Chateauvallon ' 72 (près de Toulon, France) : j'y étais ! ces fabuleux musiciens nous ont offert un set de rêve, suivi de Mahavishnu, qui a eu bien du mal à supporter la comparaison !
@boogster123321 lol........... Yeah, as you are aware, normally the opening act is far less talented than the main band, but in this case if you brake the personnell down, of each band its even all the way if not superior at least one on the instruments. Tony and Billy zero each other out, but on bass with Stanley Clarke, not to much can be done there.
@ShangoDC i know youre talking about with opening acts. i think john mclaughlin plus jan hammer out weight stanley and jerry and jean zero out. but either way great bands and cool video
@oRuTRa45 ha ha, how many LPs of ponty's have you destroyed through overplaying? wait, maybe that's not fair, i don't know your age ,after all, i grew up in the 70s and destroyed many ponty albums listening to them and practicing to them and dissecting them.. . okay how about this; what two tonalities are featured in the tune 'egocentric molecules'? :)
@edp dunno if you like the rock/fusion variant, but ponty is a singular entity and many of his albums 'take you on a journey', i recommend ALL of his albums, though depending on your tastes, you may want to explore different eras of his playing. more than several handfuls of the best instrumentals of all time are from mr ponty
j'aurai voulu y etre mais j'etais a bien d'autres
