  • Somewhat defeats the point of Bach's music. :P

    But great

  • @QueerOldDean

    Great indeed.

Ms Dennerlein does not "defeat the point of Bach's music" - bad classical musicians can do. She simply uses the Toccata as material for jazz. What regards the use of themes from Bach most purists fail to understand that this does NOT offend a "holy grail". Using other musician's themes as material was normal in his times. The 19th century brought the cult of genius and authorship.

Bach, sitting beside Ms Dennerlein: "That's new, great! Teach me jazz!"

  • @QueerOldDean

    P. S.

(Quote: Bach, sitting beside Ms Dennerlein: "That's new, great! Teach me jazz!")

Why? For sheer musical curiosity, and he would have liked her verve, drive, inventiveness, and, above all, the improvisation - an art forgotten in classical music since his times. Nowadays the purists even complain when soloists perform their own cadenzas ...

  • UNIQUE!!!!!....Not a Jimmy Smith copycat like most B3 players including myself.........

  • How nice.

  • THIS WAS TRULY A DELIGHT! BUT IT MAKES ME WONDER WHAT BACH HIMSELF MIGHT THINK IF HE WOULD HAVE HEARD THIS. MAYBE :" THIS IS THE DEVIL´S WORK!"?

  • @cuchulainn1967 Bach was the rebel of his time. I'm sure he would appreciate this. =)

  • I loovee UUuuu :D <3 :))) Thiiis iiisss ccooooooOOOlllLLLL

  • So 18 dislikes...I think those poor fellows dislike Hendrix on guitar, Miles on trumpet, Elvin on drums, Carter on bass too!

  • 0:48-0:56

Stuck in my head for the last half a year.

  • @DVDKC so wait you mean good?

  • Poor little J.C.

  • Is the B3/Leslie tone just a little too... well, maybe you're burned out on it, or you want to give it a rest for a while, or you just want to explore another Hammond avenue? Get M3 and put a hotter tube where the percussion tube is - it's a 6c4, or a 6u4 or something ( I'm going from memory). Alright, so put a 12bq5. So now that it is hotter it's louder too.Now for the 'secret tab' ! Put the Hard/Soft Percussion tab half way between the two settings . Instant Leslie! Anyone else know this?

  • 10 minute?? that sucks,

  • amazing!

  • Man, she tears it Up! I wonder what the 17 thumbs down are about? Haters!. LOL Jackass' don't know music. To bad, so sad.

I Love this woman. She's the best, Wow! I would love to have her on my arm for a dinner date. Oh yeah baby! A woman you can walk around and hold your head up with.

  • @SpoonyG925 The 1970 version by Egg is better. It's a guy named Dave Stewart who later played organ in a band called National Health.

  • GREAT !!!

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • cool

  • Mr. Hammond would be surprised. I love it!

  • Anyone else imagine hearing this in an elevator?

  • Bach would be a Jazz musician today. All his music is easily put to jazz.

  • Now if she just learned to beatbox at the same time we could rightfully crown her the Queen of Multitasklandia!

  • Interesting interpretation, and of course performance

    greet Hans1970 !

  • WHAT A SWING SHOES!!!!

  • Cold in there; Barbara's all bundled up.

  • Bach Improv? It´s som original phrases of one of the most popular tunes, so popular that most serious organists don´t like to play it. Then comes some improv which has hardly something to do with Bach. It´s just poor name dropping.

  • genial muy bueno

  • no way, thats brilliant. my hat down

  • Barbara estupenda organista en su Hammond B3

  • Muy buena intérprete!!!!! Pero no encontré el video en el blog anunciado.

  • ¡Bárbara!

  • *organism*

  • @jcbwman Orgasmic, you mean? This? Never!

  • inspiring

  • It must have been pretty darn cold in that choir loft for her to have to wear that coat!

  • *orgasm*

  • DAMN!!! SHE IS GREAT!!!! Those are Jimmy Smith(RIP) settings on that Hammond...I am sure he would be proud of her!!!. I wonder how long did it take to learn this piece? 20 STARS+ EASY is my rating!!! PEACE!!!

  • @zyruemusic I imagine as long as it takes to learn any improvised piece...

  • @sweavo HAVE U EVER TRIED TO LEARN A SONG ON AN ORGAN WHILE PLAYING BASS PEDALS TOO? HARDER THAN CHINESE ARITHMATIC!!!! LOL!!

  • I wish the full video was on Youtube so I could favorite it. Doesn't mean I'm not going to watch it a hundred times anyways.

  • YouTube has a 10 minute limit, use the link at the end of the video to see all 18 minutes.

  • 5 stars!!!

  • ohhhh my god! This is a walking bass!

  • yeah !! Footwork

  • That is literally a walking bass

  • I have heard it argued that Barbara can be a little mechanical in her playing but this flows and has loads of feeling she is just amazing

  • There isn't always a problem with people who play "mechanical". I myself sometimes wish I could...

