was at this concert, when he sang this song nobody can say it's not good, for all I know he nailed it, considering he is already tired from a long concert/tour, still deliver an excellent performance and gave justice to SP's songs, man anybody who said something bad about his singing must be watching a different concert. Go Journey, see you again on your next tour..
