hey im a guitarist, and pretty good for my age, im self taught and play mainly rock music but i love country and have decided to get really into it, watching this has both influenced me to want to do it more and has worried me as to how hard it looks, because obviously, as a rock guitarist i am used to using hammer ons and pull offs, the question to ask myself is weather i can get used to picking every note. but many thanks for this inspiring clip, chris
hey that was very nice! I'm new to the chicken pickin, I just recentle bought a couple of teles and now i'm hooked. i was a blues plaer for 23 years, now all i pick is country...haha! check out my vids
Hey! great chicken picking man! I just wondered which video software you used to make this video. I use corel videostudio to make my guitarvideos, but that program won't allow me to overdub audio. so I'm not able to record video with solo over a backing track
NO jealousy here. That is one horrible tone. Sounds like maybe a cs3 compressor. But whatever it is too too much compression. Very thin non dynamic sound. I was at the sameplace many years ago but through experience no how to get a good tone.
When you compress that much you take all the charcteristics out of the tone. I play a Dr Z stangray and I want to hear the character of the amp and my fingers. Although I do have a Keeley it is used sparingly and even when used sustain is way down. This guy has good chops but the compression is a dependence to hide sloppy.
I do agree that there is way too much compression on that tone, as I play and listen to a lot of country guitar. It was just the way dpeaver came accross- "A good player wouldn't.....". -I think this guy is a very good player, and dpeaver should of made his point in a less offensive way. I do agree with you though guitarman, he should aim for a more natural tone.
Yes he's got great chops. Compressor is a hard effect to get away from. Your playing will be a little sloppy as you learn to ween from depending on it. This guy has good technique and it would be worth it. Of course if you don't have a good amp a compressor can be a good way of hiding that to. I probably would still use it on a cheap solid state.
dude, great technique, just work on the tone. Country pickers rarely use chorus and you are way over compressing. Choking some of the notes out. Good job though!
Wow, great pickin'! Nice sparkly tone you got there, you can really hear the chorus effect. What kind of tele are you playing there and through what kind of amp?
I love the sound thats coming from your guitar...are you using any effects...thank you:)

Hmm, great country playng. Sound needs work indeed though. It lacks thickness. Listen to the hellecasters or Brent Mason to give you some pointers.

shame about the guitar tone you got a middle and bass tone too..

Compressor has sucked about every ounce of tone that you might have had. A good player wouldn't rely so heavily on the compressor.

good technique, but you gotta lose the chorus and cut the compressor back...

Good playing, although I would have preferred it with no chorus, and less compressor.
My tele looks just like yours, by the way, since I added a pearl pickguard.