  • No I know what you mean but she obviously can do both some of her pieces she is like the ultimate sequencer pumping out 3 parts with clock type precision and some people bag her for this, then you hear her flow and improvise with feel and heart an amazing player no doubt quite amazing

  • Favorite... now!

  • Simply magic!

  • How can you hit that whit your leg :o ??

    xD xD!

  • OH MY GOSH.. MY FLIPING GOSH...

  • Nice Music!!!!!

Thanks for adding me as a friend! When U get a chance subscribe to my page/channel! THANKS A LOT!

  • The sound like Electro Guitar . You play faintastique but to play Bach like that it's impossible

  • vraiment la fille à Rodha!

  • I have a Hammond b-3000 its like that and a leslie rotor

  • Gute Frau, absolut gut . Da höhrt man mal wieder, man mußt nicht auf der uni gewesen sein.. 100 Punkte

  • this is a hammond c3

  • This is indeed a B3:

Thanks to Peter F. of bebab-jazz for this info.

"It's a 50 year old Hammond B3 that has been built into a custom portable case (in Germany called "Bertram-Umbau" by Hammond shop Bertram, Freiburg.) You have these cases in USA, too, so I don't think it's been patented by Bertram.)

Barbara's Hammond was extended by additional MIDI contacts in the keys and pedals around 1988/89."

  • @hans1970 MusiFix in the Netherlands can also Flightcase the B3, C3, RT3 and A100, and also put midi, string bass and even sustain into those organs.

  • @hans1970 that must have been a "Mr. Kraus special change", those genius had worked in the small backyard workshop in that time.

  • @jacksonsinmichael yep is definitely a bertram chop... but he chopped and built all organs to portabel ones.... very good work !!!

  • BRAVISSIMA.....sara' soddisfatto anche BACH.

  • :-O Wonderful

  • Yeah that s cool, 5 stars, but i would prefer the blues introduction to be shortened.

  • Ottimo

  • Divertente

  • Whatahottie - what a fine player.

  • wow that was awsome

  • Holy sh... she had to practice for veeeery long to be skilled enough to play with so great fluency on pedals. I am really amazed.

And the way she turned the Tocatta into a jazz - awesome. I can't believe she did it :) - i remember i tried once, but i had no idea to do it. She had got a great passion of creating!

  • Barbara, as pretty as the music she plays.

Amazing, beautiful, wonderful... listen to her before sleeping and your night is full of musical dreams !!

  • huh. who would have thought, jazz on an organ. Not bad, though.

  • Meraviglioso!

  • tout simplement fabuleux, un bonheur pour les oreilles d'une musicienne, d'une organiste, j'aime et j'adore ça c'est génial

  • Amazing.

  • I don't see any dudes playing b3, just this girl. she shreds.

  • @andychrist9502 - Check out John Medeski - MEDESKI MARTIN & WOOD : ORGAN SOLO ~ AFTER THE ONSEN on YouTube = I think you'll like it.... Of course, Barbara does shred!! Her bass foot work is some of the best ever.

  • Yeah! She is Lovely!

  • Yo... this is purely incredible! Turning a Bach standard into jazz? DAAAAAAAAMN that's hard! And it takes a LOT of time and effort arranging that! AAAND playing petal bass? Dang, man... this woman is AMAZING.

  • Actually not that hard, as Bach itself swings hard. Of course in different way from Jazz.. (or not)

  • Fantastic !!

Lovely, and great playing...and everything is perfect....

  • Io amo questa donna!

  • great foot work organ hottie!

4 bach fans - more improvisation on bach music on vid:

    "bach sarabande jazz guitar"

    best regards

  • What I love about Barbara is (besides her virtuoso playing) that she found her own, instantly recognizeable tone. The typical marimba-like percussion and a creamy, rich Hammond sustain tone. Here she plays with no chorus/vibrato - perfect for a more clean, classical tone (as opposed to theatre organ or jazz, blues, gospel style - all of which I love BTW). Wonderful!

  • Very well said.

  • wonderful

  • beautifull...

  • santa puta madre !!!

hasta que encontre a esta tipa !

puta, llevo meses buscandola en internet y la encontre de cueva jajaaja

puta, WENA WEON ! TOCAI LA RAJA !

  • wow ur a jerk

  • From a jazz point of view very average

  • too bad you dont like this, your missing out

  • Would you please stop swelling her ego! Lets hear how she sounds on other keyboard instruments like the Piano (it is actually a harp!) May I suggest you look me up in Genesis chapter 4 verse 21.

  • what are u talking about? she's great...and i'm pretty sure she can play keys too.

  • yah explain what your talking about.. what makes you think she cant play other keyboard instruments, are you mental?

  • Barbara is a virtuoso. Period. Do people ask virtuoso violin players if they can play the cello, Bb trumpet players if they can play the bass trombone, aiurplane pilots if they can fly a plane? C'mon....

Of course the technique is very different on a piano. I am sure Barbara would be able to play great piano pieces with just a little practice. With all that talent. Why am I writing the obvious...? Barbara we love ya!
