Nice video. Do they still breed if the male is like 1/2 smaller than the female? I have kept mine together for 3 month now. Come check out my video sometimes.
i have kept a few pairs together, but find the males start to squabble when they want to court/spawn with a female, so provide plenty of cover for them and they should be ok.
however, it would be best to keep them as pairs in separate tanks as i lost a male, i think through bullying.
no, they are quite peaceful most of the time, just the males will spare and with them being so expensive it would be best to keep them in pairs rather than groups.
oh, my biggest male is holding eggs for the 3rd time, he ate the last 2 lots, so fingers crossed thistime
this i'm not sure about not having got any fry from mine yet, but i think around 20 is a good number for young fish, more for older fish. the eggs are quite big for a betta. i will let you know if i get fry.
I'm from Portland, OR. USA. I have 8 male macs, 2 female, and 3 pairs of rubra. I have hundred of fry from several spawns. Now my 2 males macs and 2 male rubra are brooding. you can visit my thread on ultimatebettas dot com under username THE BENTUSI

Nice Macrostoma! They look big in pictures like a Large Mouth Bass. They are pretty small as every other plakat bettas.

Hi.
I'm trying to, had one clutch of eggs, but male ate them. this can happen many times before the male carries the eggs full term.
