I think they needed a rival character for Megaman, and just used Protoman since he was really the only choice : /

Bass/Forte wasn't out yet, but supposedly, by the 3rd season MM7 was released and Protoman was going to "Go good" and Bass was going to replace him.

But the show was canceled then.
